Roofing reviews in Castaic

They installed a new roof so I had a bunch of people over quite some time. They had to completely take the old roof off, put the new one on. They put the solar panels on and needed a new electrical panel. A lot of work and a lot of people. It took about a week. The workers were outstanding.

A friend of mine had a neighbor down the street and then he gave me their number. Ironically it was the only one that was really available to do the repairs sooner than anybody else. They were the only one available before September. I think I had gone to Better Business Bureau and from a few little searches or reviews, they seem to have a positive feedback. I didn't see any problems but I used them because of their availability to do the work. He squeezed me in that was why it was done on a Saturday. He was really like in the neighborhood which may have been another reason why he felt bad for me. It was raining and the shingles were gone. First we thought the house was hit by lightning but he didn't think that was the case. One thing I kind of liked was for example he could go out and do a tarp but he would have to charge me for the trip and for the tarp so that was why he kind of squeezed me in on a Saturday because he said that would save me the money of him having to do a tarp and then waiting until I come in because I was in California so I was out of state. I thought it was just kind of nice. I wasn't able to get any other quotes unfortunately because nobody was available and I must have called 9 different companies that are in the area. Just because of the previous 2 weeks that there were winds that were 60 miles an hour, a lot of homes had a lot of damage. In fact my friend was telling me that he's driving to the store and he sees all these homes getting new roofs or getting repaired. Everybody was really backed up and busy, and he squeezed me in on a Saturday. I can't say if the price is reasonable or not. He did take pictures for me because I was not there and emailed them to me so I can see all the different areas that were damaged. My friend was seeing it from the ground up, and Abel was on the roof and took pictures down so I got a really good clear picture and the sense of the amount of damage. I have nothing negative to say. The problem is my not being there and seeing the work myself. I can only go by what my friend said and he has done some construction odd jobs and he felt it was a quality job. They were responsive and timely. I have shingles available already when the roof was reroofed. I needed a whole roof, but I did not want to put up the money yet but I might be getting some kind of other construction work done on the house. It is sort of a past job, and to save money I could use the shingles. To be perfectly honest, I thought $800 is a little high even though there were 5 areas and 1 was pretty bad. I have no idea what is reasonable and I don't have anything to compare it to. When I am buying and I am not there, I am 2,000 miles away and all I know is I don't want any more damage to my house especially when it is already pouring everyday. I'm told he did a good job and it was clean. It was not like stuff was left lying around. My friend did not go up on the roof and inspect it but from the ground visually, he said they did a good job. He has a little more knowledge because he himself has done some roofing in the past when he was much younger. I didn't want him going up on our roof at his age. I will be going there in about a month. I will be able to see it. Considering the other 9 companies that I called, I did have 1 or 2 that did not even return my call. I left a message and I was told by several others, everybody is backed up and busy. The fact that he did respond and squeezed me in, maybe it was kind of like helping a neighbor. He is only like a mile away from me and I am somehow just 30 miles away from his business.

Nick was my contact at Love Remodeling. After purchasing the Big Deal Nick contacted me and we set a date weather permitting. Nick and I measured the roof square footage and it exceeded the Big Deal's stated maximum. We came to a monetary agreement regarding the extra square footage and within a week they started the job. Nick estimated that the job would be completed in 4 days but the roofers worked a full day on the fifth day. The roofers showed up on time at 7 am on Wednesday and worked approx 6 hours before leaving for the day. 1 of the 4 roofers spoke English. My spanish is rusty so I was able to communicate with only the one roofer. I called Nick to ask him if I should expect the roofers back after lunch. He wasn't certain if I should. They did not return that day. The crew began at 7 the next day and worked another 5 hours and left for the day. By this time 95% of the shingles had been removed and the plywood sheathing was exposed. Nick called and told me that the inspector was due to come by Friday (tomorrow) and inspect whether the sheathing was in good enough shape to continue.I told him that the old shingles weren't completely removed yet and he sounded a little surprised but told me not to worry. The roofers showed up at 6:30 the next morning and completed the demo and left for the day after 4 hours of work. There was nothing left for them to do prior to the inspector's approval. The inspector arrived and signed the inspection sheet approving the sheathing. It was 1 pm and my concern that the job was not going to be finished by Saturday as estimated continued to grow. I called Nick to let him know that the inspector had approved the job and to bring back the roofers to continue the day's work. They did not come back that day. Saturday morning they showed up at 7 and worked until 5:30 and did not finish. I had them come back on Sunday and they finished the job by 4:00. The roof looks fantastic. I am very pleased with the quality of the 3D Malarkey shingles. Had the roofers not worked less than a half day for the first 3 days it probably would have been completed in 4 days. I think Nick is great. My opinion is that he is honest and trustworthy. He could show perhaps a little more control of the roofing crew and their schedule. That would have been better for me as there are other members of this household who were not expecting work to be done on a Sunday.

A new house to me recently and I knew about 3 broken roof tiles.  I call Rainbow Roofing and left a message and Mark called me back in a couple of hours.  I explained my concern about a few broken/missing tiles since there was a possibility of rain soon.  He came out that afternoon and walked the roof and showed me several more broken tiles.  I could tell he know what he was doing because he could tell at a glance what brand of tiles I had, along with those of my neighbors.  He showed me the differences between what was on my roof and some spare tiles the previous owner left in a shed (a few were right, but a few had a different profile).  Mark gave me an initial estimate and said he would call later once he gathered all the costs for the additional tiles he would need for the job.  He called a few hours later with a revised estimate that was lower than initially thought so I told him to proceed with the work.  He said he would get the tiles the next day and perform the work the day after.
When I got home two days later the work was done and his invoice was waiting.  Very easy and I didn't even need to be home.
I am very pleased with the work by Rainbow Roofing and I trust them not to pad the estimate with unnecassary things.  I would recommend them without hesitation.  I plan to use them again for an upcoming kitchen remodel requiring a roof penetration for an exhaust hood.

They did a fantastic job. I would use them again in the future. I had purchased a Big Deal for window cleaning on the outside of the windows. I paid a little extra to have them clean the insides of the windows. I also purchased a Big Deal for gutter cleaning through this company and will be using them soon for that.

Dos and Don'ts. Do not waste time/effort and money in getting a permit. I just recently had a room extension done, and thought to mitigate costs, I would take care of the permit issue - total waste of time and my money, not to mention that it screwed up the scheduling for S&S. I had to go to Riverside permits office and pay 400 for a permit. Not once did the inspector come out to my house and for inspection, the inspector asked Steve to take a picture and e-mail his handy work to him. That was the inspection, 400 dollars so that Steve could e-mail a picture. Again, don't waste time with permits.

I called and Mark came out that afternoon. He took a look around and saw some problems that I had not seen. He gave me a very reasonable quote and came out the next day with a partner to do the work. They did a great job and they were both really nice, too. I would definitely recommend this company for their competence, fair price, and professionalism!

I interviewed a lot of roofers. This company was incredibly professional and personable. The price was reasonable. I plan to update this report after the first rain -- after I see how the roof holds up. But over all, I'm very satisfied with their services. Update as of 4/11/11: It has rained like heck on and off for months and the roof is doing just great. I highly recommend Daniel Roofing.
Update: It has rained a lot this year and the one-year-old roof had no leaks and looks just great!
