I was smelling gas around my kitchen stove.  It was on and off but I eventually decided to call the gas company.  They found there was a small amount of gas leaking from the stove but said they wouldn't open up the stove and I would have to hire someone to do that.  So I found JMS plumbing here and hired them for the job.   They showed up early, were very pleasant, and came in to diagnose the problem.  At first they weren't sure if there was a problem and told me that the pipe line looked pretty new.  But then they found a small leak right by a valve.  The easily replaced the problem part and got everything up and running again.  Very nice, and seemed very knowledgeable.  I will definitely use them in the future.

Tony went over all my options for replacing my old tank water heater.  Whether it was to get another tank water heater or a tankless water heater.  He presented all the facts without trying to sway me one way or another.
I thought his pricing was competitive and he is really knowledgeable.  He worked with me on figuring out the optimal location for the tankless water heater and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it.
On the day of the install, Tony and Jose worked tirelessly to install the water heater.  The hot water works flawlessly and I couldn't be happier.  Tony also spent a considerable amount of time coordinating with the LA County inspector to make sure all the permits are signed off and good to go.
I wouldn't hesitate to use Tony again in the future.  For projects, I typically will have to make several bids and talk to a lot of different people to get a good sense of who to use and what my options are.  With Tony, I feel that he is honest and I don't doubt that he would do a great job for a fair price.

the original job was for the gas line replacement because gas was leaking from a very rusted gas line. Michael, the owner, came to just give me an estimate, but went out of his way to fix it for me right away since it was an emergency. very happy with that. he didn't have to do that, but he went the extra mile. it was later in the day too and he ended up finishing in the evening. very nice man. the other jobs were done by other people from his company and they were really nice as well and were professional, on time, and courteous and clearly knew what they were doing. loved the whole experience. the only thing is that they are not the cheapest out there, but i believe you get what you pay for. if you go with cheaper people, you might not get the nice service and good results. overall, i'm very happy with them and i will definitely hire them again in the future.

This provider had pretty high marks and good reviews on AngiesList so we were confident things would go very smoothly. We were quite disappointed however that we had a less than positive experience. Our water heater tank stopped working one day as we noticed there was no hot water. After trying to relight the pilot, we were unsuccessful so we called Michael's who we had never used before, and requested a service call to determine if it could be fixed or whether we would need to have a new one installed. Michael Jr was very professional on the phone. He scheduled the local technician in our area who arrived within 90 mins of the call. He came in and took one look at the tank's sticker and said they wouldn't even troubleshoot or fix a tank more than 10 years old. Ours was about 12 years old according to the sticker on the tank. He quoted a price and we agreed to begin work right away. First he drained the tank which took a little while and then once it was empty, it was unbraced and taken out. A secondary tech arrived with the new equipment and they unboxed it and proceeded to weld the pipe connections to install the new unit. Pretty soon, it was braced and filled. All went well it seemed and within about 3 1/2  hours or so, the job was complete from start to finish. We paid, and signed the invoice and asked our technician if all was good and he replied yes, you are all set. With that, the tech was on his way by early afternoon. Everything up until this point seemed to go well until a couple of hours later, we smelled gas. It started out as a faint odor, but as the hours went by, by the next day, the smell became more obvious that we now had a gas leak. The work had been completed on a Thursday and about 36 hours later, late Friday night, we had to call Michael Jr to let him know we suspected a gas leak. We asked for him to send a tech back - a different one - but he assured us the same tech would return to inspect his work to see if anything he did caused a gas leak and make any necessary repairs. We were reluctant to have the same person come back, but we just went with it and hoped for the best. Early Saturday morning, the same tech arrived. Upon inspecting his own work, he had then admitted that after making the gas pipe connection to the tank, he did not check to see if the fitting was made tightly enough. It was obvious he hadnt done any final checks to ensure that we had no leaks. Then, he finally performed a soap test and immediately, bubbles started to form. We asked if he had checked for leaks at the completion of installation, and he stated that apparently, he had forgotten to do so. He tightened the connection and the gas smelled slowly dissipated. Looking back at it, we were extremely disappointed and upset by what occurred; that something so fundamental could be so blatantly overlooked. We recognized that anyone can make a mistake or have an oversight, however, we felt that this oversight was potentially life threatening given that a gas leak could have resulted in an explosion or fire, damage, injury or loss of life. Thankfully, no injuries or damage to property or person occurred, but truly, It is hard not to consider what COULD have happened. Based on this experience, we would not use them again, regretfully.

The process took about an hour. He took apart the pipes, rebuilt the path with the included new valve and installed a support arm to secure the pipes to the house. He turned on the gas, trimmed and capped the support arm, re-lit the pilots in the water heater and furnace. He verified that gas was running through the stove and that the heater turned on and finished by squirting soapy water over all the fittings to ensure no leaks. He closed all required doors and gates, being sure that our dog didn't get out.

    GAS COMPANY
Mike was a few minutes early. This was great since I needed to get to work. He was professional, knowledgeable and efficient. He checked everything I requested and found the leak where I suspected. He gave me the option of fixing it right now and the cost would be put on my bill. I immediately agreed and he fixed a hose in minutes. He showed me the problem. I asked him several questions about an AC inspector who I had out a month early who gave me information that I believe was inaccurate. Mike said based on his inspection, he could not agree. The AC guy said I had asbestos in my vents! I trusted Mike and Gas Company more.
