    COUNTRY WOOD FURNITURE
Naturally, i had to go visit Mike Wilson and ask a couple questions.  I already knew the chances were pretty slim but I also wanted to find out if this person really exists.
Note:  I need to tell you that i did not try to provoke him or threaten any legal action.  This is about a $500 transaction that I was expecting to eat.
After i said hello and asked to discuss an invoice he jumped from his seat and started calling me stupid, ignorant and a litany of other insults.  Here is a partial list:
    --"You're stupid"
    --"You're an idiot"
    --"Learn to read"
--"I can see why your son is stupid because  you're stupid"
--"I want you to take me to court.  Please, take me to court so I can tell you what an idiot you are"
(bear in mind i never said anything related to court)
--"I see you people all the time.  You come in here and try to break your commitment"
    --"Are you really that stupid"
--"I don't care what you say about me online.  Go ahead" (be sure to check his reviews)
--"All lies, lies, lies. You're all liars"
I was completely shocked and amazed that Mike behaved this way.  Rather than just say no or negotiate a store credit he proceed to be the worst example of customer service I've every seen and one of the craziest conversations I've ever had.
He used yelling, insults and other derogatory remarks about my family to intimidate, anger and provoke me but I didn't go there.  It's not worth it.
The positive reviews about this store are in reference to an employee (Cory, i believe) and he is a shining star.  But god forbid if you have any issues be prepared for the worst retail experience of  your life.
I highly suggest you take your business elsewhere.  Dealing with Mike is just not worth the energy and anguish.
There are hundreds of similar stores that would appreciate you and your business.

    Cool Kat Appliance Repair
MIKE WAS  ON TIME AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY.  THE DISHWASHER WAS FIXED IN MINUTES.  A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE COMPARED TO SOME I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST.  I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.  HE IS A GREAT FIND.  WILL CALL HIM   IF ANOTHER APPLIANCE GOES OUT OR HAS PROBLEMS.  HIS PRICE WAS FAIR AND HE OFFERED TO FIX ANYTHING ELSE I HAD A PROBLEM WITH WHEN HE WAS THERE SINCE HE FIXED THE DISHWASHER SO FAST.  SO REFRESHING IN THIS DAY.   ANN AINE

    MARK KRAG PIANO SERVICE
The piano is a Bosendorfer parlor grand. The first time Mark tuned it, he did such a good job that I asked him back a couple of weeks later. These tunings were for a friend who is a professional classical pianist and wanted to use the piano to do recording for her new CD. She had used a recording studio before, and was not satisfied with the quality of the recoding and needed to do it over. The recording technician and the friend both agreed Mark's tuning of my piano was excellent both times for both recording sessions. The CD was created and is now being sold. We could be happier with Mark's work. My friend is also recommending him and wants to start having him tune her piano, too.
He does take a rather long time. He spent three hours each time. If you need him to tune your piano for a special event, make sure to allow plenty of time.

    Orchard Supply Hardware
They are independent and was formerly Sears.  We bought the oven for $900 as ours could not be fixed.  A couple of days later, I went on line and saw the exact same oven at Sears for $500 and called Orchard Supply.  They told me to come on down and get my $400 back.  I did.  I give them a high recommendation for doing that.

    TOWN SQUARE FURNITURE
Excellent, low pressure, price competitive service. We had done our homework on high quality, mid-level cost sofa manufacturers and decided on the Flexsteel brand. We went to Town Square Furniture on Hamilton Ave., and the store was clean and well organized. We worked with Roy who was knowledgeable, low key and willing to match a competitor's price. He was very careful to order correctly and the furniture was delivered on time, in perfect condition and by very helpful and courteous delivery guys. We were very happy with our experience there and would definitely go there for future furniture purchases.

    Bay Area Billiard Service
Once he started, he just had one excuse after another for not completing the job. After six weeks, he finally finished, and the work was fine, but he was really frustrating to work with. First he showed up and disassembled the railings and removed the old felt so the tables were left unusable. And that is when he placed the order for the new felt, but that is also when he found out the fabric that we had carefully chosen ahead of time was back ordered! And twice, after the felt order finally arrived at his shop, we were told that it mysteriously ended up going to other jobs instead of ours. When our felt finally arrived, he came out a few times to measure and do some incremental work, but he would show up unannounced or miss an appointment and have to re-schedule for access. When he finally showed up late on a Thursday afternoon to finish the work, he told a Board member that he would be on site until 10:00 PM, but he was gone within an hour because "the light wasn't right." We didn't see him again until the following Saturday. I got the feeling that our job was just "small change" to him and that he probably makes more money servicing the large billiard halls. If he treated all his customers like this, he wouldn't have a business.

    Proper Wood Finishing
Michael has done work for me before, about 7 years ago he completely sanded and refinished all the built-in shelves & desk in my home library at a cost of about $10,000.00. We also used his service to refinish the cabinets in a duplex we purchased. I thought we were going to have to replace the cabinets, but he saved us a lot of money by refinishing the cabinets, and they looked like new. He is a perfectionist about his work, and I love every job he has done for us over the years.

    Sears Home Services
I had been looking for a new dishwasher for a week. I finally bought a new dishwasher at the hardware chain that Sears owns. It was a Consumer Reports "best buy," and it had a "clearance sale" price that was much cheaper than the same model at another store. And on top of that, it qualified for a PG&E rebate. I brought it home myself, and removed the old one by myself, which my local garbage company took away for only $25. So all that remained was the installation. I probably could have done that myself too, but I was concerned about possible insurance and warranty issues, so I decided to get it "professionally installed." But I couldn't find anyone on "the list" or in the Yellow Pages to do it. So I finally gave in and made an appointment through Sears. They in turn, subbed it out to another company (which was not in the Yellow Pages). As I had already removed the old dishwasher, he just needed to attach the two hoses and a new power cord (they don't come with power cords any more!). And then all he had to do was connect everything under the sink. He was in and out in 30 minutes.

    THE ULTIMATE KITCHEN FINISH
I have a large kitchen, with double upper cabinets, so the job was big. John removed the drawers and cabinet doors, cleaned them, sanded them and refinished them with a conversion varnish finish. After a couple of weeks, he returned and spent a couple of days sanding and refinishing the cabinet faces. The result was that most of the cabinets looked better than when they were new (it is a higher quality finish). A few still had some traces of the water damage, but you really have to look to see it. Overall, I was quite impressed with the work.

    N-HANCE
Jose was very nice to deal with. I found his ad in one of those home services ad magazines that they send out. He came out, showed me samples of the work he'd done and then gave me an estimate for both the kitchen and bath. I decided to do the bath first, to see how it went. Jose and his helper worked very hard and they got rid of a lot of the staining and improved the appearance of the water stained areas. But it was far from perfect and I wasn't happy with the orange-ish tint that it added to the wood. I decided to hire another contractor (whose estimate was about double Jose's) for the kitchen work.
