Cabinet Making reviews in Camp Pendleton

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • No stress, no mess, quality showroom appearance, all done in 2 weeks. A dream come true! My cabinets are over the top with beauty. I would highly recommend this company True Grain Woodworks Inc. to anybody that appreciates high quality workmanship!

  • I contacted San Diego Kitchen Pros and 3 others about a quote for both options, but only 2 replied and came out. The SDKP representative called me back 24 hours later and said she would get back to me the next day, but really didn't called me back until 48 hours later. So after 3 days of waiting, she calls and explains that that she could schedule to have someone come out to inspect and give a quote, but would charge me $250. I was not only disappointed that she took so long, but also was surprised at the amount. I would have paid for a quote, but not this high and because it took 3 days for them to get back to me, forget it. What they didn't know, is that my insurance had agreed to replace my CUSTOM cabinets with the same quality and price. I'm glad I learned what kind of business they are now, because I imagine the problems I would have experienced if I gave them my business. In the end with my insurance agreeing to replace all my custom cabinets, I decided to use another cabinet maker that I found on this site with great reviews, super nice, very responsive and didn't charge me to come out.

  • We had a terrible experience with Kings Custom Wood Working. Gustavo Reyes came out to design a cabinet on 2/22/2014. We paid him $1050.00 up front - half his estimate. He said it would be ready on 3/7/2014.  However we never heard from him.  We made several attempts to contact them but no one ever called back. After emailing and threatening to file small claims Susana Reyes responded promising the install on April 13 however on the install date no one showed or called.  We called on the date of install but no one called back.

  • Eric knew exactly what should have been done when the drawers were first installed (by another vendor).  They should have been installed approx. 3/4" inside the cabinet space to avoid hitting the cabinet door hardware.  It was an easier fix than I anticipated and the work took him less than 30 minutes.  He left the site clean, and the result was a perfect fit.
He also gave advice on another project we have, which I plan to begin in the Spring 2015.

  • They were absolutely amazing. They make the cabinets themselves. Everything that I got is 100% Maple. There was no pressboard. I got all the joints. It's a quality construction with the drawers. My kitchen is amazing. It was less than the price for what I had to pay. If I have a problem with it, I can call the guy who made it. He will come and fix it. Not only did they do amazing work, they did it when they said they were going to do it. They were on time and they did it faster than anybody else. We don't have 6-8 weeks waiting period. They did it in a couple of weeks. They brought them here themselves. They spent three and a half to four days just installing it. They were precise and they were careful. They were clean and they were polite. They were everything you would dream about. I would use them in a heartbeat. They far exceeded my expectations.

  • The bookcases and shelves are beautifully designed and constructed.  He tied the living room bookcases in perfectly with an existing bookcase, and the floating shelves fit flawlessly into the space.  Both rooms look gorgeous.  Steve is not only a terrific craftsman with a great aesthetic sense, he is also a really pleasant person to work with. He did the work promptly, kept me up to date on his progress, installed the finished bookcases in a day, and left the house impeccable.  I would recommend him to anyone.

  • The gentleman went above and beyond and did an excellent job.  He was on time, never tried to upsell, and always responded quickly to any issues or questions that I had.  The price was reasonable as well.

  • Sooo ... here we go.  I contacted two people on this day - one off of Angie's List on the internet ... and Garage Vision Company, who was part of Angie's List whom I called and left a phone message on the answering machine.  The first person that I had contacted on the internet called back three weeks later ... needless to say, he didn't get the job (one more reason to use Angie's List!).  David, who was the owner of Garage Vision Company, called back within an hour or two after I had left the message ... a good sign.  I told him where I lived, and he said that he would come out to my home to talk with me and see what was needed.  On the very next day David came out to my home to take a look at when we needed to do.  We had a good discussion, and I showed him what I thought was needed.  He had brought samples and pictures of what he did, which made the choice easy to make.  At first I chose the color and texture of the floor, and then after that, the color of the cabinets.  He also had a computer that printed out a quite detailed pictorial diagram of what the final layout of the cabinets would look like.  Nice!
After the original discussion in the garage we both came inside while I decided just how much that I could afford to pay with these things that I wanted.  David gave a break in price since I decided to have both projects done.  But then there was a little hesitancy on my part about proceeding all at once with both things, because of my financial condition.  I would need to wait another month for the cabinets to be installed.  This little glitch didn't seem to phase David, so we proceeded to set the date for the installation of the garage floor.
The actual installation of the garage floor took place on September 18th and the 19th ... but it turned out to far more smelly than I had bargained for - especially on the second day, with the final coat of epoxy.  Really stinky!  I was very thankful that my garage was not directly connected with a door directly into the house - it was smelly enough just the way it was.  David said that the floor would be hard enough to drive my car back onto the new surface within three days, but I waited an extra two since I didn't want my car to pick up the odor from the new floor.  After five days the smell finally disappeared enough to come back in with the car.  And, I must say that it did - and still does - look exceptionally nice!  My old floor had multiple cracks on both sides of the garage with many grease and paint stains in-between.  What a relief ... and how beautiful!
Now, the next stage in the project began.  And this next step was a bit more difficult - for both of us - since I had begun to realize that the odor from the garage could penetrate into my home and I wasn't so sure that I wanted smelly particle-board cabinets placed all over my garage.  I had visions of the many trailers which had caused so much problem after hurricane Katrina - so many people had health problems because of all of the formaldehyde in the particle-board that was used in the trailers.  So, I emailed David and began enquiring about the type of materials that he used.  I have to say that David seemed to be as interested as I was in finding out about what, if any, health problems would be present with the materials that he was using .  He did almost a week of research (which is another reason that it took so long before the cabinets were installed).  What he found is that, while the cabinets are indeed made of particle-board - which will off-gas formaldehyde - every effort is made to minimize this off-gassing.  One of the things that is done is to place a covering over every surface area.  But if a person is really concerned, then David said that there is a "green" alternative which he said he could use, which would further minimize the off-gassing of formaldehyde.  This is the option that I chose, thanks to his research.
Yesterday - on the 8th of October - the cabinets were finally installed.  A beautiful, sunny day, thank goodness.  Everything was taken out of the garage by David and the person that he had brought with him, since I am somewhat disabled and couldn't do it myself.  At the same time, I also had to leave and go to a doctor's appointment.  And he worked around the chaos, being very flexible in every way.  This, I have to say for David - he is exceptionally willing to work with people with whatever their needs are.  About two hours following my return from my appointment the cabinets were completely finished.  And they looked absolutely beautiful!  They had extra spring hinges on them then is normally the case with most garage cabinets.  Also, they are commercial grade, and are able to take 100 lbs. per shelf ... which is a lot more weight than most of us will ever put on them!  Really nice, and I am very happy with them.  It would be better, though, if the "wood" grain would show more on the panels, but if that is hardly a complaint, the way that they look.  And yes, there is an odor that comes from them, but so far it doesn't seem to present a problem.  I am glad about that.
Oh, one more thing.  Since I am somewhat disabled David and his very able help helped me sort through what we could throw away and what we would put back into the new cabinets ... and all with a smile on their face and good cheer!  Would I recommend Garage Vision Company?  You betcha!  In a moment!  It pays to use Angie's List, especially when you can find people like this!
If you really want an exceptional garage floor at a very reasonable price ... along with beautiful cabinets ... you can't miss by choosing this company.  It is tops!

  • It went very well - from the very beginning, Nick and Lorraine were responsive and helpful. They understood what we needed, and went right to work. Lorraine's design was better than anything we could have dreamed, and Nick's woodwork is amazing. There was a lot of very challenging framework involved in this job, and it went beautifully. The ceiling and roof work was complicated and difficult, and went without a hitch.

  • Steve was extremely prompt and timely in every aspect of this project - from showing up within a couple of hours of a cold call I made to him based on a referral on AngiesList, to installing cabinets on time, even though he had a family emergency right around the installation date. You can count on Steve to have your cabinets installed on time. He showed us his work by taking us to a couple of houses where he had built and installed cabinets, and this helped us hugely in looking at the quality of work, and customer satisfaction. My new kitchen was part of a new house, and I needed Steve to coordinate with a number of other trades, and Steve did an excellent job of keeping his schedule while working around constraints caused by other trades. The cabinets came out really awesome, exactly as we had wanted, and he took care of every detail. We are owner-builders, so we had an opinion on every detail of every aspect of the house including cabinetry, and Steve worked really well with us. He invited us to inspect the cabinets in his shop before he brought them over to install them. Both my wife and I are engineers, so the focus on details and thorough inspection for faults is second nature to us - Steve made it really hard for us to find any issues. Perhaps we managed to frustrate Steve by not complimenting his work enough, but I feel that through the course of the project, we all got to know each other a lot better, and I would love to hire Steve to build cabinets for me again.  To summarize, Steve lets you look at his prior work (not just pictures), works with you to finalize the design, is very prompt in building and installation of cabinets, works with your schedule, takes care of the details, and can manage to keep a smile even when you're putting him through the wringer :-)

Job details: 300 sq.ft kitchen with base and wall cabinets on 3 sides and an island in the middle. The base and wall cabinets are white finish (Steve does an excellent white finish), and the island is knotty alder with a Walnut stain finish.
