Irrigation System reviews in Camarillo

    MCLM Landscape Inc
Very happy with the job performed by MCLM. The yard looks great. The team was very professional and delivered on everything as agreed. They know their stuff. I had many questions about types of trees, shrubs, etc. They had a lot of knowledge about what is what - along with recommendations - and that helped very much. We had one issue with the pavers during installation (due to miscommunication), so they ripped up some of what was already installed and resolved it right away without any argument. I was so pleased with this approach to customer service. I should also note, we had many changes in design before the project began, so there were a lot of updates to the proposal. MCLM was very patient and very helpful through this process. I chose MCLM for two reasons. First, they were "A" rated on Angie's list. Second, the lead guy who came out to see us and price the quote, Israel, is outstanding. I found this guy to be extremely knowledgeable and very likable. I hope to work with Israel again, he is one of the rare few contractors who I could say that about. I highly recommend MLCM, and I expect I will be using them again in the future as well. Our yard looks amazing. I added a couple of pics, however, please don't judge by these as they were taken only at night (this was just finished yesterday).

    Kyle Taylors Landscape and Irrigation
Kyle was very responsive when I called and left a message on a Thursday.  He returned my call immediately. I told him that we had a valve that was stuck "on". He set up an appointment for us for that Saturday to assess the situation. We had him replace all 3 underground valves that were old. He said he could do them that day. The price was very reasonable compared to a previous company I had called. While I had him here, he replaced 3 sprinkler heads that were not working properly. One was leaking underground. He was very helpful and answered some questions that I had about sprinklers and backyard lighting.
He was here from 1:00 pm until about 5:00 pm and worked very hard. Great cleanup. Very professional and courteous. I will definitely hire him again for future work !

    John Hopkins Construction Inc
The owner came and gave us a quote, and told us examples of what he could do. Prior to calling him, I had signed up Angie's List coupon for the $139 first meeting/quote with Western Landscape. I didn't need to give them any more money after they came out, until we decided to use them as our landscaper. This was in September. We talked right away after I called them. One of the owners came out after we felt we had an idea of what we wanted to do. We discussed plans for replacing plants with drought-tolerant plants, and talked about what kind of trees to go in.
When they came out prior to doing the work, the co-owner asked if I had a plan drawn up?! I thought that was their job, but he told me that he'd like me to sketch out where I would like things. Fortunately, I was an art major in school, and was able to draw a plan of our yard (not to scale) and designate what was to be in each area. John Hopkins, the person who came out, showed me samples of the different plants we could use and asked me about what colors I would like to us. I'm glad he did that, because I really don't like red or orange flowering plants, and I prefer even the drought tolerant plants not to look like succulents. I don't like the look of the desert. He was very accommodating about the color scheme, and checked with me about different colors of plants while he planned, and even later while he was buying the plants.
My biggest problem was not having a definite idea in mind of what the finished product would look like. I asked how they would divide up the grass from the planter areas in the yard. John suggested brick, and that really appealed to me, but that raised the cost by several thousand. Later, after they laid everything out, I looked at our grass, and decided that really, that should be replaced too...it was a mess. John suggested a high grade of turf (fake grass) he had been working with, and showed it to me. I couldn't believe it was fake! It was totally impressive. My husband and I talked it over, and after going through the pros and cons (price!!!), we decided to take the leap. What we had originally thought would cost us around $3,000, ended up being a $20,000 job. So be advised, and have a VERY clear plan ahead of time about what you are willing and wanting to spend and what it is you actually want to accomplish. We could have said no to any of his ideas, but when we thought about it, they made sense. If we were going to do it, we decided to do it right!
Now, our yard is a real show-stopper! Everyone who sees it, loves it. The neighbors were totally impressed. I was afraid that someone would be upset because of the fake grass, but everyone loves it. It feels like walking on carpet and is quite comfortable. Only two dislikes so far...our lawn service who cut our lawn, and our dog, who can't figure out why we have "carpet" outside. Everyone else has been really positive! In some areas, the crew laid down wood chips (it smells great, like being in the redwoods) and in some areas, there is rock. There's also some large rocks just to add interest. With the lights that highlight different areas at night, it's really beautiful!
It ended up costing a small fortune, but we did feel that we got our money's worthThe crew who did all this work, accomplished a total makeover of our yard in only 6 days! TIt includes a lot of brick set side by side, making a planter area in the center of the "grass" with two trees planted, a myriad of shrubs of different kinds using the colors of white, lavender, pink and yellow. The lawn was ripped out (rolled up, and the sprinkler system ripped out), the planter areas already existing were totally cleaned out and new soil added. The bricks were laid in only a day and a half! (beautiful job!) Where the grass was replaced with turf, they packed down the dirt at the correct level after laying lines for the electrical wires. The dirt was covered with black plastic to inhibit the growth of weeds, etc. The plants were placed in all of the planter areas and the shrubs were all planted. An irrigation system was placed all over the yard where anything living needed to be watered, and then the planter areas were filled with either rock or mulch. The last step was to put the turf in place. They did an excellent job of that! You don't see any seams, and they pounded sort of like spikes into it in rows that were close together, so that there are no wrinkles or ripples. It really looks great. On the last day, (day six) they left around 4 in the afternoon, after picking up every tiny bit of trash, picking up every tool, and John went over the upkeep with me (how the watering takes place, what to do if it gets clogged up, where the filters are, what the timing is) and they gave me lots of business cards (which I've needed to pass out) and then they left. It was an amazing transformation in less than a week!! My husband and I are really impressed with what they accomplished and how good it looks. And the nice thing is, it will only look better as time goes on, the trees grow, and the shrubs fill out. We've been enjoying it now for several weeks, and we still just love our new look!

    Alco Landscape Co
It took a lot of time to set up an appointment. I called several times. Then I got a hold of someone but they asked me to call them back tomorrow but I could not get an exact time. I called back the next day and set an appointment. There was no exact time given. We waited for the 3 hour gap and additional time and they still did not show. I was informed that they got lost and went to a different job. When he finally arrived he completely rushed the job.

Landscaper removed all turf, front and back, and replaced it with drought tolerant landscaping and drip irrigation.  John was responsive, his workers were prompt, and they did a complete clean up after finishing the project.

G&L Design Building & Landscape Inc
They replaced two or three sprinkler heads and straightened them out, I expected a tune-up to do more with adjusting the way the sprinklers worked. They also told me I wasn't using enough water and that I needed to water daily, which I didn't do because I have been living at the home for 20 years and have never needed to previously water daily to make the lawn green.

    Scarlett's Landscape, Inc.
The result largely met my expectations and largely
satisfied the terms of the contract. After the following actions were taken,
the contract is fulfilled and my expectations are met.

Irrigation water lines buried under concrete were to be
installed in tunnels made of larger drain pipe to facilitate modification or
repair in the future. This was not on the work order and the crews did not
initially do it. I discovered this and asked for the correction. That was done
    to my satisfaction.

Bare earth was to be treated with pre-emergent herbicide.
That was not done and within a few weeks, grass and weeds were sprouting
through the mulch. I contacted Scarlett about this and a crew was sent to pull
the grass and weeds and to apply the pre-emergent herbicide. This was done to
    my satisfaction.

After the one significant rain of the winter (this is in
Southern California), I found an area where water accumulated in spite of the
grading and drains. I contacted Scarlett in April about this and a crew was
sent to extend one drain by a few feet to correct the problem under their
guarantee. The same crew replaced new plants that had died over the winter,
according to their guarantee. At additional cost, they replaced the
transplanted plant with other new plants selected by me to fit into the
landscape design. All of this was done to my satisfaction.

Im glad I had this project done as it has significantly
increased my enjoyment of my property. Im satisfied with my selection of
Scarletts Landscape to produce a satisfying result at a reasonable price.
Jeremy Scarlett, his designer Jason Stetler, and his crews led by Ray were all
    consistently focused on customer satisfaction.

    Haney Landscaping Pools & Spas

July 2014 update: When Randy read the comment below about being slow to respond to fix the problems that appeared, he promptly resolved the problems. He also performed some additional improvements to the scope of the work that turned out perfect. Overall, the experience with Randy Haney and Haney Landscaping has been excellent. The landscaping has grown in and I get compliments on my beautiful yard pretty much daily.

January 2014 update: the landscaping grew in nicely. Some plants died and the cement walkway he subcontacted has cracked and separated. Randy promised to repair on multiple occasions but to date nothing has happened. This is disappointing.

January 2013 entry: Overall my recommendation is and quot;Use Haney Landscape- Randy Haney and his crew are fantasticand quot;. He did what he said he would do, on time, with the highest quality, and the smartest design.

Randy and his team were always there when they said they would be. They were on time, worked hard, were respectful to me, my property, and my pets.

Randy worked with me to get the best quality plants and prices, developed a gorgeous project design, and was an outstanding partner in this endeavor.

All the irrigation, hardscape, and planting designs were done with the highest quality. The neighborhood has a huge gopher population so they put all my plants into gopher baskets prior to planting them.

I don't hesitate to give Randy Haney my highest recomendation.

    Hammer Plumbing & Drain
Just to let everyone know, this company that used to be Hammer Company that was a sprinkler repair company family owned by Mr. Hammer was sold. Now they are a Plumbing company. I didn't realize that until I called. When they answered the phone, they didn't even ask me what the problem was with my system. Just quoted me a service charge to come out. I asked for one of the service techs I have used over the years and they said he wasn't available. I later found out he was. They sent someone out and they changed a couple of "H" caps on my drip system, and said they couldn't see any other problems. (I was getting flooding from under the ground and was pooling up. They bailed out the water also. Charged me $350.00. Before when Hammer owned it, they would send you a bill. This company is not the same. They require payment up front and are not reasonably priced !
I still had a problem after they left and called the company and they said it would cost about $700.00 to replace the plastic valve in ground with a brass valve. I told them the price was too high and went somewhere else. These new owners don't seem to be as familiar with sprinkler systems as they may be with plumbing. I have used the Hammer company for years, they were the only company that serviced my sprinklers. This company does business differently, and seems to just want to charge you as much as they can instead of solving the problem ! Would never use them again.

    Reyes Tree Service & Gardening
Juan was a day late getting started with the work. I was concerned because the company providing the roll away could have charged me for an extra day.  Once his crew got started with the work, they did a very good job.  I was impressed with the crew cleaning up after the work was done.
