    Bo Jonsson's Foreign Car Service
Work was completed in a timely manner as promised.. I was impressed with Patric's professionalism and his communication skills. He was very pleasant to deal with and I highly recommend him and his foreign auto repair shop.

    Dc Auto Service
Simon is great helping keep my old pickup truck running. He knows I want to keep costs low so he recommends only key maintenance items to perform. He greased my drive shaft, changed my fluids, spark plugs, and belts. I always get smog checks here. I also take my Honda Odyssey and Toyota Camry here for servicing.

    AUTO MEDICS
    I own a 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L.
Everything went fine with this service. It is the circumstances before and after this service that confused me.
When I first requested a quote for service, they quoted me a very high amount. I called two local Honda dealerships and 2 independent shops, and they came in anywhere from $70-$150 cheaper. I came to find out that Auto Medic's quote came with things like lubrication or doors, and other "not life-or-death" services. I had to be somewhat aggressive to ask them why they were more expensive. Only then did I discover these added services that I really didn't want, and that the other shops said were, at this point, non-essential. Only after we trimmed off the side-dishes did I bring in my SUV for dinner.
On another experience, my control panel indicated "CHECK EMISSION SYSTEM" light. My vehicle still had about 5K miles and 2 months of factory warranty left. I contacted Auto Medics, and they told me they could evaluate it for me, but that that service would cost me a minimum of $79.00. I called two other independent shops, and they BOTH were kind and INQUISITIVE enough to actually ask -- "How much mileage do you have on your SUV? How many months left do you have on your factory warranty?" One other shop - Kano Automotive in San Mateo - encouraged me to stop in for a free evaluation. I went to Kano, they hooked up my SUV to their diagnostic machine, and told me that what they found was still covered under warranty, that they could do the work for "X" number of dollars, but actually strongly encouraged me to take it to a Honda dealership for warranty-covered service. I did that, and it turned out to be covered after all, with no additional cost to me. Had it not been covered, Honda dealership told me it would have been around a $350 job. Kano also advised me that had I had them do it, it would've cost about $250-$300.
I was VERY disappointed that Auto Medics did not take this extra step to even offer the possibility that it was covered under factory warranty. Doing the match -- 2011 vehicle -- today is in 2014 -- possibly driven about 12K miles a year -- should have triggered Auto Medics to at least ASK what my mileage was, or how long I've had the vehicle. To want me to come in so they could charge a minimum of $79, to me, seems non-pro-active and lacking true customer service.
I like Auto Medics' service, but it seems like everything is more $$-driven rather than service-driven.

    AUTO MEDICS
The only reason I chose this establishment was because of the positive reviews here on AngiesList. I had worked by Auto Medics for over 10 years, and drove by it all the time, but because the building was old-looking, I guess I unfairly judged the book by its cover.
When I arrived, I noticed that the lot was full of Hondas probably from the mid-1970's to close-to-brand-new ones, which re-assured me that this place covers it all. Robert and Kris, the two managers/owners were very professional and courteous, and were very thorough in completing and explaining my work order.
My SUV was completed almost 2 hours earlier than quoted, and has been in great shape since!

    KANO AUTOMOTIVE
This establishment had been recommended by co-workers who have brought their vehicles to Kano for over 12 years (Toyota Camry owner) and 8 years (Lexus ES300 owner), respectively. Cal, the owner, seemed a little rough around the edges, but was VERY friendly and re-assuring about the services that he would be performing for me. Although it was a simple service job, when I picked up my vehicle, he pointed out the things that he did not do (and thus, saved me money) because, at that point in time, was not necessary, and gave me good concise notes on future service that would be needed. Honest guy! Love it!

    Tires Import / European Motorsports
It went as easy as can be.  Called Mike Yee (owner), he gave me bids/estimates on three (3) brands/models.  I did my research on quality, performance, retail price, etc., and factored in Mike's recommendation.  I called Mike back, chose the brand/model of tires I wanted, made an appointment.  Brought the car in, tires changed, mounted and balanced in about an hour, and paid exactly what I was quoted.

    SAMS SMOG SHOP
If I didn't live nearby, I just wouldn't imagine ever stopping here for service, since it's clearly a small shop run by a single person.  Add that its a bit unclear if the gas station garage next door is part of the shop (apparently not).  But trust me, this shop is not only convenient for me, the owner is fast, fair and handles the entire transaction in a professional manner..,, I've used other shops in Burlingame, and for my money, I'd rather trust Sam's Smog to do it right, including electronic submission of the certificate back to the DMV.

    Planet AutoWerks
The lead mechanic at Planet Saab has a wealth of information about Saabs and their peculiarities. He's upfront and fair about costs, and his level of certainty about the diagnosis and potential steps to fix a problem. He explained that the DFI in my car was faulty and shared that he could install a less expensive compatible replacement or a slightly more expensive OEM replacement -- and shared the pros and cons of each. I appreciated that he gave options and let me weigh them to make my decision.

    Nicks Honda Acura
Nick does fantastic work. He's worked on my 2009 TL for maintenance issues a few times and I will continue to service my car there. The work is meticulous, but fast, he's super friendly, and when I needed an estimate for my breaks he said he'd price it out and send it in the mail. Got it 2 days later and it was very reasonable and well below what the dealer quoted me! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone with an Acura.

    SONNEN BMW
This is a review for the Auto Sales category.  I used my insurance company's buying service to solicit quotes on a new BMW.  3 dealers were part of the process, and Sonnen had two things going for it:  the "guaranteed discount" provided through the service was slightly more than the other two, and they had 2 cars meeting my requirements in stock.  Jessy Custodio was the internet sales/manager assigned to me.  The service promises a response in 24 hours.  He provided a quote on one of the cars, meeting the promised discount, within 3 hours, fairly late on a Friday.  He emailed me over the weekend, and after I decided to lease, worked a reasonable lease offer (still honoring the discount, although the published incentive was slightly less favorable for the lease).  Since I was dealing with multiple sources, I had 2 good offers.  He helped me understand how to compare his offer to his competitor's (the competitor was not dishonest, but the two offers were not using identical terms).  We had one back and forth on price, an honest discussion about my credit, and I made a final offer, which he accepted on Sunday.  I went to get the car, and offer Sonnen my trade.  They offered right in the middle of what I thought was the trade-in range (always lower than you think; Black Book is the right number to use, which I did) and I accepted the trade-in offer.  They offered the dealer warranties (tire package and lease protection) but without any pressure, and there was no last minute sales push or other traditional tricks (granted, I haven't see that since I went with my dad in the 1980s).  I took the trade, signed a pile of papers with the sales manager (lease, proof of insurance, license plates, title for trade in, etc.) and was on my way within an hour.  I plan on using the buying service again, but even if this dealer were not in the service next time, I would definitely contact them, with my needs for a new car.  This Sonnen is BMW only, although the group has other marques and locations.  PLEASE NOTE:  I have NOT had my car serviced at Sonnen yet; this review is for AUTO SALES.  They had a nice waiting area for service, which I walked through, but that is the extent of my experience with service.
