Hospital Care reviews in Burbank

    Providence St. Joseph Medical Center
It was great, because we didn't end up waiting that long in Providence St. Joseph Medical Center's E.R. Things happened some what quickly and they had great follow up after. They called after the fact to check in on us. Everything was great with them.

It is a large hospital with lots of facilities. The quality of service is very good. The food given to patients and what is available in the cafeteria is miles ahead of what it was a few years back. My overall experience with the hospital has been positive. It is a catholic hospital and I am motivated towards that.

The Lamaze classes and the breastfeeding class, provided by a department called BabyWise, were excellent and we were so much more prepared for pregnancy and the birth because of them. The ER staff was pleasant and efficient when we went into labor and arrived after the hospital's main entrance hours. Most of the labor and delivery nurses were very friendly and helpful, some more than others though and some were a bit cold. The latter seemed to forget that I was a new mom and didn't coddle me as some of the others did. My nurse when I first arrived, however, was so helpful that I wanted to take her home with me! She was kind and considerate even when changing my bedpan (fun stuff), and she set me up with pillows all around in whatever position was comfortable, whenever I needed to move. My only complaint is that they didn't have mirrors for me to watch the birth, which was a real hope I had and one thing that I still wish I'd had. They also could have been a bit more understanding of my desire to try natural labor boosters instead of using Pitocin; they didn't give me time to try anything else but just said they needed the contractions to speed up right then so had to use the drug. I can't complain about that since it sped up my labor, but it just would have been nice to have warning so I could have tried other methods. I got an epidural about two hours after being given the Pitocin, and the guy who did it (I'm not going to attempt spelling that title . . . anasomething) was very nice, professional, and efficient. The lactation consultant, Cambria, was very attentive and helpful when I asked to have her help with baby's latch. She came to my room a few times, always willing to come back if the nurses were checking on me or anything. I love that the hospital provides such a well-trained lactation consultant and all I had to do was ask to meet with her. I also attended some of the breastfeeding support groups at the hospital after the birth, and those were very helpful. Overall, I was pleased with my experience at the hospital and plan to have future babies there.

If I ever have to go to the hospital again, I would go back there. The doctors, nurses and amp; staff were very friendly, attentive and amp; knowledgable.

Was a pretty smooth process. Second baby we've delivered at the hospital, and would come back if we decide to have more children.
