Completely unreliable. I recommend staying far, far away from this business. After several cancellations, delays, an out of country trip for 1 month and 2 claims of having received damaged parts I am out $200, have a taped piece he placed on my freezer (which did nothing and looked used), I still have no working ice machine. I have asked for a refund and have received no answer. I recommend STAY AWAY!!

Washer ended up being a real issue with a very expensive board needing to be replaced. Did not like the washer much anyway so we choose to buy new. After disassembly, diagnosing and reassembling the washer (Over an hour) he tried to not take any money. We battled and won though and he finally accepted at least a token payment. Will use forever.

    Sears Appliance Repair
The old machine was repairable, but it just came down to for not a good deal more money than the repair we could get a new machine, so we went that way. We got lucky in the timing because Home Depot was having a good sale on dish washers at that time.

Great! I contacted several companies listed on Angie's list, but only Peter Kim got back to me. He was not afraid of working on this old oven. He quoted me what I considered to be a terrific price based on previous ignitor replacements, he arrived on time, evaluated the situation and fixed the problem. Period. In the course of fixing the problem, he let me know that he would have to pull my oven out. It was heavy and he had to strain to get it away from the wall but got it moved. Before he did that, he let me know that there was potential for the bottom of the oven to scrape my tile floor, so that I could decide whether he should proceed or not. I put down a large piece of cardboard and he got the oven onto the cardboard, thereby eliminating that scraping potential. The oven hadn't been pulled away from the wall in decades and dust/dirt had built up below it. I asked him if I could clean the floor behind before he pushed it back and he waited for me to do that. Within less than an hour of his arrival, everything was done. I was and am very pleased!

Mr Shubin called back, gave me estimate, took time to tell me how to prevent mold. He appears to be an honest guy. If I have it done, or other appliance repair I will call him first. I have called Sears and I guess being corporate, could not give me an estimate. Thank you, Mr. Jeff Shubin

    Southwest Appliance Service
My dryer was broken and we were desperate to get it fixed quickly. I called Pete on Friday and he came on Saturday right on schedule. He evaluated the problem quickly and fixed it. His prices are more than reasonable, you won't ever feel you were gouged. If anyone asks me about dryer repair in the future, I will definitely recommend Southwest Appliance Service.

I called them out primarily for a broken Maytag washer, but since they were coming I also wanted them to look at issues with the matching Maytag dryer and a Maytag dishwasher.  First, with regards to the old TV commercials where the Maytag Repairman had nothing to do - that was back when appliances were still made properly with high-quality parts.  Those days are now gone due to ?planned obsolescence? by the manufacturers who actually remove material from parts if they aren?t failing relatively soon after the warranty runs out.  Six years ago we replaced a washer/dryer set that was 22 years old and still running in order to get the higher-end, newer-style high-efficiency Maytag set.  It didn?t take long for the lid mechanism on the new washer to break, making the lid very heavy to lift.  Then, about two years in, the dryer started failing to shut off when the clothes were dry.  Fortunately the clothes don?t get hot enough to cause a problem, but the ?high-efficiency? aspect of this dryer is certainly gone.  The dishwasher latch and other miscellaneous parts gave out on it a couple of years after the dishwasher was purchased.
So Karl from Shubin?s came out to see about these appliances and their respective issues.  First he replaced a plastic latch on the dishwasher door.  He said the problem is very common.  $69.12 in parts and $129 in labor for a total of $198.12.  Labor that took him about 10-15 minutes.  He had the part with him.  Next, he listened to my story about the washer and dryer.  The dryer problem I?ve already explained.  The problem with the washer was that it kept going to an unbalanced-load condition, was squeaking, was clearly having trouble with the spin cycle, and had sprayed what appeared to be a spiral splatter pattern of grease underneath the washer.  Karl then wrote up two repair quotes without ever looking at anything in either machine, apparently based only on my descriptions of the problems, saying once again, these problems are very common, and he sees the washer problem 4-5 times per month.   For a washer/dryer set that cost $1,892 six years ago brand new, he quoted a total repair estimate of $1,785 as follows:  $440 for a control board on the dryer, and $1,345 for the washer - a washer that cost $946 brand new, and would cost even less now because prices have dropped.  The notes on the repair ticket for the washer read: ?Ckd Found Shaft, Grease & Tub Assmbly Bskt Cust Wants NEW.?  (I?m not sure what ?Cust Wants NEW? refers to, as I never stated such a thing.)  Karl said that what has happened is that the shaft and parts attached to it have rusted together, so I therefore need an internal basket, an external basket, and a shaft mechanism which presumably included the bearings and seals.  We declined the repairs, and he charged us $49.95 for each repair write-up, and we paid him a total of $298.02.
Then, we decided to attempt to repair the washer ourselves, rather than having to buy a whole new one.  Bottom line, $54.25 in parts consisting of two bearings and two seals purchased from and readily available at a local industrial parts supplier fixed the problem and the washer is working like new.  There was no grease under the washer; it was rusty water caused from a failed seal that allowed the water to leak into the bearings.  The seal appears to have failed due to inadequate lubrication during the manufacturing process by Maytag.  The shaft mechanism was fine, the inner basket was fine, the outer basket was fine.  Nothing was rusted together.  The washer doesn?t need to go to a landfill, and Maytag doesn?t get to sell us a new washer just yet.
It appears that rather than disassembling the individual parts as we did, it?s easier for the repair folks to order a completed assembly of the inner and outer baskets, shaft, bearings, and seals.  Then, the repairman can open things up, easily pop the larger outer basket out, pop the new one in, and be done with it for much less trouble than disassembling all the parts to find the ones that are truly bad.  And incidentally, on Sears.com, that entire assembly was available for $288.  So the parts and labor quote of $1,345 we were given was only for $288 in parts (plus whatever minor part the lid repair may have cost - which we did not bother with).
It appears that when the repairmen and their companies don't want to do the work, they simply quote you a ridiculously high repair bill that includes parts you don't really need so that you go buy a new machine.  If, as Karl stated, he sees 3-4 of these types of washer problems every month, and if most of those result in the purchase of a new washer, then you easily see how we are being forced by the manufacturers and the repairmen to be a throw-away society.

    Un C
Tech came to home and immediately determined which line was damaged and replaced the entire line throughout the appliance.  He was very courteous and experienced in repairing my refrigerator model in an expeditious manner.  He also found time in his busy schedule to visit the same day I contacted him.  I would highly recommend him to family and friends with appliance issues. Great job!

My Kenmore dryer stopped working, so I called Un C to take a look. The technician came to check it out and found the problem was with a malfunctioning igniter. He explained the problem and told me what it?s going to cost me. He put in a new igniter part and got my dryer working perfectly. Also did a vent cleaning to make sure the air goes through unhindered by the dust that?s collected over the years free of charge.
