    Green Star Construction
We found GreenStar Construction online, and scheduled a visit with their representative. We liked that within an hour from our phone call, Jay the owner was able to come out and provide us with an estimate. We discussed different remodeling ideas, and we had a good impression of his knowledge. We appreciated that there was no pressure for us to sign right away, we liked the design ideas and we really liked the reasonable price Jay provided us for 2 bathrooms In the beginning we felt overwhelmed with all the different options for materials, Jay directed us and guided us through out the project, helped us sourcing out the materials and followed through with his promises. Initially we were worried about the outcome of installing small marble tiles on the wall since we were not sure about how it'll look at the end, but the crew was very professional, installed small subway marble tile on the wall, they made sure the tile was straight, they polished the edges and made it look very nice. By end of each they the crew updated us about the work that was done and the work that will be done in the following days. We are very pleased with Green Stars work, and we will recommend them to our friends and neighbors

    Everlast Construction
They only thing everlast does consistently is lie. They lied about needing permits to do the work, they lied about getting the permits. They lied about not hiring subcontractors. They lie about their reviews - they post fake reviews on pretty much every website, including angies list. They lied about needing money to speed up the work - took them 6 months to redo a 10x13 kitchen. They demanded money way ahead of the payment schedule. They lost payments we sent them. They hire the cheapest subcontractors they can find. They don't manage the project at all. There was literally no one on site to manage all the subcontractors. Actually there was one person - me! I had to manage the project. They had different people working on the same parts of the project, and they had no idea what needed to be done when they showed up. I had to tell them. I had to run out and pick up materials last minute because no one was managing things. This resulted in us not having the materials we actually wanted because we had to settle for whatever we could get immediately. They also built the island to the wrong size. They even replaced a window by mistake and then tried to charge us (more than the 3 previous estimates we got for that same window) for their mistake. They dumped all the trash in our backyard, where it stayed for 6-7 months. They didn't clean up the trash until they sent someone to start building the deck. And when he showed up he had the wrong size for the deck AND he had to wait until they sent someone to clean up the trash. They also demolished the deck within a few weeks of signing the contract but didn't start building the new one until 6 months later. We had a functioning deck - they destroyed it and then made us wait 6 months before even starting on the new one. And the deck they built us looks like crap. I even had the county building inspector call me personally to warn me of how badly they were building it and offered some advice to make sure they didn't make it any worse. These guys are con-men. And when you call them out on their crap and post reviews/make complaints, they resort to threatening you. They'll threaten to put a lien on your house. They'll threaten to take you to court. They'll lie and try and make it look like you are responsible for their screw ups. Look up the owner of this company - you'll see prior to everlast he worked as a locksmith and in advertising/online marketing. Would you want someone with apparently no construction experience being in charge? And how does someone with no construction or design experience supposedly come up with all these amazing designs that so many of the positive reviews claim he did personally? In the interest of being fair - they did eventually finish the work. But it took them 7 months to finish something that should have taken 2 months. And all that time we had no working kitchen and a garbage dump for a backyard. And they literally did nothing for the money we paid them. All they did was call up a subcontractor and tell them where to show up. It would have been easier and less hassle if I just hired each individual subcontractor since at least then things would have been coordinated and we would of had the right materials. If you want more details, search for everlast construction sucks. You'll find my blog with all the details.

    SOD Builders
SOD builders and his skilled team did a wonderful job at our house by remodeling our master bedroom and master bathroom. It all started with our vision in mind on how we would like to have our master bedroom and bathroom and SOD builders made it to a reality! The entire remodeling process was very well planned (which we know that the planning stage was a huge factor in the overall work) and the communication they had with us all the time was beyond outstanding. At the beginning of each step of the work, we knew the current costs of the work and we knew very well what the next step. We know that all remodeling projects can have problems and issues -- but SOD builders made the outcome of the remodeling well worth the effort. They earned our highest appreciation and we look forward to hire and working with them again in the future.

    SOD Builders
We were very impressed with the knowledge of all the people at Sod builders and mainly Ehud our project manager. Ehud was such a stress relief person when it came to any solution or improvement of existing idea, concern or even tasks that required to be addressed. All of our conversations related to the remodeling project were followed by Ehud in a timely manner. We really were impressed by the way this company worked overall and how all the required items of the project were handled in a professionally manner and in a way that everything was ordered ahead of time and ready to be used in the project without any delays. We will do more remodeling projects with SOD builders in the future and we definitely recommend them to anyone we know.

    Tim Jackson
Tim Jackson has done good quality work for my fianc in San Francisco, so he suggested I find him on Angie's List, and here we are. It turns out that because there is so much work for him in SF, Tim doesn't take jobs further out, like Daly City, where I live. However, the reason I'm writing this review is because, since he couldn't take the job, Tim recommended another handyman, Mark Young, who it turns out my fianc has also had good experiences with. Mark is coming out to give me a quote on the work, and I'd like to make it public how impressed I am that Tim didn't just turn me down and instead pointed me to a good replacement for him. Thanks, Tim!

    Saber Roofing Inc
My roof was in a sad state when I bought my house a year and a half ago. The skylights were just sheets of plastic covering the old corroded frames, and they leaked. I got three bids from companies here on Angie's List, and I chose Saber because Ryan came to my house and told me absolutely everything I could ever want to know about roofing materials, skylights, product guarantees (the best in the business), and decorative finishes for the pipes. He left me with a binder full of information detailing all the different types of materials I had to choose from and a long list of addresses of completed jobs that I could visit. And the price: it wasn't the lowest, it wasn't the highest, but it covered everything except time and materials for problems that might be uncovered once the old shingles came off. (And there was trouble! Some wood rot on the main roof, and extensive rot on the porch.) The original quote was for around $19000. Repairs and product upgrades drove it up to $22300, but it would have been more if Ryan hadn't given me a significant break on labor. The only downside to choosing Saber Roofing is that they are deservedly a very popular roofing company. There were at least 60 clients in line ahead of me before they could start my job. (They did cover the leaky skylights with a tarp to prepare for El Nio.) It was at least six months between me putting my deposit down and them starting my job. But in the end, the wait was worth it. The crews that came in were quick and professional and very good at their jobs. They got rid of all the rot and made sure that everything that needed to be fixed was fully restored before the new materials went on. The new roof, gutters, skylights, and pipes they installed all look great and are guaranteed to last. I highly recommend this company.

    Everlast Construction
Do not hire these guys, they are borderline scam artists. They start demo work right away and then when everything is destroyed, they start demanding money way ahead of the payment schedule. No one actually manages the work. Their idea of managing a project is to hire a subcontractor, tell them to show up and....that's it. Everyone who showed up had no idea what needed to be done, i had to tell them all what to do. They had multiple groups working on the same task and none of the groups spoke to each other so none of them knew what the previous group did. I can't even begin to imagine how screwed up our house would be if i wasn't here during the entire project to stay on top of things. They started work on our kitchen remodel before we even had a plan OR before they had even applied for building permits. I'm pretty sure we never would have had permits if someone from the county building dept hadn't shown up and issued a stop work notice because of the lack of permits. In the end I was actually very grateful for the building inspectors because they caught them doing subpar work multiple times. We had no kitchen for FIVE MONTHS. No deck in the back yard for almost six months. They used our backyard to dump all the trash in instead of getting a dumpster. Our backyard didn't get cleaned up until about 6 months into the project and that's only because the guy building the deck called someone to clean it up since all the trash was preventing him from building the deck. They lied to us so many times. Told us the new sliding door to the backyard was back ordered for months - it was not back ordered. It was a standard size door. Told us they were doing us a favor not charging us extra for flooring. Said the flooring was $3.50 sq/ft (we were supposed to stay under $2.50 sq/ft) I called up ONE store and got a price of $2.40 sq/ft for the same flooring. They told us they needed more money to hire more guys so they could work on multiple things at once. That never happened. Deck they built for us looks nothing like the other decks they supposedly built. i say supposedly because i know they have posted fake reviews so there's a good chance the picture they showed us wasn't even a deck they built. The deck is lopsided. Wouldn't be a big deal if this was an old deck being refinished - this was a brand new deck AND i pointed out to them it was lopsided and they said they'd correct it. They never did. Island, that they charged us a few extra thousand dollars to do a waterfall down the sides, is 4 inches shorter than what it was supposed to be and because the flooring is uneven, the waterfall doesn't go flush to the floor, there's a gap. We have portions of flooring in the corner the kitchen that were never installed because no one coordinated anything and the cabinet guys came and installed the cabinets on top of where the flooring hadn't been installed yet. Had wiring installed to hard wire the smoke detectors into the electrical - pulled down one of the smoke detectors and found out they never wired it up, just stuck batteries in it, which was also a violation of building code. Started this in august 2015, it wasn't finished until march 2016. That's seven months. And you know what they did to try and make up for this? Nothing. Not one single thing. At one point i thought they gave us a free window, but it turns out since no one was really managing the project, the guy just replaced an extra window by mistake and later on when they found out, they tried to charge us an extra $1000 for it (even though i had 3 quotes from window installers and all of them were under $1000 even for the higher end windows). As far as i am concerned, these guys shouldn't be in business. You'd be better off hiring subcontractors yourself and managing everything yourself. I wouldn't hire them to take out the trash.

    Synergy Co
It has been over a year since I moved in, so the date of service is approximate, but everything went quickly, efficiently, and professionally. It probably helped that the house was empty, but the company came in and removed every speck of asbestos-laden popcorn and left the ceiling ready for re-mudding. There were, of course, some rough spots when the old popcorn came down, but nothing I wasn't warned about and didn't expect.

    MoonDance Painting
The provider showed up without me confirming the appointment when I had to pick up my sick granddaughter from school. He said he would get back with an estimate on the work we needed done.  He called a couple of weeks later and said he was going to drop off the estimate and he literally dropped it off on the stoop, and never knocked or let us know he was outside.
