Joel responded very quickly when I requested a visit. He came the next morning, on time, and was very friendly and helpful. He had excellent knowledge and was very clear in his explanations. We would definitely call him and his team again and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient plumber.

    Fast Water Heater Company
The installer showed up almost at the end of the window and told me he couldn't install because there was only one installer and this was a two person job.  He then asked to see the installation and give me a written estimate.  The estimate he gave me was $1000. higher than the estimate I was given over the phone.  I explained that was not even close to what I had been quoted over the phone and told the installer I would more than likely have to cancel the job - which I did.
After that experience I signed up with Angie's List so I can find service providers I can trust.

Water heater was drained on Monday, but the workman did not have the proper equipment for the hose bib. As a result, a second workman had to come back the next day to replace the hose bib. It would have been better if the first workman came prepared to handle the entire job. Fortunately, my schedule was flexible so I was home the next day. It would have been a problem if I was not,
During the installation of the bib, it was discovered that the water shut off valve for my house was not working so I asked him to replace that for a separate fee, which, of course, increased the cost. Very happy overall with the work.

Moore Mechanical Heating & Air Conditioning
Throughout the process, everyone at Moore Mechanical was knowledgable, courteous, and responsive. Kevin came out and did a full load calculation, and introduced me to Byron, who would be doing the two-day installation. They answered all my questions, and provided a level of detail in their estimate that made it easy for us to understand just what we were spending our money on.
The HVAC installation went splendidly. Byron and his crew arrived on time both days, laid out blankets everywhere they would be walking and working, and cleaned up after themselves. They showed us how to use the new controllers, and let us know pretty much everything about our new system.
To me, the true test of a company is how they handle the hiccups from time to time. While we had an issue with the water heater installation, the way they handled this issue made me even more impressed with them as a company, because they proved that their promise of providing customer service the way it used to be is far more than just lip service.
One of the flex hoses they used to install the water heater started leaking the day after they installed it. Kevin and Nikole listened to my concerns, and agreed to put in a new unit. No repeated calls. No running it up the chain to different levels of management and waiting days to hear back. Just amazing customer service. And the installation of the new water heater went off without a hitch.
If there was a way to give Kevin, Byron, and Nikole an A-Plus, I would. Although I think their consistent high marks here pretty much let you know that?s the grade they?ve earned.

    Albert Nahman Services
After providing two quotes online for new gas water heaters that were not compliant with Regulation 9, rule 6 of the BAAQMD that came into force on Jan 1, 2010, salesman Gabe Kalmon visited the house and after discussing other options provided an estimate for a Vertex 90% efficient condensing heater that was compliant. This is an expensive water heater but not many options were available that complied with the new rule. Installation was done efficiently and neatly by Albert Nahman staff. Provision of an electrical outlet by a subcontracted electrician was less neat and quite messy. The heater produces condensate that needs to be piped outside to open earth. This part was facilitated by the fact that a new condensing furnace had just been installed and by ABC HVAC who had installed a second drain line under the house to be used for the water heater. Soon after installation there was water in the pan under the heater. The serviceman quickly discovered that this was due to placement of the plastic drain tube which was lowered and the problem solved. A continuing problem is that the pressure relief valve on the heater opens and allows a small amount of water to escape to the outside of the house. The manufacturer claims that this is normal and due to the expansion of the water on heating. But this did not happen when 75 gal of water were heated. They (and Nahman) suggested installation of an expansion tank or replacement of the main pressure reduction valve into the house with a valve with integral bypass. Either option will cost several hundred dollars. Since the manufacturer says this is common, it would have been nice to know this extra cost possibility ahead of time. Fortunately the heater works extremely well, with excellent recovery and high efficiency.

Visited their office and showroom, saw the 50 gallon water heater they use. the price was fair and I was given a price based on all the work and contingencies. Work done the next day, although they had to make 1 brief return visit the day after to finish installation of an overflow valve required by code.

It's a great company. They call to let you know when they will be there and they show up almost exactly on time (within minutes). The sales person (Gabe) and the plumbers themselves are friendly, helpful, and professional. Everything went smoothly and it was a huge job. They started with sheet rock people that cut 50' worth of holes in the ceiling and walls. They covered everything in sight and there was surprisingly little dust. Then the pipe installers ran hot, cold, and recirculating pipes for about 50' each. All of the joints were soldered very cleanly and they used very good looking pipe vibration brackets in the walls. The water was only off for a short amount of time on one day when they replaced the water heater, connected up the new lines and capped off the slab lines. The final sheet rock work came last and was pretty good. The ceiling does not look perfect but it's really hard to notice imperfections in the texture unless you stare at it for awhile. What we attained by doing this big job was a huge decrease in the time to get hot water to our kitchen and master bath. Originally, the plumbing took a circuitous route from the heater to the kitchen sink. I measured 70' of pipe. (Crazy, I know.) It took more than 2 minutes to get hot water at the faucet. Furthermore, it would cool off if the water was shut off for more than 15 - 30 seconds. The cement slab would suck the heat right out of the pipes. At 2 min. 21 sec. it reached 121 degrees. It left the water heater at 140 degrees. With the new plumbing, I have the recirculating pump running on a timer with push button switches in the kitchen and master bath. Press the button, the pump runs for 1/2 hour. I notice no extra energy cost using it this way. More importantly, with the pump running, I get hot water to the kitchen in 6 seconds. (That is not an exaggeration). I took extensive measurements before and after. In addition, the pipe insulation does it's job. Even when the pump shuts off, the water stays hot in the lines for a long time. I'm using far less water and less energy. The master bathroom hot water time went from 120 seconds to 9 seconds. It's been about 2 months since the installation and everything works perfectly. They have not had to come back for any repairs.
