About Us

Amy Stella works with individuals and couples, specializing in relational concerns, anxiety and depressive disorders, and problems pertaining to transitions and phase of life issues. Combining her academic knowledge with her unique understanding and empathy for each client, Amy uses a technique that combines different psychoanalytic schools of thought. Through this approach, Amy helps clients gain an awareness of previously unconscious aspects of themselves through mindfulness, mind-body integration, and attachment theory which, in turn, helps them change problematic coping mechanisms and ways of being, such as ineffective decision-making and interpersonal patterns. Amy also uses cognitive-behavioral theory to assists clients in finding adaptive ways of perceiving themselves, others, and circumstances. Behavioral interventions involve the teaching of skills needed for effective coping, communication, self-care, and symptom relief. Amy Stella works with a variety of treatment conditions that range from mild to severe and from specific (e.g., insomnia) to broad (e.g., low self-esteem). Amy Stella specializes in treatment of the following conditions: Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Relationship Problems and Concerns, Transitional Problems/ Phase of Life Disorders (e.g., divorce, new career path, marriage, children, retirement). Amy will provide a free consultation for Angie's List members. If you continue treatment with Amy thereafter, you may pay for services using cash or check. Amy offers some sliding scale fees for those who cannot afford the standard fee. If you have health insurance and would like to consider using it as a means of paying for your sessions, Amy can work with you to discover if billing your insurance company is feasible. If you have out of network benefits you will be given a monthly statement that you can submit to your insurance company, as some insurance plans reimburse a portion of the session fee. It is advised to call your insurance company prior to the first session to ask the following questions: What percentage of my bill will be paid for services obtained from an out-of-network provider? How many sessions will be covered per calendar year?
What is my deductible? What is my co-payment?
