Home Security System reviews in Beverly Hills

L.A. Security Cameras pulled me back from the cliff. They heard my frustrations and fit me into their schedule within two days. They sent a wonderful and knowledgeable technician who went to work and figured out the problem. They didn't waste time to pad the bill. I highly recommend them.

M&J Video installed a video surveillance and alarm system in my business in about 2000.  The original system included 11 cameras, constant video monitoring with recording capabilities and an interior alarm system.  The initial installation required major cabling with conduit installation.  Their consultant, Brad, performed a site survey and developed the job estimate and proposal.  I called them again in 2011 when it was time to upgrade our system.

My first contact with M&J was by phone. Brad asked questions about the type of business I had, its location, what the premises were like, hours of operation, etc.  In brief, he developed a reasonable profile of my needs before he physically visited my location.  The day he came for our appointment he was right on time and very personable.  He was efficient in his thorough inspection of my plant.  He inspected all rooms and areas and the building, inside and out.  He then sat down with me to discuss different configurations and technologies.  He was very insightful in the questions he asked about what I considered my needs to be.  By the end of our meeting he made a complete verbal proposal that included equipment, parts and labor.  He did not attempt to upsell me at all. In fact, he dissuaded me from ordering a more costly configuration because he felt my needs didn't warrant it.  That was a first for me!  When he sent me the formal written proposal it was completely in agreement with the verbal proposal he had described to me during his site visit.  His prices were highly competitive with those of other vendors.

His technician came punctually on the date I had chosen.  He worked continuously all day to complete all of the cabling, camera installations, install relays, etc.  When he was done, phase one of the job was complete.  He even cleaned up after himself and left me with a clean property (another first!).  Once the monitoring equipment was installed and configured to my site specifications, Brad came to give us a tutorial on the system's use and capabilities.  He didn't leave until my senior staff and I were comfortable with the system's operation.  So, our first contact with M&J was a great experience.

Fast forward to about ten years later when we needed to replace our recording equipment with newer, more intelligent devices.  My first call was to M&J.  True to form, I spoke to them and told them what I wanted from the system at that time.  Again, they advised me against replacing things that still worked well and wouldn't adversely impact the new technology I was installing.  Again, Brad showed up punctually, installed the new equipment and showed us how to use it and all of its abilities.  He remained accessible to us by phone when we later had questions about its functions.

M&J is an "old school" company.  They are honest, personable and efficient.  They stand behind their work and want to develop lasting relationships with their customers.  I have referred several acquaintances to them for similar work and everyone has thanked me for the favor.   There should be more companies out there like M&J.  Life would be simpler.

Installation of the thermostat went great.
The repair of the back door lock seemed to go well but shortly after he left the same issues returned- the lock not able to lock automatically without the door being pulled or pushed in a specific direction.

Stay away from Lois St Bernard and ADT, or get everything in writing, to my opinion to charge more for wireless than hard wire is a scam.Mrs St Bernard had sent a crew of 2 to perform the job, however the crew decided that they could not install the hardwire on 18 doors and offer to switch to wireless, i thought i will get a discount but did not ask for one , Mrs St Bernard shows up on the job which she previously visited ( she should have known if the hard wire was doable, in fact she claimed it was , since she signed the contract and took a 50% deposit.
On the job was my contractor ,myself the owner ,the 2 crew from ADT and Mrs St Bernard, she suddenly ask for an extra $640 to do the job wireless, when i told her it does not make sense , she acted very pushy and threaten to leave the job which she did .
Few days later her supervisor call as i wanted my deposit back immediately ,and offer to reduce the up charge  to $320.
At that point it was doing some damage control as i told him i should sue ADT.

From the start, the project went well.  No delays or problems.  Dream Technologies worked around my schedule, and even worked over the weekends to complete the job within the time they promised.

Met with the ADT rep in March when starting a whole house renovation project and subsequently contracted with ADT to provide security and installation services. Part of the renovation includes installing many new windows and doors. As this is a whole house renovation there should be no reason to have cables, wires, etc. hanging out, everything should be installed in a visually pleasing fashion. In my initial meeting with ADT I had expressed my primary objective to not be able to see security sensors on the inside of the windows. The previous windows had the sensors installed on the external screen in a discreet fashion (which is better as I found out). Rather than install them on the screens ADT recommended to install on the outside of windows and drill there so you would not be able to see the sensors. When it came time to pre-wire the house the ADT rep came over to examine the installation and everything looked good. When the installers arrived a week later they said they couldn’t drill the windows because they have vinyl cladding on the exterior which would void the warranty. The installers wanted to put wireless sensors on the windows that were the size of a soap box (very unappealing). I told them to stop and have the rep come over to the house. I expressed my disappointment at what was going on and they pressured me into another solution to put smaller sensors on the inside of the window. They said this was the only way to get it to work. I expressed my disappointment to the ADT rep and he said he would call the next day, which he didn’t. First thing the following week I contacted ADT through their national number. They passed me off to the regional manager who has yet to return my phone call. I hired another security company to finish the install correctly (SDS Alarms). They wired the window screens from the top of the window which is not only not visible but better from a security standpoint. I also couldn’t let ADT hold up my entire job. Right now I am out the several thousand I already paid ADT, the several thousand I am sure they are going to try to collect from me, payment for a second security system, and I have to pay to fix all of their damage to my windows which will also be at least a thousand dollars. My only mistake was not kicking them out permanently that day. They shouldn’t have forced me into something I didn’t feel comfortable with. I was not a window expert (although now I am unfortunately one) and was relying on the professionalism and integrity of ADT to provide the solution that I ordered not a horrible installation. I am always skeptical of large service chains for reasons such as this. Instead of waiting to do the right job, even if it means going home for the day they will just do everything to proceed and jam an install. I did try to find an independent installer but had trouble finding one on the list and nobody I knew could recommend one.

Dream Technologies was referred to us by a friend who was extremely happy with their results.  During our first meeting, we realized that the Dream Technologies team  were so knowledgeable and up to date on what is going on in home automation today.  They were friendly and accommodating to our busy schedules.  They completed the project within the scheduled time.  It is amazing how they could customize all our needs in home automation, and we can control everything from our ipad!  My family and I highly recommend Dream Technologies!!!  Outstanding and professional!  We plan to use them again in the future with our Malibu beach home.

Avi, the owner of the company, along with an assistant, worked with the contractor to efficiently install the wires with minimal damage to the house. When we were finished with the remodel, he came back to install the intercom system, speakers, cameras, alarm system, and entertainment system. He has always been responsive to questions and problems, and solves anything with a calm and methodical way that is very comforting.

I would suggest that everyone stay away from them.  I ordered my service to be transferred and everything was confirmed by someone who was very helpful.  The next thing I know, I get a bill for $496 with past due stamped on it because I assumed it was coming out of my husband’s account.  $350 was installation and the rest was the service.  They put a new keyboard in with a remote control which they were not authorized to do; there was a keypad already there and we didn’t need a remote control.  The installation was supposed to be a lot less, but the add-ons really added up.  We weren’t even able to use the service because it had a battery backup and it would go off at all hours of the night.  The neighbors were furious so the alarm never even got set.  It took them six weeks to figure out that it was a defective battery.  I wanted my service canceled but they wouldn’t because it was in my daughter’s name and they said she had signed a contract.  I spoke to two or three different people and the manager at the West Hollywood office would never call me back.  The people in billing said they would clear it up and so did the man that did the installation.   About a month and a half later I got another bill and the service will wasn’t cut off.  We wanted to see the contract that they said my daughter had signed but they never would send it so we think it was fraud.  Even if she had signed it, it wouldn’t be a valid contract because the service wasn’t in her name.  They are dishonest and I don’t know if we are going to have to go to court to work it out.  I think it was a bait and switch because I ordered one thing but they installed another.
