  • "Calstate Moving and Storage" is a a complete disaster with total lack of accountability. They did not show up on the agreed date; lack of professionality in the packing, resulting in damaged objects. Very poor communication to allow customer tracking the moving: CA loading date- then reasonable estimation of arrival date to destination, NY. Upon arrival the alleged subcontractor showed up totally unprepared, complete lack of professionality (broken English, but unfamiliar Turkish language- speaking driver, and his underage son, were the solely crew to unload the 8 wheeler truck, which included an upright piano!; truck was not equipped with unloading ramp); we had to force ourselves in order for the driver to call for extra help to complete the unloading timely and safely); almost every piece of furniture was cracked, chipped, or broken; misrouted items or stolen accounts for missing personal objects?; many dirty and already used moving boxes were used for packing, which ended up arriving broken- open. The final leg to NY was done with a U-Haul truck that was malfunctioning, dead battery, my husband had to help in calling for mechanic help, since driver unable to speak English. To our dismay witnessing powerlessly the personal property damage and appalling service of this company, we haven't yet heard from them, despite our protests and detailed written claims. The salesman representative, only contact link we have to this company, Al Williams, has disappeared in total lack of accountability, despite multiple requests for his manager's name and phone number. The Claims Department we have been referred to, does not seem to exist given not a single email response to our multiple attempts to reach them. The moving was completed October 1st. Unfortunately outraged and helpless feelings has been the result of our moving experience with "CalState Moving and Storage". The approximate cost of service was $8,000.00, half of it required to be paid in cash to truck driver in order for our stuff to be unloaded. So we did. We are a middle age retired couple, senior adults.

  • There were some inconsistencies in invoicing and billing especially for the delivery, install and the sales. The sales guy that we worked with quoted a different price from what the delivery folks billed. The delivery folks billed higher than them. I think it was in the end a miscommunication. The installers did a very good job and they were very quick. The price was a little high. They are kind of a high-end appliance dealership so they could potentially drop their prices and make their customers happy, but they are a high-end appliance place so we get what we pay for. Their responsiveness sort of contributed to the whole problem with the invoicing for the delivery services but it wasn't too bad. It was just that there was some delay.

  • The table pads are excellent quality covers.  They fit perfectly thanks to the magnetic connectors.  They stow away easily.  And they are really good-looking.  
     Laura, who constructed my table pads, emailed me with questions, asked if I could send photos, and made sure that I received the pads within two weeks.
    I am so impressed with Berger's both in quality of product and professionalism of staff!!

  • Mr. Custanza did everything he said he would do on-time and perfectly. This included but was not limited to, picking up the piece of furniture that needed the work, completing the refinishing so it matched other furniture and then delivering the piece back to my residence. Courteous and professional at all times. The price was as promised. Would definitely use again.

  • I'm very satisfied with their workmanship. I wanted bookcases that were shallower than standard bookcases - 9" deep. I got a specific species of wood and was able to choose how many shelves I wanted as well. The price was better than any other bookcase I could've gotten ready made at a furniture store.

  • We looked at what seems like every other possible mattress, from TempurPedic to organic, and left each store puzzled about what we really wanted and/or could live with. It felt like we were headed for a compromise solution that we didn't really want. Just walking into European Sleep Works was a pleasure. The staff is very patient, very knowledgeable, great at assessing how each mattress type fits the individual. There was never a question in our minds that we were buying the right mattress for us. And the delivery people were awesome - on time, fast, careful, and polite. The price of the mattress system was comparable to other higher-end mattresses we looked at. We also ended up buy new bedroom furniture through them (bed frame, dresser, side tables), made by Vermont Furniture Designs, which brought the total price up!

  • Both my parent's passed away recently and I was overwhelmed with the task of going through all of their stuff.  I had no idea what to charge for all of the antiques, etc.  I don't sell things for a living.  I don't collect antiques and had no idea what anything was worth.  There was SO MUCH STUFF.  
    I am a very strong and hard-working individual, however, I was terrified of having a yard sale  and being bombarded with people, selling things for much less than they were worth due to my ignorance. In addition, the thought of seeing people carry off my parent's things would have been very difficult for me.  I decided to hire an estate liquidation company and I chose Sisters.  
    Gayle was very professional, always on time, checked-in with me regularly, kind, respectful, and responsive.  Gayle said that it was their job to make it easy for me.  She definitely  did.  What impressed me the most though, was the compassionate way everything was handled.  It never felt like it was all about the money.  It felt much more like close family members or friends coming in to take care of things.  Pepe was always so very patient and reassuring when I bombarded her with questions when she was busily working.
    I cannot say enough positive things about Sisters.  They are VERY reasonably priced, extremely professional, organized, knowledgable, compassionate, responsive, and have the upmost integrity.  Gayle made a big deal out of the coin bank that they had found in the basement,  making sure that the coins were given to me and put away safely. There were probably about $6.00 worth of coins at the most.  That made me smile.  
    I am amazed by their energy and how quickly they got things done.  They are definitely a well-oiled machine.  They have their procedure down to a science and they waste no time.
    These women absolutely earn every penny that they charge.  I am truly amazed, and it is very difficult to amaze me.
    Thank you Sisters.  There truly could not possibly be any better liquidation company than you.  You are the best.

  • The owner was great.  He took time to go through the options with us, and gave us the best deal. Price includes install and purchasing the unit. He was about $500 less than others that I had checked including installation. Moises is also great, and very fast.

  • Being one's own general contractor is not for sissies. Yes, I made some errors but luckily no deal-breakers or costly flubs. I was fortunate and grateful to receive the value for our money which I did, working both with bids from sub-contractors in the trades and with talented builders who worked on time and materials. I diligently scoured Craig's List and ranged over the entire Bay Area and found excellent components of our project at good prices. I am retired and had the luxury to make this endeavor my occupation for six months or so and I can say with certainty that I couldn't have done it had I needed to hold down a regular job at the same time. The most vexing phase was obtaining permits, although my experience compares well with others I've met who are still in quagmires and discouragement.
    The delay in obtaining permits caused anxiety because we were moving into the rainy season and when you have demolished the back wall of your house you find yourself in an uncomfortable spot. On several occasions Henry Gutman was a helpful resource and assistant in meeting challenges. We, at this writing, are still finishing odds and ends of things, much of which I am doing myself, and we are yet to fully furnish and move in. Close enough, however, to testify that Ecomodern was a terrific asset in pulling this off. Should I endeavor another project like this, he will get my call.

  • Fantastic company. They bent over backwards to accomodate my schedule, and they were professional, on time, polite, and moved everything without a scratch. My antique grand piano did not even go out of tune in the slightest. I highly recommend them.
