    5-Star Moving
inhad to move out by midnight and planned to do everything myself but pulled a muscle in my back and a friend used these guys only a few weeks early.  They were faster than I could have done it and reasonably inexpensive.  Not sure they even took a break...

    great experience overall!

    West Coast Moving Systems
I bought a West Coast Moving Systems coupon through Angie's List for "A 26-Foot Moving Truck and a 2-Person Crew for 3 Hours" on Friday 6/17. The email I got from Angie's List said West Coast Moving would "reach out to you to schedule soon!" Strike One -- By 11 am the next day no one had called. I had a deadline of June 30 so I called them. Strike Two -- I talked to Robert (their scheduler) and explained what I needed. He couldn't find a slot for me, but said he would "keep looking" -- whatever that means. Meanwhile he passed me off to a "salesperson". Strike Three -- The salesperson (Mauricia?) spent 10 minutes taking all my information and details about the move. I asked a simple question, "When does the 3-hour coupon time start and end?" She didn't know. She said she would call me back in less than 1 and 1/2 hours. She never called back. By noon the following Monday no one from West Coast Moving Systems had called me. Fortunately I cancelled the coupon at this point and hired someone else. It is now a week after I called them and no one from West Coast has ever called me back. They never called to tell me they couldn't find any availability in the next 2 weeks. They never answered any of my questions. Clearly these people were not interested in my small move which probably would have been completely covered by the coupon. Probably they are not interested in any small moves. So why do they offer these coupons? Bait and Switch?

Words are not enough! This company is absolutely the best! We have moved all over the world and we've  never experienced such conscientious, hard-working, careful and enthusiastic movers as we did with Magic Moving! They came in got right to work placing floor protection, blankets on doors, wrapping furniture, packing tv's and very quickly emptied our home. 4 bedrooms, garage and patio and we were on our way to the new house by the afternoon! Everyone was polite and took time to reassemble hutches hutches, tv's, beds, and tables. Movers carried things to and from our cars, and always making sure to put things where we wanted. My piano (my baby) was wrapped and treated like porcelain! The office staff was very helpful in planning and answering all our questions. I can't say enough good things about Magic Moving---just AWESOME! If you're planning a move these should be the ONLY people you call, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

    The Handy Movers
The day we moved back in of course it was pouring.  I was concerned about the new floors but  here they come with plastic sheeting to lay over my new carpets and flooring..  They placed everything exactly where I wanted it and so quickly it was truly amazing.
Hopefully I won't be moving again for some time but I would 100% recommend Handy Movers.. I won't use anyone else.
Excellent service from the first phone call with Kristen to each worker that came for each stage of our move.
    Highly recommend them.

Unfortunately, this move turned into a typical bad experience normal when you have to deal with a local agent for an otherwise highly regarded long distance company.  Red Ball by itself was a 5 stare outfit and went to great lengths to make the rest of the move work out good.  But we ended up paying an additional $1000 due to Magic charging for unloading at their site as part of a "local" move at overtime rates for 4 hours before they unloaded anything.

We initially filled out a request for a quote from Magic, and received a quote from Red Ball that including an amount for Magic.  We subsequently discussed the Magic part with them directly.  At no time was it mentioned that there would be a major item in the form of unloading charges at their warehouse as part of the quote.

They showed up early on the move day, and things seemed to be going pretty good the rest of the morning.  However, after a short break for lunch, things seemed to slow down significantly in the afternoon.  Since we were working with a flat 8 hour minimum charge, I got concerned that we were running short on time and expressed that to the apparent boss.  He said we were not running out of time and not to worry.

Near the end of the 8 hours, they started dumping remaining unpacked things together in a few large boxes (we had packed over 90% of the non furniture items), which caused some minor damage which we have not bothered claiming.  Then came the surprise.

Before they left, they called in to their office, and then presented the result to us.  The billing was for about $2900 versus the estimate for their services of $1500.  This included a few hundred for some additional packing materials, but the major item was almost $1000 for local unloading back at their yard.  This was also at overtime rates.  This amount had to be paid before they left.

We subsequently challenged this, especially as the unloading based on 4 flat hours seemed very arbitrary.  The Red Ball crew who unloaded us felt to simply move it off the truck would have been 1 1/2 hours and no more that 2. Also, they thought that Magic may have used warehouse unloaders who would not necessarily been at overtime rates.  Magic subsequently gave a credit of $200, abut that was only about 20% of the surprise.

Bottom line was that if we were facing charges for service as if we were doing a complete local move with them, this should have been laid out at the beginning - plus the 4 flat hours billed before they actually did anything was excessive as well as the overtime rates.

At the other end, there were no surprises from Red Ball - even as putting some of the furniture back together took some extra time.  We actually worked together in figuring them out and putting them together - with high fives all around as we finished up.  Wished somehow they had done both ends of the move.

    Shamrock Moving & Storage Inc
They were really good. They moved everything in, and worked efficiently. They were very polite and I didn't have to do a thing. Everything was exceptionally well-packed, and other than asking an occasional question, they kept their heads down and got the work done. Dishes were all safe, furniture was wrapped, and it seemed as if everything was wrapped or packed with something. From the initial estimate to the end of the move, Shamrock's team was very impressive every step of the way.

Had them move me from a 3600 sq ft home in Benica to a 2500 sq ft homThey were exceptional in every way. When issues on timing cropped up they were flexible and worked with me to figure out the best way to get things done. The crew was so wonderful. Professional, careful and cheerful. I recommend them very very highly.

They were pretty good. They showed up a little late. They worked their butts off. They actually exceeded the number of hours of work that was quoted in their bid and they honored it and did not charge us any more. They were good about not tracking things inside on the floor. Their were a couple of items that my wife wanted them to move once they got inside, and they did without complaints. Their price was fair. They did not low ball or high ball. They provide the blankets and padding and all the plastic wrap and tape.

    Metropolitan Van & Storage
They sent an agent who looked through everything and gave me a written bid. They came on time, they were very efficient and they got me moved. I thought that their price was a little high but they were a local company. I always try to use local companies because they are right here in town. If something goes wrong or if there is something that I need then they were very professional, they came back right away took care of it. As far as I was concerned the price was alright as I got what I wanted.
