A1 On Track Sliding Door Repair & Installation
Receptionist was pleasant for scheduling. A bit tricky to get an appointment with the staff apparently taking several weeks off during the summer. But once the scheduled day/time arrived, they arrived right on time, were courteous and knowledgeable, had all the necessary parts in the truck, and finished the job in about 15 min.

    Cosentinos All About Home Repairs
I contacted Consentino's today early afternoon to explain the problem. Alberto very kindly fit me at the end of the day. He arrived before 6 pm and asked if it was ok to fix the problem immediately. Of course!! He did a great job, the lock can now be lock and unlocked easily from the inside and outside and the door is not hitting the frame anymore. Thanks! My daughter won't have to fight the door anymore!

    Magnolias Locksmith
The services for the big deal through Magnolia's Locksmith and Door Company went fine. They came out a few weeks after the big deal purchase on July 28th of 2014. The cost of the big deal was 99 dollars and there were extra charges and it was actually over 6000 dollars. What stood out the most is that I thought the workmanship was good. I had a problem where he was late a few times. I possibly will use this provider again in the future.

    A Z Handyman Services Inc

It went beautifully! After each step Mr. Rizzo informed me of what he was doing. He was very patient with allowing me to stay around and watch and ask questions! I would highly recommend Mr. Rizzo and most definitely from now on, he will be one we call. He was professional and knew exactly what he was doing. You could not find a better handyman. We chose Mr. Rizzo from the excellent reviews he had received on Angie's List. We are happy to add to the reviews.

Joe did a great job on everything and much faster than I expected.  See formal review below.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have used Joe, the sole proprietor of A-Z Handyman Services, Inc., for many projects over the past ten years, though I lost contact with him for a couple of those years before I moved into a house in the mid-Peninsula about four years ago. He is easily the most reliable, creative, and efficient handyman I have ever used and can efficiently handle most any project.  I would not use any other handyman for any project, or at least would ask Joe first if he could handle it  I know he has access to assistants to handle projects that require more than one person, as he has done that for me on occasion.
About a week ago, I used Joe for about nine relatively small, widely-varied projects, described in the box "what did the provide do."  I have described a few of those projects in more detail below to give you a little more perspective about what he did for me.  All projects were done in record time and in a complete manner.
In one project, Joe had to glue together several broken wooden door and frame parts for a locked door my son had to break into to get some clothes (he did not have a key), and it looks as good as new, though still needs to be repainted.   In another project, fixing a heavy side gate so it would close, Joe could have easily chosen the standard and longer method (thus getting more compensation, as he works on an hourly basis) of taking the gate door down to fix the problem (probably requiring a lot of my assistance), but upon a close review he determined he could put in new and longer screws in such a way that they would up hold up the gate so it would close as it should.
In another project, where we had to go down to the local Ace hardware store to get a part normally needed to fix a sliding cabinet door problem, the part was not available, but Joe determined another method that solved the problem by buying a non-standard part. That saved a bunch of time and allowed Joe to fix the problem that day without having to wait for the part to come in a few days later and come back to my hose another day to complete that project.
I would trust Joe on most any project, and certainly would see if he could do them (I know he will give me an honest answer if he can't) and will even start using him as my plumber, as he quickly identified and fixed a toilet plumbing issue that I thought had been previously been fixed correctly by a locally renowned and heavily sought out plumber.  Joe is all about fixing the problem the first time he comes out, sometimes creatively, if need be, to get the job done then and not at a later date, and always efficiently in a complete manner.

    R & M Quality Windows & Doors
It was a solid core wood door roughly four and a quarter.  It was installed along with two solid dead bolts.  They did what they said they would do.  They showed up when they said they would.  Although there was a problem with the install, they made it good.  They knew what they were doing and they did the job.

    J & R Smith Construction
John was very professional and communicative, and easy to work with.  All the work was done on-time, with a prompt arrival at exactly the time promised, overall the work was good to very good.  He did have subs do the floor and lights, and he and his assistant did the wall.  The floor, lights, and wall turned out great - the wall did end up having some cracks form 2-3 months after install, but John came out and fixed it about a week after I called him about it.  On that visit, he also helped me out by chipping out my storm drain cover (cemented in) and cleaning the drainage for me, which was a huge help, since I was planning on having to have a plumber come out and do that separately.  Also, I was having appliances installed while John and his crew were working, and he kindly helped remove/replace some laminate and trim in the kitchen so that the appliance installers (one of whom randomly had had John as a Shop teacher in high school and had great respect for him!) could get their job done on time.
The only downside is that the quality of the replacement door installation was lower than ideal, with extra gapping and some less than neat painting/patching.  He came out and fixed the gap and some holes up for me, too, when he fixed the wall, but the trim still doesn't look quite right and the door/trim needs a coat of paint.  I'm planning on replacing all the baseboards and trim in my house in the near future, however, so I'll replace the door trim at that time, too.  Similarly, the hardware on the front door was a little wonkily reinstalled, BUT the repair and painting look great.  So, overall, I'd say A- (rounded up to an A), with minor points off for the doors, but otherwise great to work with and quality work.
Last note, I provided the light fixtures, flooring, and new door hardware (~$1300 total), so the total cost of the job was more like $5400 for all parts/labor/painting.

They did a profession job.  They cleaned up all their work areas.  The work was done in a timely manner.  Prices ended up the same as quoted.  There were no hidden add on fees.

The man who came out was really good. We called him and got a hold of him. He came over and did the work. He was very pleasant and very nice. He provided great service and he did not cost us a fortune. His price was pretty fair and pretty reasonable.

    5K Design & Construction Inc
It is with regret that we write this negative review of 5K Construction.  We have had 5K do numerous repair and remodel projects on our house over the years and the results, up to now, have been satisfactory.  However, the last project, which was done in the late summer of 2012, did not go well.  5K was hired to repair our rotted out laundry room door jam which involved removing and then reinstalling the laundry room door.  5K was unable to reinstall the laundry room door in a leak-proof manner.  Whenever it rained, in late 2012 and winter of 2013, water seeped in and covered a portion of the laundry room vinyl floor.  5K came out three times, during their one year warranty period, to try to fix the problem.  They installed a new door threshold and filled in a gap they had left open between the threshold and vinyl floor.  None of their repair attempts were successful.  Over the summer, we noticed the floor area near the door was soft which meant the underlayment and subfloor had rotted.  5K claimed this was a ?pre-existing

condition? even though the floor area was not soft prior to their work on the door and they had never informed us of this ?pre-exisiting? condition.   We tried to get 5K to fix the floor area but they refused to respond to our request so we hired 2 other contractors to fix the floor.  On Sept. 21, 2013 there was a strong rainstorm and water flowed in again all over the newly fixed floor!  We again, contacted 5K, via phone, email and US mail, to fix the laundry door so that it would be leak-proof. They did not

respond to any of our correspondence.  Finally we hired another contractor who discovered the threshold was poorly installed, there was inadequate weather stripping installed around the door jam and the strike plate was not tight enough for the door to close tightly against the weather stripping, which allowed water to easily come in.  He fixed all these problems.  We invited 5K to come view these solutions and asked them to reimburse us for the repair of their unsuccessful work.  They, to date, have not responded.  5K offers a one year warranty on their work.  We assume this includes a year from the time of any repairs, not just the original work.  In any event, the bottom line is that they were unable to resolve the problem.  This is poor quality work and we expected better.
