Transit Systems picked up a dining room set in Chicago and delivered in
California.  The movers themselves were very professional.  They
estimated 3-4 weeks for delivery.  We received the shipment in 6 weeks.
I was kept informed of the delays.  Great movers with great cost (other
moving companies want $1000 more).  Just don't be in a rush.

    Atlantic Express Moving And Storagae
The company did pick the furniture at the requested date and even worked around my sister-in-law's schedule. However, they underestimated the weight of the load, I believe in order to underbid their competitors such as Allied and United Van Lines. Once they had picked up the furniture they jacked up the price to the quotes I had gotten from the other two companies. After stating that they could probably deliver the load that week, they found they couldn't possibly, unless I paid them an extra $250 for express delivery, because according to the contract, they had 21 days in which to deliver. (This was between Portland, OR and Tehachapi, CA.) I had to wait another nine (9) days for the furniture. When it was finally delivered, the bedroom dressers had two deep scratches, and all the bedroom furniture was badly scuffed. None of my three calls regarding the damage to the manager, John (no last name given) have been returned.

They were prompt, polite, and careful. They moved me out on Thursday and held my belongings overnight for delivery on Friday morning.  Due to a delay in getting keys for the new house, Johns crew hasn't to wait until late afternoon on Friday to deliver my furniture, which meant they had to work until 9 o'clock at night. Despite the delay they honored the price as quoted. They were courteous and kind throughout my difficulties, and I would not hesitate to use this company again. My furniture and belongings arrived without a scratch and i appreciated the care they exhibited throughout the entire move.

    Reliable Moving & Storage
Initially I thought it went well. Movers were polite and very fast at packing and loading the truck. The problem didn't arise until I received my bill on the other end. I was quoted close on the weight, my problem really was when I was originally quoted ~$550 for packing materials and my bill ended up being ~$1250 for that line item. I called both Reliable and United and both took an extremely hands off approach. The total amount of extra boxes was 9 for the total of $700, ridiculous!
Investigating further, they and quot;forgotand quot; to put in the bid of my 46and quot; TV that was hanging on the wall in the living room. Turns out, that box alone was $360. The TV isn't even worth that!!!! I tried to convey my frustrations but it fell on fakely sympathetic deaf ears. Apparently there was just nothing they could do to fix the 2.25x multiplier on the bid for packaging. I move relatively frequently, and this is the last time I will use these people. I strongly recommend considering someone else as I have never felt so cheated in a deal in my life.

Over all it went OK.  They seemed to slow down greatly at the end of the day and we did most of the unloading ourselves.  Except for the few large pieces we had, we could have done the job ourselves by renting a truck.  We hired this company based on the quote and we believe that they should have stood by it.  They really didn't have a good explanation for the overcharges, but what can you do when they are demanding payment right in front of you with all your stuff in boxes and you just want to get it over with and unpack.  I felt that the quote was a false price and we were ambushed by the actual total which the movers must have known was going to be more. Shady business practices in my opinion.
