    The Ivy Builders
Tal and Nick run a tight ship. We did a down-to-the-studs remodel of our bathroom and it could not have turned out better. Having had a recent bad experience with our upstairs bathroom repair (resulting in major leakage, mold, and termites), we were nervous about another project. But we went from a bathroom that looked like the inside of a 1970's RV to a lovely Spanish-style spa. We love it!! The Ivy Builders came in with a great quote/proposal, stayed on time and on budget, and always let us know if something was going to cost more than anticipated (due to changes we wanted). New quotes for changes in the plan also stayed on budget. Inspections all went quickly and smoothly. Nick was professional, courteous, and timely. He communicated well, and gave good advice about the advantages and disadvantages of particular designs or finishes we were interested in, but was willing to work with "unconventional" ideas and make our plans happen. All subcontractors were excellent craftsman (this is important--we had very amateur subs with our last contractor, and it resulted in major problems), and also timely and courteous. Workplace was kept clean and cleaned up every night. Tile work (with difficult hand-made tiles) was beautiful and detailed, plumbing and electrical all perfect, etc. We could not ask for a better job, especially for such a fair price (other contractors quoted as much as twice as much!). Everything is just as beautiful and functional a year out--we've had no issues whatsoever with the work. Is it possible to say that the remodel was actually *fun*? Yeah, you know what, it really was! We will definitely use them in the future if we do any other projects, and would gladly recommend The IVy Builders to others.

The job went vey well. When problems occurred, he called me promptly and provided me with options. He also provided me with some excellent suggestions on retaining the character of the house (i.e. Refurbishing the fireplace using stone removed from front porch). Some things took longer than planned, but the quality and level of craftsmanship can not be beat. I have never seen crown molding or base boards so perfect, he does not use calking, because there are no gaps!!!!! Miles also kept the worksite extremely clean and organized, which my wife really appreciated, since she visited them daily, some times twice a day. I did get pushback form him when I tried to tell them to speed up and make suggestions on removing the wall paper Miles had his team worked 10 hrs a day to make sure that they stayed on schedule to ensure the painters had time to finish and I could move into my new home as planned. Overall, I was very pleased with the results

    Felipe Handyman Services
Every step along the way, Felipe was the go-to guy. He brought in a really excellent "crew" of craftsmen, kept to his budget and to the schedule. He coordinated his work well with our longtime plumber when it came to replacing galvanized pipe for new copper fittings. When everything was completed, Felipe made sure the site was completely clean. He was easy to work with, easy to connect to and brought along a pretty good sized smile, as well. (He was also really nice to our dog)

    Felipe Handyman Services
Felipe is a real pro from start to finish. We narrowed the focus on the simpler repairs but ended up broadening out what needed to be done because of his keen eye for what SHOULD be done. He walked us through our next and much larger project with sources, contacts, how to do as much without paying lots more. All in all, a quality guy and company.

    John E Floyd
The handyman told me that this would be a one-day project, but it ended up taking five days. I hired this provider to finish work someone else had started. He offered to take over the job, but resolved on his own to start from scratch. Besides the outrageous cost per hour, including the time it would take to shop for supplies, he seemed to want to drag the job out for multiple days. Mr. Floyd was frustrated by the job on the third day. My husband found him in the basement, kicking some of our old junk around. Junk or not, he was damaging our property. He then used one of our old tapes to prop up a pipe! At some point, I noticed that Mr. Floyd had an open cut on his arm. I made notice of it to him, but his cavalier attitude caused him to shrug it off and work on. When the job was "finished," his blood was on the walls and all over the bathroom. The worst part of it all? We can't even use the toilet without the sewage leaking into the garage. It makes no sense, because we aren't using the bathroom that was repaired. The sewage is now leaking out of the washer/dryer drain pipes in the garage. I have no idea how this happened. As the job was being finished, and my family and friends gathered for the holidays, Mr. Floyd was trying to get my family members to do work for him. He asked my teenage sons to help him take tools to his truck. He asked a friend of the family to get a part from Home Depot, and then admonished her when she didn't know exactly what he needed her to pick up.

He was happy to adjust his schedule to accommodate when my tenant and I could both be present. He was chatty, but friendly, professional, explained the job in detail and answered all questions thoroughly. He is a licesnsed contractor and I could quickly assess that he was knowledgeable about the work to be done. I normally purchase my own products and equipment, but was not able this time. Even though I neglected to specify a brand of water heater, to my surprise he showed up to the job with my preferred brand over the cheaper brands available at the local Home Depot. He brought a small crew of assistants in order to complete the job quickly and thoroughly. Once installed, he was conscientious enough to show the tenant how to operate the new unit and adjust the temperature, etc. As a woman who is both a landlord and has a career in the construction industry, I regularly come across cavemen whose attitudes I need to quickly correct. Miles was refreshingly respectful, and not at all patronizing. I will call on him again for future work. My only criticism is that he originally gave me an estimate that was supposed to cover a complete install but later charged me for additional parts.

    ADI Electrical
It was an excellent experience. They arrived on time, and were in and out in about an hour. I was told by another company that I needed the metal boxes to brace them so I was prepared to pay ADI an extra $85 per fan. It turned out I didn't need them at all, and ADI was honest enough to tell me that. I had another company come for an estimate a week or two earlier, and they told me I needed the braces, and that it was going to be a 4 hour job. Alvaro and Manuel were professional, knowledgeable, personable and efficient. What I thought was going to be a $300 job only ended up costing me $138. You certainly can't beat that! I would use their services again and recommend them to anyone who needs electrical work.

Great. Miles came with all the parts necessary and hooked up all our appliances with no problems at all. He even went and got all the parts necessary, which made our life much easier. Looking forward to having him to work in the future.

Guardian Home Services Co. AKA The GHS Co.
I had a fridge die on me and ordered a new one whose specs in reality did not match those in the advertisement.  The space that I had for my fridge was very small and only the shortest refrigerators fit there because of a cabinet just above the space.  This has been an ongoing problem so I decided to remove the cabinet to prevent this issue in the future.  After calling several handymen that I know (and being told they had no time for the job), I started at the top of the Angie's List providers and got incredibly lucky with Leon Watts and GHS on my first call.  Considering I had my new fridge sitting in the middle of my kitchen floor, this wasn't something that I wanted to live with for an extended period of time.
First, Leon ANSWERED the phone which is incredible in these days of "leave a message and I'll return your call if and when I get around to it" service providers.  When I explained the issue, he asked if I was available (which I was) and was at my house 20 minutes later.  He reviewed what I needed to have done and asked if I wanted to just remove the cabinet or to shorten it, keeping the cabinet but giving me the space I needed for the refrigerator.  He quoted a very fair price so I chose to have the cabinet shortened instead of removed altogether.  He also suggested that we shorten it not just enough for the fridge I had purchased but so that any refrigerators of standard height (which he knew) would fit in the future.  We set a day and time that week for him to do the work on the cabinet.  (We also started talking about what else he could do around my house to make my life easier--those little annoyances that aren't urgent but need attention.)
Leon arrived on time on the designated morning, set up his tools, used protective cover to close off other areas of the house from dust, and went to work.  He shortened the cabinet and cabinet doors, replaced the hinges, and remounted everything within a couple of hours and I was able to move the refrigerator into it's new spot.  He was on time, professional, and personable, in addition to doing great work in a timely fashion.
Because I was so pleased with the product and service with the initial cabinet project, I decided to ask him to work on a railing for an internal staircase for me.  Leon bought the wood, shaped it to match an existing railing, painted it, selected hardware, and installed it.  This was not a time-sensitive project so these steps were taken over a number of weeks.  I am very pleased with the look and feel of the finished product and how much safer it is to use my staircase with the railing.  I have a laundry list of items like this that I will be working on with Leon in the coming months.  He is absolutely great!  Can't say enough nice things about him.
My only regret in wiring this review is that he is so fabulous, I don't want to share him!  :)
