Appliance Repair reviews in Azusa

    Universal Appliance Service Inc
When our 4 year old dishwasher wouldn't drain we assumed there was something caught in the drain or the chopper blade so we took apart the dishwasher ourselves. We didn't find any blockage so we called universal to come out based on their positive reviews here on Angie's List.
When the serviceman arrived he seemed irritated that the dishwasher had been taken apart because he wouldn't be able to check anything or turn on the dishwasher. He took a look (literally a look) and concluded that the motor pump assembly was bad and would need to be replaced. He quoted us $420+tax, and charged us a $45 service fee. No tools were used, absolutely nothing was done. From door knock to exit was less than 10 minutes, not a tool used, not a button pushed.
Dissatisfied with the service and suspicious of the quote, I called another repair service in the area. He asked me a couple questions about what happened when it stopped working and walked me through troubleshooting the issue over the phone, without having to put the dishwasher back together. And it's FIXED!
I've come to have much higher expectations of companies with such high ratings and I can honestly say this is the first time I've felt totally ripped off by a vendor/contractor/company I've found on here.

Set original visit for 4/30; however, due to vehicle trouble appt was changed.  Miquel (Head Tech for UMC) called to advise of the problem several times and on last call was able to reschedule appt for 5/1.  Showed up promptly at noon.  Called prior to that advising of ETA.  Was personable and knowledgible.
We also discussed uneven AC flow thru vents and he said that adjustments are possible and would advise and suggest via E-Mail.  AC unit is on roof of second story and will no doubt need routine inspection in the near future.
If additional service is needed at any time, I will be contacting UMC (Miquel)!

The service man was professional checked out and analyzed the problem (most importantly he listened to what I said was the problem). He called the main office for prices of parts, etc. It was an older machine and I opted not to fix and buy a new one instead. Their prices for parts and labor were reasonable. I would highly recommend this company to any Angie's List customers. All of the other companies I called wanted $65 to $70 to come out and that was for their analysis to detect the problem - one would apply cost to repair if I had it done. The other would not. If I used them I would be out of pocket an additional $25 to $30 for their analysis to which I already knew the problem. Highly recommend SPENSER SERVICE.

I used them because I got them off of Angie's List.  Their prices were normal for coming out.  I know that everybody charges about $80 or so for service charge and labor.  Their quality was good because I don't have any problem with anything.  They were cool, nice and professional.  On the whole, it was all good.  I would use them again in the future.

The dryer stopped drying. So I called Barrett's. They said the earliest appointment would be 1 week. So, I went to the Laundromat and waited. They gave me a window of time on the appointed day, but that came and went. He was about an hour later than the window. Ralph came out and told me that the Kenmore that I had purchased had some sort of 'motherboard' electronics on it and that once that blew, it often blows the timers on the machine, also. He tried to work around the blown board (it would just mean that there would be no timers) but there had been too much damage done, and he could not. So the machine is now defunct. <:-( He was here about 10 to 15 minutes and very informative. He suggested I buy a simpler machine.

They did great.  They were here in three hours and fixed it in about an hour.  It was great because there was food in there.  They were very timely, and I would use them again.

The repairman fixed the problem and cleaned up the leak and didnt charge full price either. I would call them again for other repairs
