    Rebaza Landscaping Maintenance Services
Exceeded my expectations!!!! Claif and his crew were very professional, friendly and easy to work with. They did quality work, measuring twice and then a third time, to make sure everything was perfect. They were prompt and worked hard, sometimes more than 10 hours/day. Claif was very quick to respond to my texts and answer any questions I had. I appreciated how Claif would always double check with me when there was a choice or decision to be made. It was obvious that it was important to him that I got exactly what I wanted. I now have the backyard of my dreams, and I owe it all to Claif and his crew. I have posted both before and after photos.

    Madrone Landscapes

The project was landscaping of our backyard and it extended over spring and summer, 2014. The design was iterated with Madrone over several weeks. Each iteration of the design was simpler than the preceding, with fewer materials, but surprisingly had a higher estimated cost. At the end, it was not totally satisfactory to us, but we proceeded anyway. Madrone just seemed to not be able to capture what we wanted in the design. We have a huge oak tree and we did not want plantings under the tree. We were shocked to see that many plantings were within the dripline of the oak when they were put in. The first attempt was clearly not to the plan, so we insisted they tear out that area (including irrigation), and redo it. They refused to move plants and shrubs any farther from the tree than the plan showed. Madrone must have misfigured the extent of the tree when drawing up the plans. Communications with the foreman became more difficult at this point.

First of all, Madrone did a very good job building the hardscape: flagstone paths, flagstone floor for an existing patio wall area that had been a firepit, placement of cobblestones and boulders. The flagstones and rocks, as well as the (reduced) concrete lawn border, were salvaged from the previous landscaping. They also built a nice redwood grape arbor with seating area. Hardscape is one of their strengths.

In all other ways, Madrone did not seem to be capable of truly professional work. Soil preparation was minimal. Subsequent inspection over the last two years has revealed that the depth of preparation did not comply with project specifications in some areas. Plants and shrubs were brought in by the dozens and often left above ground for days without proper irrigation before planting. Many died, probably because their roots had dried out too much; most after the 3-month guarantee period had elapsed. Many of the plantings were hastily done without care, so that they were not firmly in contact with the ground. Some of the day workers hired by the foreman seemed to lack attention and expertise. Sometimes there were delays of several days while the foreman and workers were on other projects.

An example of poor planting technique involved the two golden cypresses that we had wanted. The first specimens were nice, appeared healthy, and were about 4 ft tall. Similar ones were planted on common ground by our local HOA about a block away. Ours died almost immediately. Madrone replaced them with inferior plants. In all, there were three replacements, and we ended up with two trees about 18 in height, one half-dead when planted. One has survived after two years, looks OK and is about 2 ft tall. The other has partially recovered, but is still half-dead. Keep in mind that we paid dearly for nice trees! Meanwhile, the golden cypresses planted at the same time around the corner from our house have thrived and are now at least 7 ft tall each!

In the planning stage, we insisted that the drainage be good. Madrones scheme for draining the lot seemed to be proper, provided that slopes were carefully determined. Much of the drainage seems to be OK, but there are two areas that have problems. One was discovered at the finish of the project. Either much of the lawn is draining outside of the drain pipe into an area that used to be dry, or there is a leak in the sprinkler system pipes. A perpetually wet area was created in which they had planted a very nice persimmon tree. It promptly died due to the wet soil and was replaced with a very inferior tree planted a few feet away. It almost died the first year, but may be reviving. Madrone sent a couple of people to look at the situation shortly after completion of the project, but they finally decided that there was probably no leak. They did not, however seem willing to do anything about the drainage in that area and stopped returning phone calls.

When rains finally came in the winter 2014, it became apparent that the drainage in another part of the lot had been seriously compromised. The rainwater backed up against the foundation, whereas it was always dry before in that area. I had noticed some accumulation of irrigation water in that area immediately after completion of the project, but the Madrone representatives said that it did not appear to be a problem. When I tried to contact them in the rainy season, they did not return my phone calls. An outfit that does not stand behind its work is not worthy of patronizing, in our opinion!

When the project was completed, I asked the foreman for a diagram of the irrigation system, showing the circuits with areas serviced, and the locations of pressure reducers and filters. He refused, saying that he did not know where everything was. He did list the approximate areas of watering of the 18 circuits, but that information was sketchy. They had used some of the existing irrigation system, tying onto it and modifying it as needed. He dodged the questions when I asked about the type of tubing and components used and told him of the high water pressures in our area. Unfortunately, they had covered over all the irrigation installation before I could inspect it.

In summary, this is not a company to consider. Their work was substandard, expensive, and they did not stand behind it. Communication was poor, partially due to the foreman and his attitude. The design was poor, with inappropriate spacings of plants and shrubs. This became very apparent as the landscaping matured.

    Rebaza Landscaping Maintenance Services

In Dec ?14 and Jan ?15,  I requested a low budget yard renovation--$10,000 was the quote, but higher prices have bumped the cost to $11,200, so I guess I'll be satisfied although some stuff was left undone.  My property in rural Atascadero (about .7 acre) had basic landscaping in the fenced back yard, but only a driveway/sidewalk in the front.

To start, they tore out 1/3 of the back lawn as requested and with a mini bulldozer levelled and scraped the area.  The torn-out grass was dumped outside the chain link fence in back.  They tore out and replaced edging for the paths around the back yard.  Instead of the raised rock flower bed in the back ($1,200), I opted to have the slope by the side of the road (and outside the side fence) planted in rosemary bushes (deer resistant and fast growing)--before it was old bark mulch and weeds.  All told, 50+ 1 gal rosemary plants went there.

Told Claif I only wanted a few plants.  It looks quite nice although he didn't listen and about 60+ 1 gal plants and 53+ 5 gal plants (10 trees and the rest bushes) have gone in both front and back.

The pathways have been cleaned up with compressed granite and a fine-grade mulch has been spread in all the beds front and back--the results of 2 truck beds of the stuff.  Massacred the oak trees (my request) that were infringing on the fenced back yard, so I had them chop back two more huge branches and everything now looks fine.

Claif tore down the two old garden planters and replaced it with one larger one that is deeper and varmit-proofed (chickenwired on the bottom) and to be drip-irrigated.  The side and front yard now have drip irrigation installed--before, there was nothing, just hardpan dirt.  They had to use an electric shovel to dig holes for all the plants.  They replaced a badly-installed corner fence post, and then fixed up the back yard gate and took away a storage shed.  The yard looks great.  A few plants in front didn?t make it and will soon be replaced and the sprinklers have had to be adjusted a few times.  Claif and his crew are doing a great job with the weekly maintenance also.

During the yard reno and since, neighbors remarked favorably about the yard improvement and neat way Claif and his crew cleaned up daily.

We have used B and B several times now over the years.
They show up on time, and actually changed their schedule around when we wanted to do a big clean up on short notice.
We have big trees around our yard and several big limbs came down.
They came out the same day we called and gave fair bid, then showed up when they said they would and did a great job.

    Rebaza Landscaping Maintenance Services
I have to commend Claif and his crew for an absolutely outstanding job. I needed to have a very large, neglected backyard on a ¾ acre lot cleaned up and landscaped before I put my house on the market. Because of his other favorable reviews on Angie's List, I decided to contact Rebaza Landscaping for a bid. Claif was one of the few landscape contractors who returned my call promptly. He met with me at the scheduled time and listened attentively to my needs for my backyard. He gave me a verbal bid, which we confirmed via text. He also was able to fit my job in his schedule within a week.
Claif and his crew transformed my yard within only 3 days. I have only rarely seen guys work so conscientiously at a job site. Claif stayed in communication with me throughout the process, often making very useful suggestions as the work progressed while staying within his initial estimate. My yard went from a weedy, dry, blank mess to one that is absolutely pristine and gorgeous with a lovely selection of perennial plants that will be stunning when mature. Our realtor ended up using five or six photos of our backyard in our real estate listing (out of a total of 16 or so)!
I have no doubt in my mind that the investment that we put into Rebaza Landscaping's work increased the value of our home substantially. I would not wait to make such an investment again. I've hired Rebaza Landscaping for the maintenance of our new home once this transaction is complete.
An added bonus is that Claif and his guys are also some of the nicest and genuinely helpful professionals you could work with. I recommend Rebaza Landscaping highly and without reservation.

    Alfredo's Landscape Maintenance
Alfredo and his crew exceded my expectations. This was the first of twice monthly lawn / yard maintance service. I had been busy with work, school...well life in general and had let the front lawn go. My landlord was less than pleased with this and I needed to find someone that didn't mind taking such a small job. It is only the front lawn at this ponit as my backyard is completely unlandscaped.
Alfredo returned my call very promptly. Stopped by that evening to meet with me and see the scope of the work. Agreed to come by a few days later to get the yard under control and then begin my twice a month schedule the following week so that I am on the schedule as a neighbor nearby.
He arrive on Saturday with crew and by the time I realzed they had arrived, they were packing up the leave. They worked very quickly and effiecently. These guys waste no time. They left no weed unpulled and no random blade of grass on the driveway. I can not be more pleased with this first service of what I can hope will be many more on a regular frequency.

Called back very soon after I left a message.  We set up a time when he would come over to give me an estimate for the work I wished to have done.  He arrived late, but he did call to let me know and told me a new time he would be here.
When he arrived I explained to him what I wanted done.  He gave me an estimate which was too high for us to afford.
    I might try him again.
