Great! These two men worked non-stop all day, in the rain, in my driveway and garage, to restore my 'new' 2005 Sienna to its former glory. It really looks like a new vehicle now - I'm amazed. They are easy to communicate with when deciding options, sealer coats, etc., and they know their stuff. Best of all I didn't have to leave my van with them all day. They came to me. Five stars! Could not be happier.

After the alignmentwas complete, I had trouble with the car turning sharply to the right.  I returned and asked about an adjustment. I was told that the work was done according to the book, and the roads are crowned and that was the problem, not the work. Upon further inquiring about this I was told that the rules about alignments were to intentionally have car pull slightly to the right to ensure safety.
The owner would not even try driving the car to see that this was a bad alignment.  I drove across country in late Oct.  After a day of fighting my car to keep it on the road I had another mechanic align the front end.  When completed he asked me what I had hit, causing the car to be so badly out of alignment. When I told him that my mechanic had just done the work 2 weeks before.  He suggested finding a new mechanic when i get home.
The remainder of my trip was a pleasure.  Because my car would track directly straight down the road.  Allowing me to enjoy all the things my trip had to offer.  Rather than spending all of my time and energy holding the car on the road.
Any suggestions for my replacement mechanic?

The project took about 2 months, but Wayne did a great job! The thing to know about Wayne's is that they have the Eureka Post Office service account. Wayne isn't looking to for extra work, he has his hands full. As such, sometimes your vehicle can take a few hours or days longer than service at other places. The upside, Wayne is a straight shooter! He's your old school auto mechanic and family friend. He won't try to sell you unneeded repairs or belittle you for your lack on auto knowledge.
I have been going here for 4 years, and I have since recommended Wayne's to a few friends with cars ranging from a Ford Truck, Jeep, Mitsu SUV, and my Tundra truck. They do great work, and are honest and fair.k.
My friend's wife often feels that since she knows nothing about cars that mechanics try to take advantage of her - not here. She trusts these guys and they have always treated her with respect and do not overcharge her.

Greg repaired my car quickly (after receiving my okay on what was needed to be done) and had it ready for me to pick up as soon as possible. For over 30 years, Greg has been my best and most trusted mechanic and I appreciate everything about his work and service on my vehicles over the years.

Specialty Foreign Auto was always my family's go-to place with foreign cars, but I'm in Arcata and happy with my local mechanic, so usually don't go there. However, when my Type-S new-to-me Acura started making a knocking noise on bumps and my usual mechanic couldn't pin it down (and doesn't really do suspension work anyway). The strut springs also looked wonky (they appeared to be missing bushings), which I though was related and had me concerned in any case.
I first tried the quick tire and suspension guys (no luck), then another place in Arcata that did suspension work, but after two weeks of trying to order parts, they eventually flaked out and I gave up and decided to go to the experts.
Which was the right call--the guys at Specialty Foreign not only manage to FINALLY track down what the noise was--a cracked ring inside a control arm bushing--but also figured out what exactly was up with the struts (bottom line, they were aftermarket ones that fit a little odd but were sold that way to begin with and the only fix would have been to buy entirely new struts and springs). The guy who was in charge of my car even took the time to show me the bum part and demonstrate what was going on.
It took them some of work, but after stumping three other mechanics, these were the guys who actually found and fixed a problem that had been bugging me for months. The bottom line is they did what it took to figure it out, and they're always very friendly and polite.
They also have a pristine waiting room, if you're stuck there for a while. If you have a foreign car--particularly a more exotic one--you can trust these guys with it.

After getting an 2004 Acura with some aftermarket modifications and a lot of not-quite-right home maintenance done on it, I started taking it to Greg at First Aid for Ailing Autos to get everything that needed fixing worked through. In addition to being a friendly, polite guy and good about getting you scheduled quickly, he's a mechanic you can trust--he's not handing the work off to semi-skilled assistants or slapping something together to get you out the door quickly. He'll take the time to figure out what's wrong and actually fix it properly, and then charge you a remarkably reasonable amount for the work.
This time out I happened to know what was wrong--the problem was pretty obviously a failing power steering pump--but even though I asked flat out for a new one he still took the time to make sure that it really was the pump before replacing an expensive part that might not need it, since the old one wasn't stone-dead, just flaky.
And, as always, the work was done quickly and right--haven't had a problem with it since. The same goes for all the other repairs and routine maintenance he did on this vehicle--everything I've taken it in for got fixed properly. Always a safe choice when I need car repairs.

My head gasket blew on my '89 chevy pickup.  My boyfriend was doing the replacement work instead of taking it to an auto repair shop.  I needed to have the valves and heads checked and if all was OK, I needed to have the heads milled to get the best surface ready for reinstallation.  I didn't know where to go so I got a referral from our local towing company.  They referred me to Complete Engine Service in Arcata.  I did not call first but just took them over to see what they thought needed to be done and prices.  They quoted me $35.00 per head for the two tests to be run and $40.00 per head if they past the tests.  Total estimate was $150.00.  I dropped off the heads around noon.  I had a call by 10:00 the next morning stating they had passed the tests, were milled, and were ready to be picked up.  The total costs matched the estimate, the heads looked beautiful, and they were completely done within 24 hours.  I worked with a gentleman named Todd and he could have taken me for much more as I had suggested I was prepared to have a valve job done at the same time but he assured me that it was not necessary and everything looked good.  I also asked if he thought I should bring in the bottom half of the engine (motor) to have it checked, but he said that the heads were in such good shape that I shouldn't bother.  Once the gasket and heads were replaced, the engine should be good to go.  Again, he passed up an opportunity to get me for more money if he had wanted to.  I was totally impressed with the service, the honesty, and the knowledge that I experienced in dealing with this company.

It is about 1/4 the price for labor than in Baltimore. They are unique to me because the computer said there was a fault for one thing but it was actually something else. They said no, you don't need this sensor you need the cam sensor. They were absolutely straight up. They could have charged me a lot more and done a lot more but they didn't. They were absolutely straight forward, great price, very professional. This is where I will go from now on.

Greg Chaffin is a true Volvo mechanic and there are not many around here, he can also work on any foreign or domestic car.  We have a Volvo and our dealership is 8 - 9 hours away, so he does our work.  He is very honest and does an excellent job.  He is not the kind of garage that you would go to for an oil change,We  you would go here to have major work done on your car.
