Appliance Repair reviews in Arcata

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • The repair went well.  They came over once and identified the problem.  They had to order the part and came back the next week to install.  Very smooth and everything seems to be working well now.  Price seemed a bit steep for the amount of labor involved but I think the charge is similar to other repair contractors in the area.  Overall a good experience and now my refrigerator is working for 300 rather than the 1500 it would have taken to replace it.

  • It went great! Not the Sears part; that was an expense of spirit and a waste of shame.  The part that really gets me is when they say, "Your time is important to us". ( My Mom would say my tongue would shrivel up and turn black and fall out if I ever told such a bald-faced lie.)  It  is important to me though, so I went to the hardware store and bought two new hoses and replaced the old ones in less time than I spent talking to all those people in Texas and Alabama and Asia.
Here's the thing I don't get.  Sears is a big old company that built its reputation on quality products back by service after sale.  It's also a big, old company that is in trouble, and it's not hard to see why.  Looking over other reviews, the primary complaint was the way people felt treated.  They felt used and abused; certainly not valued.  A surprising number of reviews stated that the repairs were not performed - like me, they found that interacting with the company was not worth it.  I've bought Kenmore and Craftsman products for 40 years, happily, but no more.  In my mind they've become mired in a corporation that no longer knows what its' values are and treats its' customers, and probably its' employees with contempt.
The next appliance I buy will be from a locally-owned appliance store with an in-house service department and a human who answers the phone.   That's Poletski's in Eureka, but nearly every city has one.

  • Our 4 year old kitchen range stopped working about the time we found a mouse had invaded our house. Harold's was the closest repair shop, so we called, and he came out the next day, identified the problem (the mouse had pee'd on a primary circuit board in the range), ordered a replacement part, which arrived the next day and provided the fix to the problem. Range works like new again, and Harold found no other damage during his evaluation.

  • I have been using them for about ten years. Their service department is really good. Their prices on new appliances is really high.
