Jacob met with us, listened to what we were looking for, and provided options. He has a good handle on designing. He gave us advice on what would work in our space and helped us decide to tear down the old laundry room to really open up the kitchen. That made all the difference. Jacob gave us a price on the spot, and a final design within a couple of days. Our project manager, responded to inquiries from us quickly. It's nice that he treated us like we were his only job.

    Thomas Parks Contracting
Thomas Parks was very good about keeping in touch with me, as we were trying to schedule a day when he and his crew could come out to do the work.
They were on time and did a good job. Since it has not rained very hard since they were out, they made sure to test out all the gutters with the water hose before they left.
    I would use them again.

    Junk King Los Angeles
II'm new to Angie's list.  I purchased a service with a coupon ($89.00 for 99.00 worth of work).  They were very prompt scheduling a date to pick up.  I did not have a lot of stuff but I could not determine on their website or through Angie's list actually how much they would take for 89 dollars.  I asked the woman I spoke with at the call center but she could not tell me.  I decided to go ahead and hire them, but I was worried because I did not have all the information I wanted.  When they did not arrive at 3 (they gave a 1-3 pm window) I gave the call center a call, and then a few minutes later, the gentleman who was driving the truck called, apologized, said they were running late and they would be here at 6 or 6:30.  When they arrived, the guy was nice and apologized again.  He looked at the stuff I had piled up and said he could only take the three torn tarps.  I was super disappointed.  89 dollars for three guys to pick up 3 tarps, toss them in the back of a truck and drive away seemed exhorbitant to me.  They said I only ordered a small pickup, and they showed me a picture which attempts to illustrate how their pricing works.  The picture still didn't make sense.  I could not tell how much junk the picture represented.  (I would suggest they show a picture of the truck they use, and then how full it would be depending on how much junk you have and connect those images to a pricing list.)  The guy said that if they took all the stuff, it would cost $285 dollars.  I was really upset but I had already paid for 89 $ worth of junk so I just let them take the tarps.  I asked if they would please reconsider taking the umbrella and small table, and I could see one of the guys felt bad.  These guys were tired, it was the end of a long day, they still had one more job to do in the dark, and so I just gave up.  In the end they took the umbrella, and the guy who gave me the receipt, who obviously felt bad, told me he would also take the door and the table.  He was nice.  But after it was all over I felt taken advantage of and I am super disappointed with the whole pricing thing; it feels like a bait and switch type of deal to me.  I know that it's hard to haul junk and it's a tough job, but there's got to be a more clear way of estimating for customers how much it will cost to take a designated amount of junk, so that people like me, who want to pay a fair price for a fair job feel good about the service in the end.  I will find someone else to haul junk in the future.

    Fox Junk Removal
Very professional, efficient and affordable. 36 years of "stuff" removed from our family garage, shed and backyard.... I'm talking even removing things from the rafters (literally).
The task was beyond my ability; as in, maybe I could have done it over a month or so.... maybe. They came in, tackled the job in a very orderly and respectful manner, swept up and were on their way in a few hours.
    Strongly recommend Fox Junk Removal!
Thank you Linda, Eric and team

    Spa Removers
Upon making an appointment about two weeks before, I was helped by Lando.  I described the spa I had and he gave me a complete description of what it would take to remove and what it would cost.  He quoted the cost to be $525.oo for complete removal of the spa, the removal of the pumps and heating equipment. He was extremely helpful to me, very professional and friendly. I made the appointment.
He called the day before to confirm time of arrival and also had sent an email reminder.  He called about forty minutes before arrival the day of the service.
He arrived with two other men and a truck with an ample and CLEAN looking trailer.  They made fast work of the removal and were careful not to damage the surrounding planter.  They capped off the gas connection and the electrical service to the spa. He offered good advise about the future use of the gas and electric lines and even suggested calling our home insurance to let them know the spa was removed (might lower liability costs). They even cut up and removed the large 2-part fiberglass cover.
They finished in less than an hour.  They cleaned up around where the spa was removed and across the backyard where all the equipment was. Lando took $25.00 off the bill because they used less cutting blades as usual. Total bill was $500.00 for removal of spa and equipment, cap off of gas and electric, hauled away everything and completely cleaned up all areas of work.
These guys are very good.  I don't write reviews, but this company was so good...I HAD TO!  And their web site answers all questions.

    Rons Hauling & Clean-Up & Tree Services

He came to the door after working for a couple of hours, "I totally lost track of time" he said and long story short he charged me $149 more. I was not planning on spending any more than the $149 I had already paid for the Big Deal. So it was not a good deal at all!!! $298 for what they did was robbery!!

I felt as though I had been taken advantage of especially since I had said my budget was the $149 that I had already paid for the Big Deal.

    Thank you, Barbara Pachano

    NorthStar Moving Co
Estimator came and way over estimated the cost but that's what they do because it is a not to exceed estimate.  It seems that they basically double what they think it will actually cost to protect themselves.  I expressed concern over a bad experience I had with another moving co so I was told I would get a VIP crew, which turned out not to be true.  I had another friend who was about to move a week after me and told him if they did a good job, I would recommend them but the job itself was not that great so I told my friend to go with someone else.  None of my floors were covered with protection and they charge me $61 for tape and plastic wrap.  I was never warned about these charges during the estimate.  They spent most of the time wrapping my furniture and I later found out that it was my choice whether or not to have it wrapped.  All I was moving was my furniture yet it took 4 hours!  My experience with these guys are no different than any other moving co. It all depends on the crew you get and usually only the foreman is decent and the rest of the guys seem like they are off the street.  I hope to have a better and different experience next time.

Update:  A client care rep followed up with me and she was courteous and professional.  She provided a refund for the materials and her follow up made a difference in upgrading my ratings.  I may even re-consider them for future moves.

    DKA Landscape Construction Inc

Dave Arnold and his crew did a wonderful job. They basically installed a patio, fire pit and fixed a drainage problem in front of our garage. They also installed a new brick walkway in our front yard.
Dave came out everyday to check on the project and to see if we were happy with the way it was going.
I can't say enough on what an outstanding crew Dave has working for him. One day I came home from grocery shopping and was unable to pull my car into the backyard. His crew stopped their work and came over and helped me carry the bags of groceries into the house.  How sweet and unexpected was that?
The work was performed on time and by highly skilled people. Great quality and we are very satisfied.
    Thank You!Steve and Shirley Rundell
