    Legacy Construction

Joe, arrived on time as agreed to estimate the job. I had a detailed estimate and scope of work within a couple of days. The price was fair and Joe began work the following Monday. He removed old paneling, light fixtures and ceiling fan it the room addition. I submitted a change order, (actually about 4 or 5 change orders by the time the project was finished) for Joe to frame in the un-insulated exposed beam ceiling, install and interior wall and door dividing the room addition into a home office and a bar. Joe also installed electrical outlets, LED lighting, ceiling fans in both rooms , a new double pane window in the office and a new double pane slider in the bar. He insulated the walls and ceiling, installed sheet rock taped and textured, painted the walls and ceiling, installed a new tile floor and installed baseboard and trim. Once he completed this addition remodel Joe immediately began phase 2, installing a stamped concrete patio and adjoining walkway and a french drain.

Joe was punctual, he would clean the work area at the end of every day. He brought a lot of great ideas to the table, all of witch we incorporated in our project. His flexibility during this remodel was above and beyond, especially since there was a period of about a week where I had daily change orders. His attention to detail, customer service, and professionalism are well above the standard of most other contractors out there. I would not hesitate to recommend Joe, and Legacy Construction.

Ace's Garage Door Repair & Installation
We bought the deal for a garage tune-up for $79. They scheduled it for 12/2, with a four hour window. Halfway through that window, I called and was told the technician was running late, but that he'd call me. He finally called, an hour after the four hour window, and without any apology, just said he would be here in an hour. I said it was too late, and they'd have to come another day. The next day they called and scheduled it for 12/4, with another four hour window. This time he did show, and immediately said we would need to replace parts which would cost $699. I asked if the $79 we had already paid was included, and he said it was. Weird, but I said to go ahead. I kept checking on him and he kept saying he was almost done. Finally, he said he was finishing up, so I got my checkbook and waited while he packed up tools. Then he tells me that he only replaced one drum because he only had one with him. Um. Okay. I asked if he had an extra opener with him as we needed to replace one. He said he did and brought it in. He then goes back to his truck, while I'm standing there waiting, and proceeds to chat on his phone for at least 15 minutes. I finally had to go out and stand at his window to get him to come back in. He then spends another ten minutes filling out the invoice. He gives it to me and it's for the full $699 plus $49 for the opener...which can be purchased anywhere for about $20. Of course, I question the billed amount, given that he only replaced one drum, and he tried to explain that he gave me the opener for free, since he didn't replace both drums. I had to point out three times that that made no sense, since the bill did not deduct the $49. Finally, he says his English isn't very good (his English was fine), and THEN he manually deducts the $49 from the invoice. Just a bit shady. Four days later, the garage door begins to catch and bind when we open it. I call them back. They schedule yet another four hour window to fix their bad work. I specifically request that they send a more skilled technician, and Nancy says she will. Guess who shows up? Mike, the same guy that had been here before. Mike makes some kind of adjustments, and then says he needs to replace the whole tube. "We won't charge you a service fee. Just the $49 for the part." you have the part? NOPE. He then tells me that he will go back and let Nancy know and they will call to schedule the replacement of the tube. Guess what?! THEY NEVER CALLED. Additionally, I will, going forward, be very wary of the 'Angie Deals' that are sent to us.

Scheduled to leave town in 48 hours, when our garage door spring broke this morning, I was in a panic.  I chose RW Garage Doors from Angie's List and gave them a call - told them what happened and needing someone right away.  The rep told me he'd contact one of his tech's and get back to me.  The tech, Ryan, called me back within the hour and was headed my way - even gave me a 20 min window of his arrival.  He was right on time, assessed the situation and provided me with verbal estimate as well as recommendations (and why).  I gave him my approval, and he went to work immediately.  He had the work done within less than 1.5 hrs including:  replacing both springs, replacing spring roller bearing with metal one (vs. nylon one which had worn); replaced all existing rollers (which originally came with the door) that were pins inside a metal sleeve with ones that had ball bearings.  All in all, he did a terrific, quick job with obvious professional knowledge.  He was courteous and cleaned up when done.  The door's operation is remarkably more quiet than ever before!!  The total cost was $399 with "senior discount," and I gave him a personal cash tip for being so quick to respond, thorough and professional.  I most strongly recommend this company and tech to anyone needing garage door services.  We are very pleased!

Everything was okay but we had a misunderstanding. I don't think that they explained us and they brought in more concrete than we needed. They did an estimate but we had extra stuff. They brought it for us and we had to pay for it, and we couldn't use it. We did the measurement but for some reason they brought in more. They left it in our backyard and we don't even need it but that is okay. It is no big deal. The service was good. I wasn't there, and it was my husband and my brother who were there, but they didn't complain about anything other than that they had way more stuff. I think that was the best price we could get, but I don't know. The quality was good but not the best. They are good.

    AC's Construction & Landscape
After our first meeting with Aaron and Caleb we were very impressed not only with their combined areas of experience and knowledge but even more impressed that they discussed a couple of our more difficult projects with enthusiasm for the opportunity to be challenged outside of their more typical job requests. Other contractors flat out did not want to build our retaining wall given our particular requests and/or wanted to default to stone (too expensive) or a wood fence (not sturdy enough.) It was apparent after subsequent meetings as we planned and fine tuned details, and even during our first couple of meetings as they finalized their proposal to us, that they paid careful attention to what we said were our needs, style preferences, and budget limitations. Every step of the way they were receptive to our input and concerns. They also always proceeded with due diligence, repaired anything that was accidentally damaged (a few minor items,) and redid sections of our deck that crew members had done that they had noticed were not perfectly straight or symmetrical.
Caleb was the only contractor who suggested a stamped concrete wall which we didn't think possible (stamping a wet, soft, vertical surface,) but Caleb thought it could be done with an experienced concrete/masonry worker handling the job, and he was willing to commit to it. This met our objectives of aesthetics, cost, and the structural integrity to withstand the impact of possibly being hit by the neighbor's cars. The wall exceeded expectations both in terms of appearance and function. It has resolved a number of nuisance issues.
We had initially discussed and then contracted with Caleb and Aaron for what we termed deck repair and restoration. Additionally, we were interested in having new benches built for our deck. Well, as a closer and more thorough evaluation of our deck proceeded that first morning, after a couple of hours, Aaron called us over to show us there was more extensive wood rot and water damage than we had initially anticipated. We asked him to randomly pull up some additional boards, and the underside of some of these boards also showed some damage. Conservatively, 50% of the deck was showing some degree of damage/decay. At this point, it was pretty obvious that it simply would not be cost effective to proceed as originally planned, especially considering the deck was 18 years old. Once we decided to have the deck rebuilt, Aaron discussed alternatives with us, and we ultimately chose a synthetic material he recommended called TimberTech. Remarkably, that same morning, gears shifted very smoothly, and Aaron, Caleb, and crew were doing the deck demo and purchasing the TimberTech in our chosen color.
Even though we spent more money than we originally intended to, and the deck took more time to rebuild than Aaron and Caleb originally estimated, the final result was well worth the expense and the wait. We love the uniform, clean appearance of our new deck and the beautiful, rich color of both our deck and finally, our pergola!
What we think was probably the most fun project, and we're sure Caleb and Aaron would agree, were the deck benches. We gave them a simple, initial design request, and general style to stay within, and the completed benches were awesome! They completed and unified our deck's appearance. They were not built on site, so they were the final item that Aaron delivered and whose appearance was a complete surprise. Even though a surprise to us, it was evident that a great deal of thought and observation of what our garden and yard looked like was taken into account in the bench's final design.
We spent several weeks with these guys because of the unexpected deck rebuild and inevitable and quot;extrasand quot; that you usually end up adding with a job of this scope. Every job completed met or exceeded expectations and all matters (financial, materials purchase etc.) were handled in a forthright, honest manner.
As a great bonus, we have finally found someone reliable, experienced and knowledgeable for routine yard/lawn maintenance and handyman services.

    Eric Nelson Construction
For me the best part of my experience with Eric Nelson Construction was Eric’s ability to explain the project. He provided websites with samples of similar decks. He explained the many available options, listened to my ideas and answered every question in a way I could understand. When he arrived with the material, even after I had approved the sample he pulled out one of the boards and held it against the back at the level the deck was going to be to double check. I was impressed that he allowed me to get a better picture in my head of what the deck would look like before starting the project. Eric built a beautiful patio deck and I will use his services again in my future home improvement projects.

I found them in the Yellow Pages. They were pretty good. They weren't the cheapest, but they had good service. They were pretty fast. They gave me a bid and they let me know it probably wasn't going to be the cheapest but they were going to stand behind their product for five years and it was going to take two people to do it, and that's what happened. I did call other people. I even called the people who originally put the garage door in, and their price was way higher and I wasn't really impressed with their product since we bought this house brand new. To me, they used the cheapest material, and their price was just so high I couldn't believe it. This place just seemed like a better company. The price was really good. They told me that the replacement on replacing a garage door like that would have been over $900, because we were thinking about just repairing it at this point, but they gave me a discount of $700 so I told them to just go ahead and replace it. The only thing that didn't need to be replaced was the motor; they replaced everything else. I was pleased. We've had it for a couple of weeks and haven't had any problems with it. I gave them an A on punctuality and responsiveness because they came the next day within the time window. They were very professional. I would hire them again.
