  • First, let me say that we are absolutely thrilled with our new patio cover. The materials and workmanship are superior and we love the look -- it's beautiful!

Frank Panter is a friendly, knowledgeable salesman. He was great about explaining all our options and gave us confidence in the company and the product. Just beware that he's a real talker! But he knows his stuff. The estimate came in fairly high compared to other companies we'd talked with, but Frank was willing to work with us. In the end, we felt the final price was more than fair for the quality of the workmanship and products.

    (NOTE:
I gave a "B" for price based on the estimate rather than the final price, because if Patio Depot wasn't willing to negotiate, we probably would have gone with another company.)

Jason was our installer, and he was awesome. He was extremely professional. His crew were careful, clean, and polite. They did a fantastic job with the installation, and everything looks fabulous and works perfectly. We love having the insulated cover. It's quiet in the midst of a downpour, without the noisy pinging I would have expected. The rain gutter works great at diverting runoff toward the lawn.

We purchased our own fan and coach lights, but Jason did the installation as part of the contract. We love having the coach lights. Not only do they look stylish, but they light up our yard nicely. Jason was kind enough to replace our basic patio wall fixture with a third coach light so everything matches. It's also been great having the extra electrical outlet. It will serve us well if we want to set up a buffet table with slow cookers or just have a place to plug in an extension cord.

Half the patio is lattice, and the half that covers the sliding door is solid. We opted to have Patio Depot install a ceiling fan on the solid side. Either through a miscommunication or assumption, the panel that Jason had wired for the fan was installed too far over, meaning the fan would have been quite a bit off center. Even though it meant disassembling two panels that had already been installed, Jason went beyond the call of duty to take apart what they'd already assembled in order to move the ceiling-fan panel to the correct place. It was an awful job, but he and his crew did it with customer satisfaction in mind. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that.

I was very impressed with Patio Depot from start to finish and would definitely recommend them. Just a couple of tips that I would have appreciated knowing in advance no matter who we hired -- things that don't occur to you till you're in the middle of the job!

    TIPS
    1.  If you're installing a ceiling fan, make sure you discuss it with the guy who does the measurements so the panels can be placed correctly. It may not be a big deal to some, but if you want the fan to be centered above a patio table or in front of a sliding door, you need to plan ahead of time. Since the fan has to be placed in the center of a 4-foot panel, that can mean a difference of several feet off center one way or the other.

    2.   Decide in advance where you want your panels to end. Our cover hangs over farther on one side than on the other because it wasn't made clear on the drawings where the panels started and ended. That was my fault, because I told the installer how far I wanted the cover to extend on one side, not realizing that it would affect the overhang on the other end of the patio cover. Because of that, our solid cover stops halfway over a window instead of covering the window. It's really not a big deal to us. It all looks fine and it hasn't mattered where rain is concerned. But again, if you are picky about exactly where you want panels to start and end, you need to plan this ahead of time with the guy who does the measurements.

  • We meet with Dave explained what we wanted (we did not have any plans drawn). Dave made a small drawing as we explained what we wanted built.  We agreed on a price and a start date.  The crew showed up as promised and work was completed on the date promised even though we had 2 days of rain during the construction.  We are so happy that we had Dave's Remodeling, Inc. as our contractor that we will not hesitate to use them again on our next project. Dave is very professional and it was great working with him. We highly recommend Dave's Remodeling, Inc
