I was very un-pleased with the whole process except how easy it was to pay for the service. Once I had paid, I was to select which days work best for an appt.. That appt time came and went. I contacted the company, which seemed to be only be 1 person, the owner and very overwhelmed. He asked me to text him my address in which I did. I had yet to hear back, so I called again a couple of days later. Again another "did you text me your address?" and while I proceeded to say I did but you never called me back, I got another "text me your address again and I will call you back". No call back. So I called Angies list to inquire about a refund. They were very helpful, but I contacted the company once more before I cancelled. He finally told me after I threatened a cancellation that he would be by my house that following Fri.. He showed up on time and with 10 plants already picked out. Thats not the deal if you read what I paid for. It was 10 plants you pick (drought or succulents) and a 30 min. consultation, which would be 2 visits. While I already knew what I wanted and didn't really need the consultation, the consultation would have been nice as maybe the company had a better idea. Those plants that he showed up with were 10 succulents. If you had any idea how big my yard was, which was approx. 3000 sq. feet and this being a 1/3rd, 10 succulents were not going to do the job. Drought tolerant plants can grow 3-5 feet wide and that would have been my selection. So to conclude, I didnt not receive the plants I wanted, the appt. took 4 weeks and he asked for additional monies for potting soil he used around each plant, once planted. Which he used prior to letting us know of the additional cost. We did not pay him for this reason.

Joe was very responsive, knowledgable and professional. His work was great and reasonably priced. I enjoyed working with Joe and would definitely use him again. I have already consulted with him on other projects.

I can not emphasize how pleased I am with the work done by Roy Schwartz and Son. From my initial contact with them throughout the entire process, everything was done in a professional manner. This began with the answering service who set up the initial appointment for a "free" estimate after hours on a Sunday evening. I really appreciated the free estimate, as I had noticed some other companies, who had lesser credentials actually wanted to charge to come out for an estimate. With regard to credentials, I will note, this is extremely important to me.  The trees I had trimmed are approximately 60 years old and shade a pole barn on the property providing much needed shade for this structure. Because of their age, I wanted them to be trimmed and thinned correctly by someone who knew what they were doing. I've seen trees that have been "lion's tailed" that are ruined forever and did not want that to happen to these trees. Roy and his son, in addition to being certified tree workers, are also certified arborists. In other words, they have the training to to the job correctly and actually enhance the natural beauty of the tree. In addition, they took their time to explain to me what and why they were going to do and they gave me a written price quote for the work, which Roy also told me would not change even if it took more time than he estimated to complete the job. I will also note, they were extremely punctual, articulate and polite. Roy showed up to conduct the estimate exactly when he said he would and he and  his crew showed up on time as well. They were also extremely considerate of my property and their equipment was clean, up to date and in excellent working order. They were very careful as they moved several large pieces of equipment around the property in some pretty tight quarters around the barn and surrounding orchard taking great care to not damage anything. I will also note, they are fully insured, including workman's comp, which I definitely appreciate.  In closing, I will just note again how pleased I was with the entire experience. My trees look beautiful...better than I even hoped for. I will definitely have them come back to do additional work on some other trees. The bottom line...If you have trees you care about, let Roy and his son trim them. You will not be disappointed in my opinion!

Dave is fantastic.  His crew poured a beautiful, large dog run in one portion of our backyard.  They also graded over an ugly, weed ridden portion of our front yard and created a clean looking gravel driveway.  Dave is a consummate professional and kept me up to date on his timeline and schedule.  His extremely professional crew showed up at least 30 minutes early each day.  They finished the job ahead of schedule and exactly on budget.  Dave LISTENED to us when we had budget concerns and presented several options to accommodate the job without breaking the bank. We are considering re-doing another section of our backyard with smooth river rock or something similar, and we will use Dave for that job.   Dave is not the least expensive concrete contractor out there, and he is not the most expensive.  His prices are fair, but above all else, his customer service is excellent and the quality of his work is exceptional.

Burgio Landscaping was efficient, friendly and offered suggestions.  Previously they replaced all of my sprinklers, to the extent possible, with a drip system that saved me hundreds of dollars in the summer months on my water bill.  I feel green and have some extra green because of the outstanding job that was done.

Do you have a large property in East County with lots of fire hazard brush and you don't know what to do with it? My husband and I tried for months to solve this problem ourselves to clear a new fence line. Remarkably difficult to find a workable solution. After 6 months of aching backs, we barely made a dent and had huge monster brush piles on our large backyard. Found Howard's ad (owner of Pioneer Landscape) through our local community network.  There were absolutely no reviews anywhere, so I was cautious about hiring. Interviewed and hired for a "one time" fence line clearing job. Howard and one other employee knocked it out in ONE sweltering day and also chipped the monster piles for a very reasonable cost (please note: I prefer not to discuss pricing on reviews). We were so pleased with Howard's work ethic and integrity that we started inquiring about other things we did not like about our property A, B, C etc.  Howard's "can do" attitude came up with solutions for every one! Nine months later our yard's function has been completely transformed.  Still have lots more work to do.  We will continue to hire Pioneer Landscape as  each step progresses. Please note as a small business owner, he is involved with many jobs and juggles them at one time, so patience is needed when scheduling. Pioneer Landscape's primary expertise is defensible brush clearing and removal, but don't let that limit you.  Howard (license is class C27 landscaping) is skilled at coming up with creative solutions for all those things that bother you about your yard.  A special shout out to brothers Nick and Scott for their contributions!  And my schnauzers absolutely adore him!

My first experience was with Mark, who decided he knew what was best and refused to do the work I asked him to. I gave the company another chance and Bill, another supervisor, is now in charge. They have specialists in tree trimming and recently removed a large dying toyon without adding a surcharge to my bill. They also have irrigation specialists who can do plumbing and test how well the sprinkler heads are working. They have moved plants, brought in replacement plants for the ones that didn't do well, and work in a crew of three, spending over an hour and sometimes twice that amount of time once a week. I've had a few problems with language, as the crew speaks little English, but they seem willing enough and if they understand they do a good job. I'd recommend using Bill to supervise your crew; he recently discovered an Africanized beehive in one of my irrigation boxes and referred me to a bee company which de-Africanizes the bees, introduces a new queen, and uses them for pollination of fruit trees around the county. I've tried other companies and so far, I've stuck with this one.

I had 4 different estimates and went with another company, however, Gary ( Sunlite Landscaping) was professional,
seemed very honest, and addressed potential problems with the hardscape ( only one other company followed suit).
I don't doubt that he would have done a great job but his price was higher than I could afford.

We've had 3 or 4 landscape maintenance companies over the past 20 years. JCMS is the best by far!! They're punctual and courteous, responsive to special requests, and do a GREAT job. We would recommend them in a heartbeat! In fact, we already have!
