    Parker Concrete
Dave is fantastic.  His crew poured a beautiful, large dog run in one portion of our backyard.  They also graded over an ugly, weed ridden portion of our front yard and created a clean looking gravel driveway.  Dave is a consummate professional and kept me up to date on his timeline and schedule.  His extremely professional crew showed up at least 30 minutes early each day.  They finished the job ahead of schedule and exactly on budget.  Dave LISTENED to us when we had budget concerns and presented several options to accommodate the job without breaking the bank. We are considering re-doing another section of our backyard with smooth river rock or something similar, and we will use Dave for that job.   Dave is not the least expensive concrete contractor out there, and he is not the most expensive.  His prices are fair, but above all else, his customer service is excellent and the quality of his work is exceptional.

    Parker Concrete
Once project was started, it was rushed which resulted in a Jacuzzi pad that had a +4% grade to it from front to back and it is also higher on both sides with a valley in the middle.  Dave Parker claimed that it was in uniform with existing pad, which is not the case.  He tried to convince us with a short electronic level and claimed it had to be uniform with existing pad.  Now, when you sit in a chair on it, it is like sitting on a hill and you are afraid you will fall over.  When confronted with the gross unevenness he claimed that in hind sight he should have stopped the construction and asked for our approval.  But instead he mad a decision to install the way it is.  He also stated that if we put furniture on it that it would hide the unevenness and you would not even notice it was there!?  When we asked him to repair it to a acceptable 2% grade he refused.  We then requested him to repair it in writing and again he refused. We are in the process of contacting the California Contractors Board and contacted his Bond company to file a claim.  We will update with those findings when done.  We want to recoup the money we will spend to get someone else in to repair his work..  I urge anyone who has had substandard work from Dave at Parker Concrete to do the same.  The California Contractors Board file only takes about 10 minutes to fill out and well worth it.  Although it can take up to 6 months or more to get a resolution.  I do not believe there is a statue of limitations, but my contract stated one year.  Do not settle for his excuses and unwillingness to make things right for the customer.

I wish I could upload pictures, but since I can't I invite anyone to come view the work at my home in Alpine by calling me at 619-886-4502 and I will be happy to show you or I can send you pictures of the poor work.

    D E Contreras Construction
Darren Contreras and his crew of employees were a pleasure to work with from day one.  Although our job was relatively small compared to what they probably normally do, Darren and his team treated our project like it was a top priority.  Prior to work commencing, Darren came to our home twice to iron out details and answer our questions.  He presented us with a detailed contract with the work to be performed, schedule of payments and also a copy of his insurance.  The work began on the day Darren promised and it also concluded the day he said it would.  He stopped by the job several times and also maintained telephone contact with us.  His employees arrived each day when scheduled, were professional, courteous, kept the job site clean, and their work was excellent.  Initially Darren gave us a bid for some gravel work to surround the concrete pad but due to our limited budget we opted to do that work ourselves.  Darren was very gracious about our decision and even helped us locate the materials that we would need.
We had one small problem arise during grading of the pad.  The bobcat broke one of the underground pipes to our irrigation system.  We were new homeowners and unfortunately did not know the location of underground pipes.  Darren and his employees did not hesitate to take responsibility for the problem.  The pipe was repaired almost immediately.  A couple of days later when the irrigation system was scheduled to water, a leak erupted due to the surge of water on the line after having been empty.  Darren again promised to have it repaired and summoned his expert from another job to come back to our house. We have no doubt that this situation will be resolved to our satisfaction.
In summary, we would not hesitate to recommend D,E. Contreras Construction for any concrete job big or small.

    WOOLSEY CONSTRUCTION
Luke Woolsey is a gem.  Great to work with.  He is quick to assess the customers' needs and wishes, honest and straightforward in his bidding, courteous almost to a fault and -- unlike most contractors -- punctual.  He does what he says he is going to do and, when finished, cleans up so well that it's like he was never there.  We've dealt with many contractors over the past 30 years and Woolsey Construction ranks at the top of the list.  We'd would recommend him in a heartbeat for anyone seeking a pleasant  experience with their project.  In fact, we already have!

He did a really good job for me.  He is very conscientious and does really clean work.  He shows up when he says he is going to.  He charges what he is going to.  I like his workmanship, which is very good.
