    David's Landscaping
This review is long overdue. David was courteous and responsive in the beginning, however, after the job was awarded, he became surely and irritable. His crew was nice and professional. The yard looks nice and most people wouldn't notice the problems, yet, after living with it for a few months, we quickly became aware of the mistakes he'd made. The issues we have are: -Young plants were planted under mature trees on sprinklers vs drip - now I know that's bad as mature trees should be watered infrequently or can cause mold and young plants need frequent watering or can die. We've had both happen. -He planted too close together, so everything is crowded and grown into each other. I wanted some succulents - he planted those beside high water need plants. He also didn't advice on a plant that was 1.5 feet tall when put into the grown and now has grown to 15 feet - blocking our neighbors lemon tree, which we enjoyed looking at from our side. -There are a couple of dead zones in the lawn sprinklers. -I'm almost certain but can't verify that when he built our new cement steps they didn't secure them with rebar to the existing landing, which means that over time, the steps could separate from the house. -He threatened, after demoing our old steps, to not build the new ones because of a scheduling problem with HIS contractor. -He didn't locate our gas lines on the property. One of his crew broke one and the city had to be called out to repair it. Instead of owning it, he berated his crew member. Luckily, the city didn't fine us but they could have. We are dealing with all of these problems and will need to move plants and sprinklers to make it right. We had a layout design that he worked with, however someone with his experience level should have advised on how the different plants would grow together and with the existing landscape.

    Creative Home Remodeling Group Inc.
Creative Home Remodeling provided a cost-effective bid. Their work was quality. They met their projected timelines and, in fact, finished the job before the agreed upon completion date: this was a first for me in terms of home improvements! Company representative Max Klimos was readily available, checked in regularly by phone and in person, and was very responsive.

    Dino Herrera Masonry
Dino's team was professional, courteous, diligent and artistically inclined for the duration of the entire job.  They were not the least expensive, nor the most.  The reason I hired Dino was because he was the ONLY mason who came by who spoke about maintaining the style and artistry of the shape of the house and finding ways to carry that through the walls of the new porch extension.  I'd hire Dino and his team again in a heartbeat.  Great work, guys!

    Robert Palacios Masonry Inc
I left a message for Bob in the morning and he called me back the same afternoon.  He came out the next day to view the site and i had an estimate from him by the following day.  He was my fourth estimate and Bob in came slightly under the other bids.  I chose Bob for two reasons.  First because of the " A" reviews on Angie's and second because of his open and approachable personality.  Throughout the entire job, Bob was very easy to deal with.  He would come to site every morning and always checked in with me to see if I was satisfied with the work that had been completed at that point.  Bob would, also, always check in with me in afternoon.  if i need to call him and did not connect, he would call me back in five minutes.  I'm in the San Gabriel Valley, and Bob is in Simi Valley,  but he and his crew were on time,  every single morning.   Bob's foreman Necio was equally as responsive and responsible when Bob was not present.
Work was very professionally done in an efficient and timely manner  It looks beautiful.  Bob and his crew have great attention to detail.  if something needs to be moved in of course of the work, it was put back exactly as it was or in a number of case it was put back in a neater and more organized fashion then it had been in originally.  Also because the wall is near a property line with my neighbors, Bob's crew took on themselves to work with the neighbors to limit disruptions to their schedule.  But what really sums up my experience with Bob, is when I was having trouble  with the lock on my  brand new gate. The guy that installed it was out of town, so Bob came out and fixed gate for no charge.  He is definitely willing to go above and beyond what is expected so that is why he get's an A+ from me.

    FALKON CONCRETE-MASONRY-PAVERS
Excellent service. Saw the many good reviews on Angie's List and decided to call for an estimate.  Val was immediately responsive and was very prompt in stopping by to provide an estimate on the walkway. After receiving his estimate by email and after getting two other estimates (one of which was nearly twice the estimate Val gave) I settled on hiring Falkon to do the job. Prior to doing the work Val contacted me about an increase in price from one of their suppliers that raised the price of the job by $300.00. I explained to him that that was ok and to go ahead and proceed. (Even at that price, it was still under the next highest bid received from a contractor).
Val and his crew (Charlie, Neri, and Bairon) started promptly at 8:30 AM on the morning of February 28th. They completed the masonry portion of the job by noon of that day. Charlie, Neri, and Bairon completed the job the next day, starting the job at 7:30 AM, doing a great job laying down the concrete pads and once again finishing by noon. They also did all their own clean-up. Val returned to review the work, pay his crew, and receive final payment on a job very well done. They were all very courteous and personable guys and will recommend their work to others.

    BRIK-ART
I found Brik-Art on Angie's List and contacted them for a estimate. I had estimates from other Angie's List providers, and Brik-Art was in the middle in regards to price. Craig was very personable and talked in detail about what could be done. I wanted brick and I wanted a herringbone pattern. Craig was very helpful in bringing my vision to paper so I felt assured he new what I wanted. His crew arrived on time and they were very knowledgable in their craft, they were polite, and cleaned up throughly every day. The project was completed on time and the finished product is absolutely beautiful and I am very happy. It is not easy to take someone's vision and turn it into a reality, but Craig managed to do this. I will recommend them in the future and use them again.

    National Deck & Stair
I used National Deck and Stair last month and I'm using them again next week. They seem to be pretty organised. You get your appointment and then they come the next (following) week. They sent me out references so I could go look at other jobs. The price was reasonable for what they did and how fast it was done. They were clean and professional. I thought they did a great job.

    PVM Concrete Contractor
They were just perfect in every way.  They gave me plenty of options and I really appreciated that.  They did exactly everything they said they were going to do and were extremely efficient.  They weren’t cheap but they did the job as good as it could have possibly been done.  I ended up choosing them over the other providers that I inquired with because of the insight they gave me a key insight into my home and driveway.  They suggested the installation of a root barrier to prevent future damage to my property.  Their presentation was great and was followed up by very good work.

    Jensen Construction
50+ year old cement back porch had become unsightly with extensive cracking and chipping that could no longer be easily repaired by ad-hoc patching. So it was decided that a new and safer porch be constructed to replace it that would approximate in look the relatively newer and sturdier front porch that was a masonry job of used brick with a black wrought-iron railing. Three estimates were gotten on the job. Of the three, Jensen Construction gave by far the most reasonable estimate (more than $1,000 less than its nearest competitor and included the wrought-iron work, which the others did not) and was flexible in setting up a time to begin work. Jonathan Wilson first came out to look at the porch, take measurements, pictures, etc. and said that he was sure that Jensen Construction could reproduce and closely as possible the style of the front porch and railing. Jonathan supervised the tear-down. Two other guys came to build the new porch. Jonathan also sent over someone who worked with wrought-iron to take measurements on construction of a new railing. The job was completed in the 5 days they had estimated it would take and in fact did resemble the front porch and railing even better than expected. There was only a slight delay in getting someone to seal the brickwork from moisture, which was very necessary as rain was expected that weekend. Overall, they did a great job and Jonathan, Erik and their crews were very personable and easy to talk to and answer questions about the job. I would definitely recommend their services to others.
