  • The service technician was very helpful in his explanation of the problem of my washing machine. Unfortunately the cost of the part was priced high enough that the technician recommended that I should consider purchasing a new washer, which I agreed with. I will definitely call them again and also recommend them to my friends.

  • Mr. Crowder responded right away and set up an appointment to check out the situation. I called on a Tuesday and he came right out the next day. He was really nice, straightforward, and told me the appliance couldn't be fixed- basically he found all the coils on the back were rusted from all the leaking and the plastic cup back there that catches any leaks had a hole in it and that cup part can't be removed. He even showed, explained all the parts on the back of the fridge, and had me touch the parts to check. The rust indicated that this has been going on for a while and the heat evaporation coils in the back weren't doing their job if the water was overflowing the little catch cup. He was honest and said I needed a new refrigerator. I trusted him and he's been in the business for a long time. I paid the normal diagnosis fee for him coming out. Affordable, fast, reliable. Would use again for other appliance needs. Thanks! Now I feel like I won't be scammed by other companies that insist on repairs. I also wanted to advise other Angie's List users to STAY AWAY from Universal Appliance Repair in Panorama City, CA. I couldn't find them listed on Angie's List, so I couldn't review them officially through the site. Their customer service was horrible on the phone and setting up the appt online was an unresponsive nightmare. When I called them directly to confirm the appt time, they said oh we don't get the messages from our website. I said, you need to fix this because people think they can set up repair appointments online and they take time off from work to be at home so a repairman can come to the house. The lady said, sorry, there's nothing I can do. Real smug, and very, "not her problem" type of attitude. Horrible. So...Go with CROWDER and you will not regret it!

  • We called Lerman Appliances for a broken dishwasher that wasn't drying and was leaking and for our clothes dryer that kept saying it was clogged. The tech, Mike, fixed the clothes dryer easily and did not charge us the service fee for this, which was nice. For the dishwasher, our first visit from Mike was on 2/25/17. He assessed the issue and said he needs to order parts that would be in the following week. Our second visit was on 3/4/17. Mike put in new parts but did not stick around to see if dryer actually worked and assured us it would and that the leak would be gone. We paid $275 and it turned out that the issue still wasn't fixed so we had to reschedule a third visit. Mike cancelled that visit because he said he he knows what the issue is and that the part would arrive in less than a week. After a week when we didn't hear back, we called and they said they would follow up with us and that the part was on it's way. After almost 4 weeks of us calling in weekly to see if our part came in with no response, I was finally able to speak with someone in the office yesterday (3/30/17) who said our part would be arriving 3/31/17. When I asked why it had taken so long after the tech said the part would be in less than a week and why no one called us back, he explained that there was nothing to report since he didn't have the part. I understand this but as a courtesy to the customer, I should still get a quick call back letting me know especially considering that almost a month had gone by. He then said he could schedule an appointment for the tech to come out on Monday. I explained that my husband and I both work during the day and asked if the tech could come early in the morning (before 10 am) or later on in the day. He said they don't do that because there is too much traffic. After dealing with this company for over a month, the problem is still not resolved. After sinking $275 into dishwasher and issue not being resolved we are deeply unsatisfied with the service and company. They did not follow through on their guarantee and also offered no apology for how long it took and for not returning our previous calls. I would not recommend.

  • I had a dryer that wouldn't start. The dryer is about a dozen years old, so I was assuming that repair could be a bit of a pricey proposition. I had some problems booking an appointment online so I did it the old fashioned way and called in. I was able to get an afternoon appointment a couple of days later. The diagnosis didn't take long; within about a half hour, the repairman had completely taken the dryer apart, tested every item and diagnosed the problem which turned out to be a blown motor and bearing; not a cheap repair. He clearly explained the problem, told me what it would cost to repair and gave me a chance to think about what I wanted to do. I decided to make the repair. He ordered the parts and said that the dispatcher would make a new appointment once the parts came in. A few days later, I got a call and a new appointment date. The repair was done relatively quickly and professionally. The repairman was knowledgable, friendly, and professional. No upsells; just an honest diagnosis and assessment of the problem. I would absolutely hire this company again to repair an appliance.

  • Surprisingly honest ... They could have easily taken me for hundreds like the first place I called tried to. Instead, changed a part that cost a few dollars plus the service call charge. Definate recommend!

  • Late to give a shout out to this family owned and run business- prompt , clean , accurate and nice !  You'll be in good hands with these repair pros who will be honest about whether it's worth it to fix or not - I've used them a number of times and never felt ripped off.

  • tMy first contact with Universal Appliance Service was by telephone.  At that point I told them I had a Bosch stackable washer and dryer set.  After that conversation, our communication switched to email.  In a email I gave them the model number and serial number of the washing machine .  I took time off work to be home for their visit.  Unfortunately they only sent one guy when they need two to deal with the stackable set.  So I wasted my time off work and we had to reschedule  for another day.  That why they are getting a B rating.
When they returned the work was completed in a timely manner,  they cleaned by after themselves and everything was fine.  Price for the parts and labour was on the high end of normal but competitive . In other words, he price was acceptable.
if you have stackables, you must make sure they are bringing a two man crew or you waste will time off work like i did.

  • Communication was good and the technician was prompt and professional.

The repair was done in 20-30 minutes.

The price for the igniter part was marked up 300% compared to Amazon, but that is probably to be expected.

  • They were very good. They helped me by telling me about reversing the location of the washer and dryer. They fixed what needed to be fixed. One person came out and was here about 40 minutes. He has fast service and very knowledgeable. I would tell a friend or family member you won't be sorry if you hire them.

  • I called Pasadena Appliance Service this morning to schedule an appointment. (I found them on Angie's list) I was happily surprised that they said they could send someone out today to fix my Dryer that had stopped heating up. They gave me a window of 12:00 PM-3:00 PM. The office called us to tell us the Repair tech was on his way and asked us to turn the dryer on so that it would be on when he arrived. The repair tech, Freddy arrived at about 1:25 PM. He was very kind and knowledgeable. He explained what he was going to do and went through his tests. Figured out what the problem was very quickly went out to his truck to get the new coil that had burned out and replaced it. He was finished by 1:50 PM. Perfect experience from start to finish. I would recommend this company and certainly Freddy to anyone that needed large appliance services.
