  • This was the worst, worst, worst experience ever. The short version is that I had a check up on my fridge by this company. The original repair person told me that I had a minor refrigerant leak but if I replaced the compressor it would run like new for another 10 years. I took him at his word, ordered the $2k part, and then they wouldn't call me back. Finally I got a live person (because now I had this part that I had paid for, I persisted). A different tech came out to "repair" and from that moment on the freezer has varied between +20 and -20 degrees. AGAIN they would not call me back. I called and went nuts on the operator who said he couldn't schedule me because he wasn't a scheduler, just a dispatch person. Then I FINALLY talked to a manager (supposedly) who was sending someone at the next possible date...several days later. That guy shows up and kind of scratches his head and says nothing seems to be wrong, he's going to consult with others and call me tomorrow...and of course NEVER called. I've had another service out and every replaceable part has now been replaced. This "appliance repair doctor" won't return calls, and now I'm buying a new fridge. THIS PLACE BROKE MY FRIDGE AND REFUSES TO COMMUNICATE. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

  • After dealing with another service company who couldn't/wouldn't fix my appliance, I called Steve.  He came out within days to look at it and decided it could be a number of problems.  We made another appointment where he brought all possible parts needed and a person to help remove the microwave/oven combination without damaging my walls or counters.  He then quickly fixed it requiring only one part.

  • My Whirlpool convection oven/microwave stopped heating, so i made an appointment with A&E.  Closest appointment was two weeks away.  The technician who came out charged me $249, which I understood was not refundable.  Without removing my appliance to check anything, he ordered a $400+ part, and we made another appointment in two more weeks time.  When the same service technician came back to install the part, he discovered it was damaged and ordered another part and scheduled another appointment two weeks out.  A new service technician came out for that appointment (the 3rd one!) and said that he couldn't fix my appliance as it was too close to a wall, and he didn't want to be responsible for damage.  He said that if i could have somebody else remove the appliance, the could come back and fix it.  I'm not sure why the first technician didn't tell me this.  All said and done, I ended up calling Steve's Appliance Repair (on Angie's List), and he came out within the week and fixed it.

  • I had been having problems trying to get a combination of freezer and refrigerator settings that were satisfactory for several months.  This had never been an issue in the past.  Then the leaking started, regardless of whatever settings I tried,so I had to put a little bowl underneath the leaking spot.
After he fixed the leak, he put new settings on the both the refrigerator and the freezer.  It seems to be working very well. His basic charge for coming to your house is $55, so the repair only cost an additional $30.
We first had Gary here about 2 1/2 years ago when the motor in that same refrigerator died, and I discovered one morning that the ice cream had melted.  He put in a new motor.  The total cost was $225, including service.  He always tells you  before starting the repair what the bill will be.  On that occasion he even threw in fixing the lower metal panel on our dishwasher that had become loose.  I hadn't been able to get at it with a suitable little screwdriver.  And of course, that really didn't fall into the category of "refrigerator repair"! He's just an exceptionally pleasant and generous guy!

  • My seven year old Whirlpool Duet started making a very loud, screeching noise.  I called Steve's Appliance Service after another company I found on Angie's List did a no-show.  He came out, on time, the very next day.  He ran the dryer, told me what he thought the problem was, and estimated the price to fix it.  When he took the dryer apart, he had guessed correctly at the problem, and he repaired it with parts he had in stock.   I paid him what he told me at the start what the bill would probably be.
Steve is very courteous and knowledgeable.  I will use him again for any other appliance repair issues I may have in the future.

  • I called because my dryer was making a funny noise. I was told I had to wait a week for an service call, but didn't mind as my dryer was still working. The day of the appointment, they were a no-show. When I called, all I got was the answering machine and still have never received a call back.

  • Steve's always great - responsive, quick service, quick turnaround on parts when ordering is necessary, working me into his schedule right away, so I never wait days.  He always exhibits professionalism and pride in his work.

  • The initial appointment call was efficient and appointment was scheduled within a week of call. Our service technician showed up promptly. He was friendly and explained what he was doing. He laid out a tarp and tried to keep it as clean as possible. It took a good hour of diagnosis and service to figure out the problem. Then, he took another 2 hrs or so to try to repair the refrigerator the same day. Unfortunately, he was missing a part, so he had to return the next day to finish. When he returned the next day, the repair only took about 30 minutes and it was completed.

  • Very efficient service and repair. He was prompt, diagnosed the problem, called to check on parts, drove to pick up the part, and replaced the part all in one day. The convenience of having this problem fixed in one day was great!

  • The price may seem expensive, but most of the cost was related to the parts and not the actual labor. Our washer and dryer are both working properly now and we have not had anymore problems since the work was done. I would use them again if I needed another appliance repaired.
