Air Duct Cleaning reviews in Alameda

  • Fantastic service - Oren came with one guy, they were on time with excellent communication via text app, and they did work that a previous provider had refused to do. I will definitely hire Oren again, and would recommend him to anyone. A+++!

  • The service called the day prior to confirm the appointment. On the day of the appointment, they called to cancel because the only person they have to service the east bay was sick and no one else was available. We rescheduled for the next week. On the appointed day, the service man called 2.5 hours before the appointment to ask if i was at home and could he come now. I was at work and unable to leave early. We agreed to the original time of 4:00 PM. He did not arrive until 4:25. When he came into the house and began to clean the airducts, he said the house was too old and his equipment could not clean the type of floor vents in this house. This house is in Alameda and typical of many 19 20's style homes in the bay area. He referred me to Coit! He vacuumed the vents as best he could and didn't charge me. Incompetent, unprofessional, untimely.

  • I had BGreen Service come to clean our Duct. They were on time and courteous. They took off their shoes before they entered and kept everything very quiet and clean. They also gave me a fair price. I would use them again.

  • This was a complete con-job. Do not purchase.
I work from home, and was able to supervise the job that was being done. I think that took the provider a bit by surprise. When the guys got here, they told me they were going to hook up a machine to my HVAC system, and close the vents and it would vacuum out everything. They proceeded to hook up a giant blue tube that was connected to a huge rolling vacuum. Next a guy came around to my different vents and used a shop vac to vacuum them out.
Within 5 minutes of them being there, they opened up my furnace and told me they needed to clean it and it was filthy. They told me that they had to remove it from the wall, and that would cost $250. They also told me the cost of a new air filter was $125 and I needed 2.
I was a little shocked by this as I felt like I was getting the "treatment" so I decided to look at what they were doing a bit closer. The "machine" they hooked up to the vent system was quite obviously broken. The blue pipe/tube thing was duck taped on to it and half hanging on so there could be no vacuum seal. The machine wasn't even on. They connected a shop vac to it and turned it on to create the appearance of noise and that it was doing something.
At this point, my common sense started tingling so I took pictures of the machine, and their van.
    Here are the pictures:

The first picture is the smoking gun. The shop-vac is tapped to the connection of the actual broken vac. I guess they were hoping no one would notice the actual machine was broken, and hoped the shop-vac would cover it up by making noise.
I went to the guys and told them in Spanish, hey that machine doesn't do anything its broken. He replied something quickly to me I didn't quite understand, then called his boss. The last and only other thing he said to me was we're leaving and you're getting a refund.
At this point I was completely shocked. I decided to call up Angie's and they told me the provider could probably not issue the refund and Angie's list would start it for me.
    Don't get scammed.

  • It was not that good. Actually, their machine didn't work and they ended up not charging me. It was kind of a waste of time since they didn't have the right attachment to clean the duct. But they seem professional.

  • During the process of cleaning the ducts there equipment became snagged. While trying to free the device they found that there was a separation of the ductwork under the house. While they continued  their work. I went to the hardware store and bought some aluminum duct tape so that I could address the issue. They told me that since they had to go under the house to address their snagged equipment. That they would  wrap the separation for me. That was actions far above what they were contracted to do. This is emblematic of a Company that believes in SERVICE to the customer. I would recommend them to anyone at anytime.

  • They work really hard to make themselves available. Took the time to explain everything to us. Very accomodating. We were so happy with them we are going to have them come back for some other projects we need to take care of.

  • I just had this company come out in response to an Amazon $49 (normally $349). This is BS!!! While the Dean and his team was very nice, they arrived in a beat up van that did not show the name of the company They use big vacuum they hook up to one of the vents. Here's the kicker. The "furnace inspection" reveals a filthy furnace, which was not a surprise. However, they want to charge me $399 to clean the furnace. This company is an upselling rip-off. I told him no thanks and he responds you can't get the service for the same price. I thought "I'll take that bet." and found another company for $89. He lowered the price twice eventually matching the price I found, but there was no way I would reward such unethical practice. Very disappointing experience. Lesson learned is you get what you pay for and caveat emptor.

UPDATE: I received a telephone call from this company in response to this review and they offered and provided a full refund of my $49. This is why I'm raising their grade to a D. With regard to Price, I still give them an F for the whole upselling scheme. I got the $49 price through an Amazon deal. On quality, I give them an F as they were careless and did scratch and gouge one of my interior door frame, but I didn't bring this up since I was having the interior repainted within the next four months. I changed the Responsiveness grade to a C since they did respond to my review and complaints. I also upgraded their Punctuality grade to a B since they were on-time for the appointment. I kept the Professionalism grade at an F due to the whole upselling scheme. Although I might up that to a D- for their response to this review.

  • The technician wore booties on his shoes to avoid tracking mud through the house, which I appreciated. The technician was punctual, courteous, friendly and answered my questions. The work took about 90 minutes and the cost was reasonable. The experience was very good and I would use Atlas again. The technician also stopped to give a battery-jump to a neighbor's car.

  • Very well. The service technician, Sal, inspired confidence with his knowledge. He showed me the specific problem and explained that we could be breathing carbon monoxide. I used Angie's List to find several excellent companies to bid the new furnace. ABC's bid was very competitive. Bill, the salesman, spent time really understanding our needs and current issues. He offered ideas on how to better heat the living room which has always seemed cold in winter. Once we decided to go with ABC, they installed the new furnace within a few days. The installers, Robert and Ryan, arrived on time, were very professional and completed the work quickly. They left the house clean and neat. Although we haven't had really cold weather yet, the living room is much warmer.
