    UNITED PET CARE LLC
I've had them for about 17 years. I had two dogs at one time, I've got one now, one passed on. It was costing me like $20 a month. The office visit, if you just come in off the street would be like $50 and with the insurance, it's like $35 and you get 10% off for the drugs. There is little percentages off. My dog also had a bladder problem, where it would get bladder stones. The first time I had the surgery for the dog, it was like $1800 and then I got the pet insurance and then it went down to $ 900. If the dog needed surgery or something you make up your difference and then all your shots are free.

And then I got the pet insurance and it went down to $900, almost in half. If the dog needed surgery or something, you make up the difference in one point in time. The rabies shots are free, distemper, all shots are free. I work for one of the hospitals and they had a thing going, just sign up for it and it just comes out of your pay check. They are great to deal with too.

    VPI Pet Insurance
When I got my dog I started researching and my veterinarian works with about seven companies.  I asked my vet said that VPI was the most popular and were usually more responsive when you submit a claim.  They seem to offer competitive prices with the other companies.

I actually knew them.  They sent me back a good amount from the bill and we are happy with that.  They were punctual and friendly.  They were very open to the cats.  They were caring.  I thought they covered more areas pretty well.  I was surprised their response was not immediate but it was pretty quick.  I would renew the insurance with them.

    Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
I purchased pet insurance for my GSD in April, 2014, when my pup was 3 months old.  I researched online and found Healthy Paws as the most highly rated.  Currently I pay $38 for a $250 deductible with 80% coverage.  The monthly premium does go up every year.  I adopted an 8yr old GSD and got an estimate of around $58 a month.  I decided not to purchase for this dog.....  A relative left out girl scout cookies and extra strength Advil in a spare bedroom and our GSDs got into them.  We took them to the Vet ER in our area and they kept our 1 yr old for 2 days to flush his kidneys, give charcoal, etc.  I submitted a claim to Healthy Paws when he was released and it was painless.  The only hoop I had to jump through was furnish ALL my pups records from when we brought him home.  After that was uploaded the claim was approved in one day and we received a check within 3 days.  His follow up blood test submission went very smooth since all the records were now on file with Healthy Paws.  That claim was approved in a day and we received a check within 3 days.  Highly recommended, but make sure you have all your vet records to submit on first claim.

They are very good. They come and take them for check up and do X-Rays and teeth cleaning once a year. When they put them down for teeth cleaning they do a lot of other tests which is all inclusive and it is very beneficial. It is a monthly charge. I don't pay anything additional for the above charges. The veterinarians are excellent. They are very upfront. They tell what is going on. They tell what the situation is and if it is critical and they have a lot of knowledge that they bring forth.

    VPI Pet Insurance
You have to be diligent with reading the fine print. But like with any insurance they will try to deny things if you are not reading it currently.  The price may seem high but for us we have used it so its been worth it for us.  I have some issues and been able to call them and they have been helpful.

    Trupanion
Trupanion claims and quot;your premiums won't increase nor will your coverage be restricted due to your pet aging. Your rates will change periodically only as inflation affects the cost of veterinary care.and quot; I bought the insurance when my wheaten terrier was a few months old. The cost was $17.84 a month. Approximately 3 years later, the monthly rate has risen to $24.46, a 37% increase. This is an increase that I believe cannot be attributed to inflation.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Corporate Headquarters
I trid to cancel this pet insurance plan, Banfield Optimum Wellnes Plan. When I called, I was informed I could not because my dog had received services under the plan and the amount of the "discount" applied to the services my dog received under the plan would need to be paid ($171.00) prior to being able to cancel the insurance. What kind of a rip off is this? Is this even legal? Because my pet had received discounted services under the plan, I would have to pay the difference in price betwen the costs with the plan and the what the cost would have been had we not been carrying the insurance. This difference of $171.00 would need to be paid in order for the insurance to be canceled or I would need to pay the regular monthly payment of the insurance until the $171.00 was paid in full. I was asked which option was the "most convenient," pay then or let the inurance continue until Septermber (the monthly charges divided into the cost of discounted service received.) So in effect, I am forced to continue to carry and pay for the insurance and never use it because doing so will of course incur further discounts which would then of course also need to be repaid in order to cancel in the future. This is entrapment, a blatant rip off. This is then in effect not health insurance for your pet at all, but a prepayment plan. No such conditions were specified when the insurance was taken out. This is blackmail. Beware of signing up with any "wellness" plan with Banfield, it does not save you anything.
