  • The tech did exactly that, looked at it and immediately realized that it was very new and was still under warranty through the company who installed it. He advised us not to use his services, and left. We still received a bill. Two phone calls to Customer Service went nowhere - one person said she would transfer me to a department who could approve a waiver of the fee. The person in that department was unwilling to work with me at all and wouldn't even consider reducing the fee, which I would have been open to. While I understand the intent of a trade call fee, I also do not feel it is right to charge a homeowner for services that were not provided. It seems like a racket to me, and we will never use Old Republic for anything again.

  • I have had them since I purchased the house in 2012. In 2015 my hot water heater burst, they sent people out it took them three weeks, I fixed it myself and sued them for the hot water heater. In August of 2016 my air conditioner failed. They sent out three people.All said I needed a new air conditioner. They never got back to me about fixing it. I'm seventy years old in the middle of August I got a new air conditioner. I pay $450 a year and $60 for any service call. The help desk barely speak English. Since I had payed for a whole year, I have their workings in affect. Even though I was going to stop using them after the hot water heater incident. I still had a year left, then the air conditioner went dead. before the contract expired. They absolutely,totally ineffective tried to screw me over at every turn. They sent contractors out that was helpful in that sort of stuff. They said on their website that they sent a contractor out that they repaired it. But they never told me that it was repaired. I don't know if they are crooks or because their people don't speak English and they didn't understand. They replaced one part it didn't work, but they were saying they did work. It is the worse money I have ever spent. Worse thing I have ever dealt with and their crooks. In no way shape or form I would never use them again.

  • Horrible company and a SCAM. After receiving a call and being offered a "deal" I was told there was a 30 day trial and I cancel if I so choose. I was never offered an agreement before signing up but only after did I sign up I was referred to a link for the agreement. After looking through the agreement, I decided it wasn't a good deal. A lot of their exclusions are for items that have a higher risk factor for breaking. Also, after doing more research on the company, I didn't feel this was a trust worthy company. They recently settled a class action lawsuit for shady business practices. I sent an email to cancel and the reply was that someone was they were going to call to confirm. I never heard anything. So I send another email and same response. I ended up calling and was transferred but later told someone would call me. I never heard anything. After sending more emails without a response I called again and was "disconnected" the first two times I called. I called and finally got cancelled only to find out there's a $50 "admin" fee for cancelling. Some trial right? This is a SCAM. Do not buy anything from this company. If you do feel that you were wronged, send a complaint to the BBB and FTC. They need to be put on notice.

  • I have been with them for quite a while of which they started good. I found out that there's much better companies out there than them. Besides being unable to reach a live person they have lousy fly by night contractors and very poor customer's service. I dumped them

  • As part of my new home purchase, a OneGuard warranty was purchased. I found an issue with the dishwasher in the first week. I tried calling twice before 5pm and entering an online service request, but was never contacted. Since they seemed difficult to get in touch with, I decided to cancel my service. Per the contract terms on their website, I had 30 days to cancel with a full refund. I initiated a cancellation request, but was told my contract terms were different than what was on the website, and would not received a refund for the full value of the contract. If I am truly subject to different terms, the liability should be on OneGuard to provide those terms and make them readily accessible. They said it was up to my realtor to give me a brochure of their plan types and terms. This seems like very deceptive practice to advertise one set of terms and bury a second set of terms.

  • I had to engage my own A/C repair guys spending $1250 plus and sweltering out for 8 days in the interim. They are located in New Jersey and I live in Arizona.  In the event of any disputes the jurisdiction is NJ courts!  Company was not responsive and I wrote to New Jersey Attorney General's office who investigated the matter and got me some refund . Always use a local company for Home warranty...

  • This Home Warranty Company is terrible.  I have had their service for 2 years now and have had 2 claims.  This first was a simple air conditioning repair.  While that went relatively smoothly, the second claim is when everything went down hill.
    Our over the counter microwave stopped heating. I called to make a claim.  I gave the agent all the information and expected a response within 24 hours.  I received an email the next day requesting all the information that I gave the phone agent the previous day AGAIN. I followed their instructions. I was then asked to submit pictures of the microwave.  By this time I was at work and not able to do them until I returned home, prolonging the process.  I requested  a prompt response, it is inconvenient to not have a microwave.  After the weekend I received a response that they had determined it was not worth it to repair my microwave.  Fine, it is from 1999, I believe it was original to the home.  Then they tell me they would only offer me $95 to replace it. They calculated my $40(deductible) + $95 would replace my microwave.  It is an over the range, venting microwave.  I could not find a suitable replacement for that cost anywhere.  I called the case manager THREE times with no return call (I also emailed twice), I just wanted clarification to where they got that number. I finally decided to call the company and push the button for the new policies to try to get someone on the phone.  I was finally successful and the person I spoke to was unbelievably rude.  I asked how they determined their replacement.  He stated we only have to replace with a microwave that is the same wattage. I then asked where they got their price from, because I could not find anything in that price range.  He told me to Google it! I had previously told him I had done a lot of research online.  He then said look on Lowe's or a few other places.  I asked him to stay on the line while I looked on these sites as I had not found them in my research.  He told me he would not, he had other customers waiting on hold.  I told him I had been waiting a week for a response they could hold on foe a few minutes.  He said he was going to hang up, so I asked for a manager and of course he said he was the manager and there was no one above him.  I replied that that must mean he owns the company and he replied no, so I asked who his boss was.  He gave me a name but refused to give me his extension because he only deals with customers via email and he is walking around the building all day and doesn't answer his phone. He gave me the generic email for the claims department and said that would go directly to him.  Surprise, I never heard from him.  The email I sent was just replied to with you need to fill out this form and the phone number I had originally called for customer relations!  
    My main frustration was how this was handled.  I would never recommend this company to anyone.

  • Terrible.   this firm clearly states that they will either fix or replace said item.   I have a Bosch refrigerator that is 5 years old.   After 9 days they informed me that it was too "costly" to repair the product so they were sending me a check for 600.00.   The refrigerator was over 3000.00 new.   I would have been fine with cash if the sum was even half of what i paid for the refrigerator.  But 600.00 won't even replace the door.
    The individual "supervisor" that i spoke with was rude and told me it was either 600.00 or nothing.  They told me to read the "fine print" on my contract and they don't guarantee to repair or replace.   IT OF COURSE SAYS THAT ON THE FRONT OF THEIR CONTRACT.  But the fine print states they may elect to send cash for what they deem is the value.   This is nothing more than deception on their part.

  • It is harder to get through now- that is the problem. They get everything done on a timely manner and if it is something that needs to be replaced and you want to upgrade it, they will give you a cash out. Other companies don't do that- that's how I got my new air conditioner, they cashed it out. It was really wonderful -they have saved me about 15.000$. I have recommended them to other people before.

  • Like another review we have been cancelled by American home Shield. They have never been real easy to work with but in fairness I have to also say they have paid us much more than we have paid them.

    We have had American Home Shield for about 15 years. Over that period they have sent people to repair almost every major appliance in the house. When we got the notice they were canceling us they gave us several months notice and we called on our Air conditioning unit, the toilets, and the water heater went out in that time. They sent repair people for each of those and we were happy with every repair.

    When you work with a home warrantee company you have to be assertive and you have to realize they may not be sending the most recognized repair people. They reimburse the repair people at a much lower rate than the going rate for those services. For the service company it provides work and name identity. In some cases we refused to let repair people do the work because they smelled so bad or we just did not trust them when they showed up. In each case American Home shield sent somebody else.

    This is not meant to be an advertisement for American Home shield because they can be really frustrating. Calling for a repair can be a time consuming affair. You need to be prepared to devote 30 minutes to the project. However, over 15 years they saved us thousands of dollars in repairs.

    Example - we have a very old refrigerator that my wife will not give up. When it just quit working she called American Home Shield and they offered to buy a new unit or give her $1,000. She took the money and got the old one repaired. That process took a month becasue she was negotiating with them, not because they delayed. AHS took that refrigerator off the policy for any future repairs. I am not bothered by that because they paid more than it was worth, and they offered to put in a new unit, I would say that was very fair.

    They have gotten much stricter over the years and if you are not doing normal upkeep they may not cover the repair. Example; if they send out an A/C guy and he finds you have not been changing the filters they may not authorize the repair.

    So overall, they are frustrating to deal with, they do not cover everything that might occur but in the end if you wanted really good service along with the repair you would pay somebody like Parker and Sons Air-conditioning or Renco Roofing.
