  • Bought at Costco, got a $200 card.  The Directv rep lies like a rug on cost.  They do not give you anything written.  Service is OK.  But the cost is much more than was quoted.

  • I finally cut the cable with Cox and went with Centurylink.  In an apples to apples comparison, Centurylink is about $80 less per month for a one year commitment.  I couldn't be happier with my new service!
The signup was smooth.  I had already investigated their internet speeds and Prism TV, so when their sales people were going door to door, I was ready to discuss it.  Unlike Cox, in which you share the cable connection with your neighbors, Centurylink goes directly to you from the central box.  In simple terms, your internet speed does not slow down because you neighbors are online at the same time as you.  Centurylink uses a dedicated CAT 5 cable, not a coaxial cable.  The sign up was flawless and my installation was scheduled for a week later.
On the day of the installation, I was told the tech would call about 30 minutes before arrival and to expect the call between 8 and 5 pm.  Walter did call and arrived in the early afternoon.  After inspecting my locations for TV's and my wireless router, he created a perfect install plan to run the CAT 5 cable into my house.  The install was done very well with minimal damage (i.e. holes) to my home's exterior.  The CAT 5 is wired to two locations - one TV and another location for my internet.  A second TV doesn't require any wires, just a small receiver (a LOT smaller than a cox receiver/dvr).  Both services have worked flawlessly since installation.  The speed is FANTASTIC and the cable is crystal clear with no outages or temporary disruptions.  Walter showed us how to use everything.  The stuff I have read about bad customer service is not what I experienced!
I am so glad I switched when Centurylink finally arrived in my neighborhood.  The Cox monopoly shot up in price over the last 7 years and the service got much worse.  I have no hesitation recommending Centurylink!

  • I called customer service to get the installer back out immediately since I had taken the day off work just for this. They were quite short with me, that it was my fault for not making my appointment. They would reschedule next week and didn't care that I didn't have good internet. THIS IS REALLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The agent was rude as well. When I gave them the ultimatum of tomorrow (Saturday) of I would change providers, I was told they didn't "have to put up with this" and disconnected the call. I will terminate my service at the end of my current billing period.
