  • We chose the vacation package, which worked out so well. Deana came every day for 2.5 weeks to check on our 2 cats. She ensured they had food, water, cleaned out the litter box, and played with them. What's great is the company uses a mobile app and/or email that informs you of their visits and times they were there. I also received daily pics of my fur bellies. Besides the typical pet-sitting duties, Deana also brought my mail in daily, brought the trash in, and watered a plant that was delivered. I highly recommend this company, and will use them again.

  • Vet office visited 3 times for 3 different pets, 2 dogs and a cat. Very nice, responsive, helpful andeducational, after work hours, and professional. Prices are typical vet prices. Fun groomer and services available as well.

  • I use Dr. Sophie and that’s Green Valley Veterinarian Services. They are great people. I’ve been using them since we moved here in 2007. The doctor could not be nicer and so is her staff. They’re not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for, so I’ve never not paid the bill. They’re really good and I’m very pleased with them. And I’ve boarded my dogs there and that’s important because of reassurance that everything’s going to go well when you’re not there. The place is clean. I’ve always gone in the back to see how things are doing. You can tell there’s dogs there but it’s not terribly offensive and it’s clean. The please people are just really nice. The doctor, couldn’t ask for a better doctor, Dr. Sophia. They always try to get you in right away if there’s an emergency. They don’t have that 24-hour thing but they have an emergency vet if you need them. I’ve never had to use them. If your late, it’s because of you. Wouldn’t use anybody else.

  • Thom is the most wonderful pet host that could ever be. The daily pictures reflect the terrific time all of the dogs are experiencing. There is so much for the guests to do every day. Our three year old had some socialization problems and Thom worked with her to integrate her with the other guests is a really short period of time. If you have any questions or concerns about the Ranch, take advantage of a Meet and Greet. All your worries will go away.

  • We've been going to the Rancho Sahuarita VCA Animal Hospital for some time because of the friendly staff, prompt service and excellent service provided. When we arrive they seem to always remember our dogs' names and check us in. I don't recall ever waiting for more than 20 minutes for any service, and that was with them having a few canine emergencies going on at the same time.
This visit was a wellness check up for our male dog, anal gland expression for our female and both of them having their kennel cough or Bordetello shots updated. The staff is always friendly and try to comfort the pets as well as the owners. The veterinarians are always pleasant and easy to talk to and explain things that may be going on with your pet in simple terms and an easy-going manner. The best part for me is that because of my work commute, they are open until 8pm during the weekdays, which is a tremendous help. I highly recommend this establishment for any and all pet-related services!

  • As stated above they are not prepared for a real emergency.  I did however use this vet because they were "right up the road" from us.
The vets are top notch as I had two of our  dogs taken there for ACL repairs.  They did a wonderful job of fixing their legs.  (One dog had 2 surgeries on each rear leg, the other just the one).  My one dog kept pulling his bandages off and we went there several times to get his leg rebanaged.  I was told that it would a separate charge for those three times.  It ticked me off that they would charge extra especially when the surgery was very expensive.  That is when I decided to find another vet.  I also used to take my dogs to the Animal Care Ctr., for shots, but have stopped because they would charge $45 for an office visit plus the shot or shots.  I take my ALL my animals (3 dogs, 4 cats) to a shot clinic where the charge is very reasonable and no office visit charge.
I also would like to add that there is one receptionist at the front desk who has an "attitude".  She acts as if she is doing YOU a favor.  The rest of the staff is very considerate and treat you with respect.

  • We've left our dog at Camp Jimmy Dog on three different occasions when we've gone on vacation. This last time was a very unpleasant experience. We initially said that we would drop off our dog at 8:00 (drop-off time is between 7:00-10:00) but, as happens when packing for most vacations, we were running late. Her policy states, and quot;We do require you to choose a specific time during these windows in which you will be arriving. We also ask that you be on time. If you will be more than 10min. early or 10min. late you will need to call us.and quot; I emailed Kristen to let her know we would not be there until 9:30 and she responded with this irate email blaming us for throwing her whole schedule off.
Upon returning to Tucson I had told her that we would be by to pick up our dog by 6:00 (pick up time is between 4:00-6:00). As it turns out the traffic wasn't as bad as we anticipated and we arrived back in Tucson around 4:15. Again, per her policy, I called, emailed, and texted Kristen to let her know that, since we live on the NE part of town, it would be more convenient to pick up our dog earlier. When we got there, although there were two cars in the driveway, nobody was home. I tried to reach Kristen and she never got back with me. We ended up having to go home and come back at 5:30. This experience left us with some concerns. First, why didn't she respond to my calls? Second, although we arrived earlier, we gave her notice and why no one was there watching our dog? We thought that's what were paying her for. Third, I measured out precise amounts of dog food for the duration of her stay, but at least half was still in her dog food carrier.
We feel that she handled the whole situation unprofessionally, first by berating me for being late, then by not responding to my calls, texts and emails when we returned. I'm assuming many of her clients leave there pets when they go on vacation. Consequently, flights may be early or late, traffic may be light or heavy. This is her business and she should be more accomodating to her customers. We will not be using her services again.

  • I was a little wary about driving our dogs down to Sahaurita for boarding at first, but Thom and his facility are worth the drive! Before boarding our dogs with Thom for four days, he suggested that we bring the dogs down for a visit. Our 6-year-old rott/lab mix, Willow, was excited and happy during the entire visit. Our 1-year-old hound mutt, Milo, took a while to warm up because of old anxiety issues (abuse before we found him), but he did great.
The day we visited, Thom had 9 other dogs in his care, including his own dog, Scout. All 11 dogs were happy and calm- no issues whatsoever! The dogs ranged in size from 10 lbs to well over 100 lbs. Thom invited us to take a hike with the dogs on their property, giving us short directions about how he wanted us to interact or not interact with the other dogs initially. Our dogs immediately joined the rest of the pack without any problems after a short introduction to the other dogs (sniff time). Thom very quickly took charge of Milo's anxiety issues and established himself as a safe authority for Milo. We normally have issues when strangers are handling Milo because of past abuse (Milo is a rescue), but we could tell immediately that Thom is really a pro. Thom was very patient with Milo. Thom showed us around their property (including in their home) to put us at ease, and I suspect, to observe our dogs for potential behavior problems as well. Thom also gave us some pointers on what we could do a little differently to help put Milo at ease in new situations. We were so impressed that we felt totally secure in leaving our dogs with Thom for our first dog-free vacation, ever. Willow was thrilled with the visit and whined in the car as we were driving away (Thom had allowed her a swim in their pool during our visit, which she LOVED). We were excited that we'd finally found a place for our dogs to go while we are on vacation, without any worry about desert-specific dangers (like rattlesnakes), or poor care from humans in a kennel-free environment. Both of our dogs slept very soundly during the hour-long car ride home.
During their stay with Thom, Willow, Milo, and the other dogs at the ranch went on two hikes day- one in the morning, and one in the afternoon - and two swims in the in-ground pool each day. Thom takes photos throughout the day and emails them to his clients at night so we could see the dogs' day, each day. After the first two days, my fiance and I really just scrolled through the photos, as we knew the dogs were being well cared for and were having a great time. To be honest, we were really enjoying our own vacation, especially with not worrying about our pets!
We had missed our flight home on Sunday, and Thom was very patient and accommodating in our late arrival. When we finally arrived to pick up the dogs, they were fed and ready to go, happy and calm! Thom was great in telling us about their stay and even said that Milo had gotten in bed with Thom Saturday night, and Thom woke up with Milo's head on his chest Sunday morning. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch is. It's awesome to have total peace of mind in knowing that our pets are well-cared for while we are gone. I think the biggest advantage is that Thom is allowing dogs to be dogs, with plenty of proactive steps to avoid fights or other issues between the dogs. It's clear that Thom is in this business for all the right reasons.
After returning home and making our first post-boarding trip to the dog park, Milo's social skills with other dogs had clearly improved dramatically. He had been very timid about initiating play and other social behaviors (like sniffing) with other dogs and was much slower to warm up to other dogs (we hadn't actually had any problems with aggressive behavior that would actually put another dog at risk, mostly avoidance behaviors), but that was dramatically reduced after his stay with Thom. Woohoo!
I am not sure if Thom's rates have changed since October; in October, we paid $50/day plus and additional $40/day for the second dog. We did receive a 10% military discount. There is also a 10% discount if your pet's stay is over 10 days. Thom does require all vaccinations to be current (including kennel cough), and I think the county dog license is required too. His intake form is very thorough, with space for your vet's information, and the type and $$ limit for any vet care that may be required. He does administer medication if necessary, for a charge (which we feel is absolutely fair!).
Thom only asked us to bring their food and any treats we wanted him to give them, as he has beds, bowls, leashes, etc. When I dropped off Willow and Milo, I pulled out the ziploc bag of treats, and Thom's first question was 'what brand are these,' and 'are they made in China?' It was great to know that Thom is up-to-date with food-contamination issues AND is proactive in trying to prevent food-related issues. I did send extra dry food, as I thought our dogs might need it with the higher level of activity than what they are normally used to. They did use almost every bit of dry food!

  • Overall and from what I could tell, my dog was treated like a king and was well taken care of.
The price point for boarding was a bit steep, but sometimes you have to look past those things for peace of mind and knowing that your dog aka family member is being treated right.

  • Brought our 100lb mix breed in for lab tests. We only had to wait 10 minutes. The front desk staff was very welcoming and pleasant. The staff was very quick and finished drawing labs within 15 minutes of taking our dog back. They were very helpful in selecting a quality glucosamine product for our middle-aged dog. He loves them and they have become a treat! Have been coming to Valley for approx 6 months. I really appreciate Valley Animal for health maintenance for my dog. Our previous vet never called with results and seldom informed us of our dog's health. I had to ask a lot of questions for little explanation. Drs. Morgan and Moreno and their staff at Valley are very good about following up with the lab or x-ray results. They explain the results, plus the next step (if indicated). The staff calls to follow-up after visits, to check up on our dog and to remind us if we forget to come back for follow-up. While the price may be higher than I think it should, I feel like they are providing excellent care for my dog and I know what to expect. Prices are what they quote (and sometimes less).
