    Harald Gutgsell MD
Dr. Gutgsell is very sympathetic to people with chronic pain. I find that he is very concerned with the patient's well being and progress. He also has no reservations about getting second opinions regarding treatment options.

    Glenn Lipton MD
He was very helpful and friendly; asking both my husband and I for details we might remember about what my activities were the day before and of the onset of my pain. His examination was thorough and he explained in detail, even using a poster of the spine to show where the problem area in the spine might be. I have seen him numerous times before, and in 2010 he performed a new procedure called M.I.L.D. (Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression)  to reduce or cure sciatica on the right side of my back and right leg. The procedure worked beautifully and my sciatica has not returned.

Acupuncture very helpful in relieving recurring back pain. Have been able to reduce number of visits as this procedure becomes more effective over time

    Harald Gutgsell MD
Everything was wonderful. He is not chatty, but he is methodical and focused, as well as being very gentle. He is a fantastic doctor, and his staff is very friendly. He is extremely professional and I understood exactly what he was doing because he communicated well. I was very happy with him.

Dr. Gutgsell is very knowledgeable in the are of epidural injections. As someone else pointed out he is not very chatty but I have had injections by other doctors that were not nearly as successful as his have been. He knows what he is doing which is why I am a return patient. I find he is willing to explain what to expect and is concerned with the results.

The examination took all of 5 minutes for which I will have to pay a co pay of 40 dollars. If you want to be treated rudely and with cursory attention then by all means go dehumanize yourself by seeing this creep. This comment is my opinion of this guy based on my experience with him.

Clearly, even though he is willing to take patients that continue to receive epidurals...he isnt willing to help those who just need medication..even though they have already done epidurals, surgeries, pt, etc. This is a money issue, since drs don't make much money when just doing meds... He knows my history, but as soon as I said no more epidurals, he didn't want to take me as a patient. Very disappointing that this is his approach to pain management!!

    Harald Gutgsell MD
For the first 4 years, Dr. Gutgsell was cordial and concerned for my needs. In year 5, he became argumentative, irritable, and unwilling to listen. I was told I would be receiving less pain medication than in the past and within a couple of months, that I could expect to be discharged because he had an and quot;interventional pain managementand quot; practice (meaning I must have regular injections to qualify for his care). Apparently pain medication alone, which he had supplied willingly for the past 2 years, was not an and quot;intervention.and quot; Further, the type of medication he had prescribed made it difficult for me to go elsewhere--it was a bit of a red flag. So I had a conundrum--I couldn't stay there--by his decree, which was BS since he had treated me with pain meds ALONE for two years--and my referral elsewhere was queered off by the medication he had prescribed. Fortunately I have found another practice. I would conclude by saying that I can't recommend this and quot;painand quot; management specialist to anyone. His staff turns over frequently and the mood/morale of his employees is poor. They seem like soldiers in the trenches. I actually feel sorry for them having to work there. But thankfully they for whatever reason do not stay long. We patients who stay a bit longer are treated to a horrendous ride. For your sanity's sake, avoid Dr. Gutgsell at all costs. He is seemingly sympathetic, but all he cares about is giving epidural injections. Any real concern for your pain doesn't exist.

    Baumann, Dr. Eric T
The day before my appointment I had been down with phenomena for almost a week so I forgot to call his office to say that I couldn't keep my appointment. A few days later when I started to feel better I called his office to explain what had happened and to reschedule my appointment. The lady I talked to was very rude, she did not care what or why I missed my appointment and told me that he was not willing to see me now. I asked if she could talk to him and explain why I missed my appointment but after hesitating for a few seconds she told me she doubted it but if he did it would cost me 50.00 dollars over and above what my insurance paid him. At the time I think I was just in shock at how rude she was being so I said ok and she told me she would call me back after she talked to him. I do not know if this was just her attitude of if she was actually specking for Dr Baumann since I never went into see him but either way I would never go to a doctor that treated his patients like that or allowed his office staff to treat his patients like that. Regardless if he is in pain management or not, I would rather drive 100 miles out of my way to a different doctor then to be treated like that again.
