Home Builder reviews in Paradise Valley

    Jovos Inc
Horrible - he never finished the job -- he was unprofessional, insubordinate and had poor subcontractors - his accounting was so bad - he literally made up numbers. I would NEVER let him in my home again - he was a terrible inexperienced contractor with a really bad attitude.
Nothing he installed works, there is no warranty on any products installed because the contractor never paid his subs - things were installed wrong -- cheaper products were substituted for what was originally ordered.  He is an unresponsive -- unprofessional contractor.  Stay away from this company!
On the new addition of a theater room, he didn't even install an exterior door!!!

GM Hunt Builders provides an unimaginable level of service and professionalism.  The owner, Greg Hunt, is intimately involved in every aspect of project execution and oversight.  His team provides phenomenal service that is unheard of among contractors. GM Hunt's services are equivalent to a five star hotel or a three star restaurant -- providing the highest-quality services while making you feel like the most important client in the world. We feel lucky to have worked with Greg, recommend him to all of our friends, and would work with him again in a heartbeat.

Our architect recommended working with GM Hunt for a remodel of a Paradise Valley home built in the 1980's.  The architect said, "Greg is simply the best in the business.  If you're looking for a deal, find someone else.  If you want a project that is easy on you and turns out perfectly, call Greg."  Greg was the first contractor we met with. His competence, depth of experience, and trustworthiness were immediately apparent. We didn't bother interviewing other contractors -- it was immediately clear that we were in good hands with Greg. We worked with Greg for over a year on a full remodel of a 7,500 square foot home.

Because we both work long hours, we needed a contractor who was professional, reliable, and could manage the day-to-day aspects of the project with very little input from us.  We are also perfectionists with high standards.  Greg and his team were consistently perfect for over 365 days -- they never once showed up late, missed an email, or failed to respond to a concern.  They were on time and on budget.

We operated under cost constraints and often made decisions based on pricing (IKEA kitchen cabinets, ordering fixtures from online merchants). Despite this, we were treated with total respect at every turn. Greg explained the available options and pricing, then often suggested lower-cost alternatives. He saved us from some real mistakes, and encouraged us to take the project in phases, putting off some items for the future. GM Hunt provides accurate bids and billing that shows itemization for every single charge. This level of transparency is unheard of.  As a result, we actually feel like we were money ahead for having worked with Greg.

We are young and first time home-owners. Yet, we always felt like the highest-priority clients. Every contractor and sub who entered our home was respectful of both of us, our pets, and our belongings. Greg's team went above and beyond to meet our needs -- we had everyone's cell phone number and received instant responses to emails and texts, even when they were sent on evenings or weekends. We were shocked to learn half-way through the process that GM Hunt was simultaneously working on over a dozen projects while doing our remodel. The amount of facetime with Greg, coupled with his unbelievable responsiveness, had lead us to assume that we were one of just a couple of clients.

This process taught us that the most important aspect of a general contractor is their connections with sub-contractors and vendors. Subs and vendors think Greg walks on water.  Any time we went into a showroom and they asked who we were working with, the employees would say "Lucky you.  He's the best."  Several subs told us that Greg is their highest-priority client because he has been in business for thirty years and always--even during the economic downturn--paid his bills on time and is always fair to them.  As a result, they do what Greg asks when he asks for it.  When small problems arose, Greg and his team responded to our email request within minutes an had subcontractors to the house on evenings and weekends to fix things immediately.

Every construction job has a few problems.  The biggest one we faced occurred when a sub installed a bookmatched marble backsplash (the costly centerpiece to the kitchen) that was terribly misaligned. Greg took one look at the marble and made it right within weeks at no cost to us. We did not have to fight, argue, or even advocate for things to be done properly. He just took care of things, drawing upon his strong connections with vendors and subs.  He even located the exact marble slabs from the precise batch used in our kitchen -- a needle in the haystack search for a literally one-of-a-kind fix. With any other contractor, this would have been a stressful and time-consuming disaster.  Greg was professional and low-key about moving mountains to get it fixed.

Working with GM Hunt made every single step of the project a pleasure. We are the only people we know who actually enjoyed our remodel!  We developed an outstanding relationship with Greg, his supervisor Rob, and the project supervisor Kosta. We will miss seeing them regularly now that the project is over. They are uniformly communicative, responsive, and friendly. The back office functions of billing and scheduling are a well-oiled machine.

Greg is not a discount builder.  He does things properly, which includes having a supervisor on sight every day (which you will pay for) and contracting with subs who will do quality work.  If you're looking for bargain basement prices, he is probably not your guy.  If you want quality, trustworthiness, and service, there is simply no better choice. GM Hunt has built some of the finest homes in the Valley.  Greg is well-known and has an impeccable reputation, yet treated us and our job like it was the most important thing in the world. We cannot recommend GM Hunt Builders highly enough.

    MTR Builders Inc
I purchased a home that needed a remodel.  Mansoor and the MTR team was a recommendation to me from a friend who lived in the neighborhood where I purchased the home.  His quote was significantly lower than the bid from another contractor.  I chose to give him a shot.  The work was outstanding!  The flooring installation added huge value to the home.  Mansoor's design and installation of 4 fireplaces became the "wow" factor in the home.  The kitchen and bathroom projects came out well also.  Lastly, as a father of a young family, with small children, I was extremely comfortable in having Mansoor and his team in my home.  He is a true gentleman.  I give him my highest recommendation.

They do big and small jobs. The prices are always fair. He is very likable and dependable for us. If you have an emergency you can call him. We thought our hot tub was going to burn out one night and he called us rite back and told us what to do. He will sit and have coffee with him. He has his son and others that have worked with him for over thirty years.

I use them for everything.  They came out over the summer doing things when I wasn't here.  They are extremely efficient and reliable.  They are not cheap but they are the best.  They charge by the hour.  They are thorough and efficient.  If something goes wrong, they'll come back and fix it.  There is no problem with them.  Grieg Hunt is the owner.  They are expensive and not cheap.  They are comparable to my contractors in Michigan.  They are on the higher side with price.  I love to be in business with them.

    Luster Custom Homes & Remodeling
They were excellent! All of the subcontractors they hired were professional and did great work. Luster's team was always on top of managing all of the projects going on in our house. John was our contractor from Luster and he was always courteous, timely and managed all the projects efficiently. We are still in need of some more work and we will definitely be calling on them again!
