I was contacted promptly by the owner of the business. I sent pictures of the posts and received a contract by email. The owner's son did the work. He was prompt and efficient. He was also willing and able to answer all of my questions.

After waiting a week, the estimator explained because we had our own materials, the owner felt he could not make the money he wanted on our job and refused to give us a price. I can understand making a business decision not to bid, but what I have a huge problem with is this: 1. Why wait a week to tell us that? 2. Why not give us a price with labor marked up to what is worth to you and let us decide if it's worth it to pay a professional that rate? The cost is relative to the time and money we are willing to spend. We are anxious to get it done, so you may have been pleasantly surprised we were willing to pay a premium for a pro. You didn't even give us a chance. 3. Why not refer us to a person you know could be happy to do a job our size? You must know quality people who work on smaller projects. Would it kill you to try to help us out? 4. I called the office and left a message for the owner and said these same things and provided a phone number and never got a call back. I also said I was planning to review the experience on Angies List since this is where I found him. No call back.

Maxum Construction recently completed a deck and pergola for us. I can honestly say the experience from beginning to end was very good. Jim, the General Manager was very thorough and helpful in designing our project. The crews were pleasant to work with and very punctual. However, what we are most pleased with is the quality of work and the finished look. It is beautiful and a great addition to our back yard! As a bonus, their pricing was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Maxum Construction to anyone considering a remodeling project!

I had three companies out from Angie's list to quote me on repairing my pool deck and resurfacing it. The first two companies sent very nice, professional people to look at my situation and quotes were sent a few days after.  Victor Murilo from Mercury Pool Plastering was the third to give me a quote.  I chose Victor's company for two reasons; the first being his quote was several hundred dollars less than the other companies and two; he actually took the time to slow down for a minute talk to me about the project and did something most companies do not do anymore, build rapport.  He did prepare me that if certain things didn't go right, it would increase the cost of the project. (which was in the ballpark of the other quotes.) The project went really well.  I was surprised that Mercury Pool did not need to drain the pool to add the new finish. (One company wanted to completely drain the pool, the other wanted to half empty it.) Not to give away any of his secrets, but Victor's company had an incredibly imaginative way to add the new deck surface without draining the pool! Now my pool deck looks better than it did when I first bought the house. I have already enthusiastically referred Mercury Pool to the owner of a home improvement company that I know.  My advice, get several quotes, and have Victor out last for your pool repair needs.

We contracted with Mayer and Sons to build a structure over our outdoor kitchen.  From the original meeting with Robert we knew that he cared about his work and took pride in how it would turn out.  We weren't quite sure what we wanted and Robert worked with us to figure out our vision.
Robert was communicative, creative and helpful throughout the process.  He listened to what we wanted and he and his son, Jeremiah, came up with ideas to enhance it and bring it to life.  When the construction began they were at our house ready to work.  he craftsmanship is very good and we are quite pleased with the structure.
We had some issues with the subcontractor who was hired for paint, stucco and drywall who didn't have the pride in their work that Robert did.  Robert was clearly frustrated with this since he recommended the subcontractor and he went above and beyond to ensure that we were ultimately happy.
We would hire Mayer and Sons again.  They are a good mix of experience, creativity, workmanship and intergrity.

Pete, the owner, came out and surveyed the area. He made some excellent recommendations and we went with his ideas.  Pete was punctual and his team that performed the work were on time as committed.
The work was originally scheduled for 3 days, but due to overcast skies and the underlayment not drying as fast as necessary, the work was extended into a 4th day.
The quality of the work was excellent and the attention to detail was terrific. Each day the team picked up any mess they had created and took it with them. Nothing was left in my trash containers.  Upon final inspection by Pete, he noticed some little imperfections that I had not noticed and immediately contacted the team and scheduled them to return to make the minor corrections.
Very happy with the result and even more happy with the contractor.  Imagine Concrete will do all my work from here on out!

Communication was key. John, the owner, kept us informed of every step. Quality of the work was exceptional. Price was more than some of the estimates from other companies, but the quality was better and the product exceeded our expectations.

They seemed to be professional. Before recommending them to other people, I would like waiting them to finish the job the were assigned to. Overall, I am grading them an A. I think I will be using them in the future.

I received a prompt response to my request for a quote to remove and replace the walk deck on my back yard balcony. The pricing was not the lowest or the highest but my decision to use Lyon's was based on their Angie's List ratings and the presentation that Mike made to me on how the work would be performed. It took a few weeks to get the job scheduled, but I was impressed once the work began.
The first day, the carpentry crew came in to remove the old deck and to install the plywood portion of the new deck. Some of the original joists had rotted and additional work was required. We quickly agreed on how the additional work would be done and what the additional costs would be. The carpentry crew had brought a supply trailer which had all the necessary lumber for the planned and the additional work, so there was no delay in completing the carpentry work. That day they left the job site in cleaner condition than they found it.
The next day, the deck crew came in begin the application of the flashings and deck coatings. The multi-layer deck system required 5 partial days to apply and cure. Just like the carpentry crew, the deck group continually cleaned up around the work area. At the end of each day, the tools and materials were neatly stored.  After the final coating was applied, I was asked if I had any touch up paint so that he could repaint some of the stucco wall that had been scuffed during the installation. Again, the area was cleaned up perfectly.
All the workers were punctual, professional and polite. The craftmanship was excellent. I am pleased with the experience and the high quality product. I highly recommend Lyon's Roofing.

Overall, I was impressed with their obvious knowledge and experience, and had full confidence that Mayer & Sons could do a great job on the covered patio or ramada. It would have been nice if they could have foreseen the obstacles with the concrete to see the whole picture, rather than just their own carpentry work, though I can understand how they are experts in their own area.

Robert seems to be a straight-talking and practical craftsman and Jeremiah seems to have a bit more professional style and upselling approach. During my meeting with them, Jeremiah was trying to offer some creative ideas and upgraded services, and Robert sort of dismissed or negated his ideas, making for some awkward moments that felt a bit unprofessional. I would suggest that they get on the same page about how they would cooperate in the sales estimate process.

Still, their prices and quality seemed good and I would consider using their services if it had worked better for my backyard.
