Fence Company reviews in Fountain Hills

  • The process was amazing. We called Allied Gates and Jason came out to the house. He took some measurements and then came in and proceeded to show us pictures as well as view pictures of gates that we had seen on different websites. He compiled the ideas that we liked and did computer drawings of the potential gates tweaking the drawings as he went. He always returned phone calls promptly and answered all of our questions and concerns. Jason did not tells us what we wanted to hear; if we came up with an idea that wouldn't be feasible, Jason told us. We appreciated his honesty. The time that Jason took with us sealed the deal!

  • Interior paint was OK, exterior was a very bad job, and it took nearly two years to get owner to do anything about it, and then he sent a guy for one day. Owner was a serial liar and also got angry when confronted with poor work and broken promises. All this doesn't matter now, since the owner drove himself out of business

  • First of all, I have to say the fence itself is great.  But we are so disappointed in the workmanship and customer service!  Marty came out on a Sunday morning; and we were very pleased with the prompt estimate.   He sent 2 of his men to install the fence (although both my husband and I remember him saying that HE would be on the jobsite doing the installation).  They arrived late but completed the installation promptly...however when we took the fence down we noticed that the plastic sleeves that were placed in the holes that were drilled in our patio deck were not flush with the surface of the decking.  One of them is up about a 1/4", which someone can easily trip and fall on.  Also, where one of the holes was drilled a large chunk of the decking came out adjacent to the hole.   My husband called and notified them of the problems.  Marty's response was pretty much a blow off.   He said that WE could take a block of wood and hammer down the plastic sleeves....and I suppose WE could....but WE are not the installers and should not have to complete the work ourselves.   We sent him a photo of the hole in the decking...and he said that was a stone in the decking that blew out.  We asked that he come and take a look at the workmanship.  His response was "What is the outcome that you want from me looking at it?"  Well Marty....here is your answer:  We would like you to make it right.  Correct your worker's mistakes.  Take some responsibility.   After ready so many wonderful reviews, we cannot believe how poor the customer service was for us.

  • We got a fence to keep our new puppy in our yard.  Action Gates and Fence came in only slightly higher bid than one of the other companies, but given the better customer service in response and in making minor adjustments, we went with Action - and we're glad we did!

  • 2 yrs ago I moved to a home in AZ with a beautiful pool and because there were no young children around, a pool gate was not necessary.  This year I have a 1 yr old grandchild and safety became my 1st priority.  As I always do, I got on Angies List and after reviewing found Sun King Fencing & Gates located in Mesa.  Monte came to my home and I was very impressed with his politeness, knowledge and professionalism.  Once the gates were made, the workers arrived on time with all the pieces and kept working until it was completed.  They looked over the whole fence and did a few touch-up spray painting on a few spots.  Thank you Monte for making this project enjoyable and stress-free.  Great Job!!!!

  • He brought some I called Sunset Gates based on the reviews in Angies list.  I had not heard of them before.  My call was answered by Shawn McPeters who couldn't have been nicer or more professional.  We set up an appointment for him to come look at the work I was requesting in a timely manner that met both of our schedules.  In the meantime, he sent me some brochures to look at and get ideas for what look I liked.  He showed up on time and spent a lot of time looking at what I wanted done and giving me helpful suggestions.  After deciding on a particular style, he told me it would be around 3 weeks to manufacture the gates and have them installed.  He asked for about a 1/3 down payment and said the balance would be due after installation and I was satisfied.
He called about 3 weeks later to inform me that the gates were done and that he would be out to install.  No one needed to be there because he knew I travel for business a lot.  When I asked about paying him the balance, he said when you get home take a look and see if your satisfied.  Give me call then.
When I got I home I was stunned at how great they looked and functioned.  They made a huge visual improvement to the look of the house, and they function wonderful. The balance due was exactly what we agreed to when I ordered them.  No surprises.
Can't say enough good about Shawn and Sunset Gates!!

  • First I researched Angies List and then contacted the three with the better reviews and I took appointment for bids.
Action Gate was not the least expensive but Gary gave me much confidence that the work would be done correctly.
Main topic and priority  concern was  the gate  would be placed  in the vicinity of pool pump equipment and did not want to disturb the underground pipes.
After I got their bid I immediately called and spoke with Diane asking if possibly someone could come out prior and dig the hole of the most concern and then design the gate panel accordingly because I was very flexible in panel sizes.
She needed to speak with Gary and got back with me stating that it wasn't possible to come out but ALL adjustments would be made onsite the day of installation and not to worry . I remember specifically saying I cant understand how this is possible making a appropriate gate on site and the comment was again "Don't Worry we do it all the time"
I gave  my deposit  and trusted that Gary and Action Gates was all that the reviews had stated..
The day of install..... The first whole they dug was there right above the pipes for pool and water feature. I was given no options or solutions and basically it wasn't talked because I assumed they would do something to "ADJUST".
I asked Gary wouldn't it have just been easier  FOR THEM and less stress to come out and verify first before constructing panels and the comment was" it wasn't  cost effective for them, driving out and using his guys in that way".
My husband was out of the country so the best form of communication is  through  photos and I started to take pictures for him to explain  later because I was worried about broken pool pipes (overtime) with the post right above them and movement from usage.
I watch the whole process as I have seen my husband do with many services around the house and  though nothing of it being mindful of staying out of the way.
When they just  started pouring the concrete directly on to pipes I asked if this could possibly create any issues in the future, the response was  "NO" and in a very annoyed tone. We do it all the time! I said this was the very last thing that was suppose to happen.................no comment.
Some time passed and there was a gap between the wall and the gate and he advised his help to put in a spacer.
It was a piece of metal about 2 inches long  wedging between  the house and gate. For me, A complete eye sore and I asked if possibly we could find another solution..........and then EXPLOSION!
Gary completely exploded on me and for a few seconds I felt fearful dealing with someone on my own.
I Never have heard any contractor yell and attack like this....ever!
He was  loudly yelling and it was  humiliating to be treated like this in front of his workers.
    Screaming
"That I have been watching over them all morning ,,taking pictures, asking questions since they arrived." Why didn't I just leave them alone to do the work"" Did I just want them to leave right now," He didn't want my money "" He will remove the spacer but I wont have a ANY warranty "
I just stood there numb and when he stopped shouting  I reminded  him that I have a right on  my property to watch what was transpiring and meant no insult to him at all .
I had every intention of paying for his work but I want it done in  the proper way.
.He stopped attacking but no more  eye contact  and no more conversation.
After quite some time when he realized that I was not going away and I was still there he eventually came over and apologized for his behavior towards me
He explained personal reasons of his own that I understood and I did and do accept his apology.
He again mentioned he didn't want the remainder of the balance from me because I didn't deserve that type of treatment and .
I thought that an apology was very kind and understood that he has a good reputation and didn't want it tarnished.
However, I feel I have a responsibility to Angie List  Users to be truthful and not sweep this experience under the rug even though I completely accepted his apologyof outburst  towards me.
However, now I have the potential of further damages and expenses in the event the concrete shifts from useage and destroys underground plastic  pool pipes.. The very first concern we spoke about in the initial consultation.

  • I spent months trying to find the right contractor to build me a beautiful Fountain Hills backyard patio living area, and after going back & forth over a number of different factors (price, style, professionalism, attention to detail, etc.), I elected to go with Masterscapes. I could not have been happier with the end result.
This was a big project that involved engineering work, city approval, land regrading, flood zone water flow compliance, etc.  Masterscapes worked terrificly with my personally-hired engineer to get the job done exactly the way I wanted it.  They regraded the land, poured concrete, built a water flow flood zone retaining wall, and built a great backyard patio - complete with mexican adobe pavers, travertine built-in benches, a Kiva fireplace, a built-in BBQ grill, custom-finished gates and a stucco-finished wall.
My backyard is now the envy of the neighborhood and a great place to entertain.
Masterscapes was not the cheapest out there, but they charged me what I think was a fair price - and convinced me that they knew what they were doing - and would do it the way wanted. My dealings with them were fair and honest - and I can tell it meant a lot to them to make sure I was a satisfied customer - which I am.

  • Justin did a great job!  He was prompt coming out to give a quote--made suggestions on what would work best, too.  He picked up materials, worked steady all day, cleaned up work area.  His suggestion of redwood slats in gate was something I hadn't thought of but really dresses up the look and provides privacy.   Had a quote on just a gate from a big box store that was almost as much as gate, labor and my door to garage total.  Glad I checked Angie's List for this company.  Thanks, Justin.

  • Work started and ended in the time line expected including inspections from the town. Issues were raised about the contracted length of my retaining wall and materials used, among other things. The first inspection revealed the rebar was too close to the ground, which they corrected. Contract called for 40 ft of retaining wall 2 ft high. Rick decided only to build 32 ft of retaining wall at that height without communicating to me. Only after I questioned the situation did he offer to correct it. The spec called for concrete in the footing; he used grout. I did not ask for that to be corrected. The operation of the mortar mixer on my driveway left permanent stains. I asked why not use a tarp and he said it would wash off. It did not. I asked for a 6 ft high wall and some areas are as short as 5' 2". I felt I was deceived because the contract also stated OR 8 courses high. Now I know 8 courses high does not equal 6 ft. I asked for a 4 ft gate and received a smaller gate. I take blame for not getting clarification on what the OR's meant in the contract. We also agreed he would haul away the debris for $300.00. He convinced me he could haul "most if not all" of it away. When, in fact, he has a small trailer and could not meet his word. Among a list of other things, when I said the final inspection needed to be done before final payment, he stated he never had to wait on that before and that he'd get lawyers involved if need be and that my non-payment was preventing him from making his house payment and paying his staff. I paid promptly after the final inspection with an agreement of a $300 discount. Frankly, it wasn't enough of a discount for all of the problems, but I just wanted to be done with it all.
