How to Make Kitchen Appliances Last Longer

The technician wanted to charge me labor on top of the service call until I reminded him of my understanding from my phone call with the office. He then changed the billing and included that service fee in the price. He also left a terrible mess on my floor and didn't even bother to clean it up.

Paul came out and quickly determined the problem was a broken fan. They did not have the part in stock and it was on back order. Paul suggested keeping a box fan behind the fridge to help keep it cool in the mean time and it worked! Once the part came in it was a super quick fix. 300

I told them not to come to the house unless they called my son first and confirmed he was there and able to meet them. They told me they would do that. However, they did not contact him first, and just stuck a business card in the door. I called to inquire about that, but they did not send anyone back out for two weeks. I asked for someone who could light my furnace as well as fix my dryer and was assured they would send someone who could do both. They assured me they light furnaces regularly. The technician was able to fix the dryer just fine and it works well. He didn't, however, know where the pilot light on the furnace was and tried to read directions, but still didn't understand how to do it. He told me I probably needed parts replaced. The technician was polite. However, I think I was charged for him not lighting my furnace. I then called another company who sent someone out and they lit it and got the furnace going right away without replacing any parts or having any difficulty.

Mike came as scheduled and quickly diagnosed the problem with a 28-year-old GE refrigerator [this was its first repair!]. He then used his laptop to find the parts necessary to effect the repair, using multiple sites. Amazingly, parts for this old fridge were still available! He then told me total cost of repair, including parts and labor. I authorized the repair; parts have been ordered and he will call when the parts are in to set up a service call to complete the repair.
This is not the first time I have used Appliance Service today. Six months ago Matt came and repaired our 28-year-old [notice a pattern here?], after first running down the part at a shop that refurbishes old timers. The installation was difficult, requiring pulling the entire oven out onto the counter to effect the repair. He was extremely competent and courteous. I don't remember the cost of this past experience with Appliance Service Today but I know it was done in a timely fashion at a reasonable price. Still earlier Matt had replaced a switch on our electric range [also 28-years old as we remodeled the entire kitchen with new appliances at that time] and had managed a work-around since the original factory part was no longer available. The work-around has worked perfectly in the six months since his visit.
When it comes to appliance repair, we wouldn't call anyone else [unless it happened to be a warranty repair, then we have to use the manufacturer's service usually].

My dishwasher stopped draining so I called appliance service today, with the part I thought it needed. Needless to say I am not the professional, they are. The part I ordered came in the next day, but did not fix the problem, JR came the same day and did the correctly diagnosed it. He ordered the part and had it back and running the next day. Unfortunate for me, the following week my dryer stopped working. We called them that morning, provided them with the serial number, and Mike was there the same afternoon, and had it up and running again by the end of the day.

Prompt and professional, quickly diagnosed motherboard failure in one-month-old LG dryer. Had a replacement board overnighted from LG.  Also offered useful observations and recommendations about new washers and dryers and about LG. I can't comment on cost since this repair was done under warranty.
I am rarely happy with service companies, but I strongly recommend these guys.

Extremely well. The Office assistant provided intial assistance and ordered parts needed (as to her knowledge-which turned accurate).
The tech was very prompt, accurate, professional and business helpful.
He then convinced the Insurance Company (never easy to deal with) that one appliance needed replacing while fully restoring the other appliance to it's original performance when new.

It was great. They fixed the washer in just a few minutes, and showed me exactly what to do if it happens again. They also gave me some helpful suggestions to avoid the problem and to care for the machine in general. The two men were pleasant and cheerful and helpful and I felt safe having them in my home, despite being a single mom.

This repair took two visits.  One to identify the problem and order the part.  The second visit was to install the part.  The tech was very professional and friendly.  He arrived on time and was able to quickly identify the problem.  The company called me when the part came in and we scheduled the repair.  Again, the same tech arrived on time, as promised and did a quick and effcient job.  I would use this company again

Needed to have dishwasher diagnosed after inspector found it not going through cycles or draining. Mike took a look and said the motor was just 'frozen' from sitting unused for a few months! Magic touch and now it works just fine. : )
