    Lersch, Dr. David
Our daughter flew in from Philadelphia with her 10 month old. We and her Philadelphia pediatrician assumed this was from a flu shot she had before she left. The pediatrician said she could fly even with a small fever. Our granddaughter has run a 100-105 deg temp since landing. This morning the pediatrician recommended she see a local doctor. I called around this morning to try to schedule an appt. My first choice was Dr Lersch because of the positive Angie's List reviews. The receptionist said she would check with the doctor and call me back. I thought it unlikely. Someone who seemed like a charge nurse called me back to give me an appointment. Assessing our situation, the nurse made a suggestion that it could be an ear infection, treatable in time before her return flight. It makes perfect sense! She didn't give us a hard time scheduling, taking input information or requiring my daughter to change my granddaughter's primary care to this facility. Another group did make this a requirement. My daughter contacted her out of town insurance and made necessary documentation for an out of town visit. t am delighted with this office before even seeing the doctor. This is caring about patients. Kudos! I'll update and complete my rating after seeing Dr Lersch. I am hopeful this will be our granddaughters local pediatrician.

We LOVE this office - the doctors are GREAT and the nursing staff and return call policy is so helpful (especially for new moms) - the only complaint is the long wait (but it's worth it because of the time they are willing to spend with you - and you know that they are just doing the same for others).

I have used them for twenty years. We were called into the room five minutes after getting there. They are very efficient and prompt. I called in the morning and was able to go in the same afternoon.

I called the office and explained the problem. It is a pleasant surprise when a live person usually answers the phone! I was able to get my daughter in very quickly, within 24-48 hours, and they were sensitive enough to schedule the appointment with a female pediatrician since our regular pediatrician (also female) was on vacation. The office is clean and there is a nice, big aquarium for the kids to look at in the waiting room, as well as small TVs in little nooks for them to watch. It is divided into 'well' and 'sick' patients, to help minimize the spreading of illness. There is a small outdoor playground area that is sheltered and fenced in and accessible from the office. We arrived for the appointment and did have to wait for a while, maybe 30 minutes or so, before being called back. The nurse took my daughter's temperature, blood pressure, weight and height, then brought us to the exam room. The exam rooms have very nice murals painted on the walls. Our exam room had Baloo and Mowgli from the Jungle Book. The doctor came in soon after we were in the exam room, and talked to us about the problem. She immediately honed in on the fact that my daughter was coughing, which wasn't even why we were being seen, but was something I had planned to ask about. She listened to the cough and to my daughter's lungs, and said that it sounded like it was reactive rather than an infection of some sort, most likely due to allergies. She talked about an inhaler and said that she really thought that would help the cough. They didn't have any samples (were out due to high demand recently), but she gave my daughter a nebulizer treatment and the coughing immediately improved. She offered a nebulizer as an option, but we decided to try the inhaler first. She quickly and calmly assessed the problem my daughter was having, and recommended some bloodwork or at least a finger stick to test for anemia. My daughter has a severe phobic reaction to needles, and it was quite an ordeal. The doctor was patient and a nurse came in to try to do the needle stick. My daughter freaked out, and the nurse was very calm and kind and patient with her, but was not able to do the needle stick. Another nurse came in who was not as understanding and patient, and they tried to hold my daughter (with my permission) to do the needle stick. It didn't happen, and eventually the doctor decided that it just wasn't going to happen and said to let them know if the bleeding continued and she could talk to Amanda's regular pediatrician to determine what the best course of action would be, if they needed to draw blood, how to go about it, etc. It was traumatic and stressful for both me and my daughter, but I felt that the daughter and at least one of the nurses handled it well, and were very compassionate and understanding of my situation and my daughter's reactions. Overall, I was pleased and impressed with the efficiency of the office and staff, and the great bedside manner that the doctor had with both me and my daughter. She seemed very competent and knowledgable and I feel that we got an accurate diagnosis and treatment. I would recommend Mesa Pediatrics to other parents.

I do not have to wait long at all when I have an appointment scheduled. They have 24 hour triage if I need them after hours. I will continue using them in the future.

My daughter has been having stomach aches. We saw Jan who asked a lot of questions and wrote down a lot of information. She scheduled her for a blood test and referred us to a GI doc after listening very carefully to what my daughter was saying. Jan is very competent and friendly. She takes the kids seriously.

We just made a call this morning and he was able to get us in. His office staff is always really nice and it is also nice when someone has a sick kid and they can get them in right away. The doctor also spends time explaining things. We left today with antibiotics for our son.
