    Neil W Carmony DDS
While I have no doubt that Neil Carmony is a competent dentist, I was never happy or comfortable with my treatment there.

Dr. Carmony and his staff operate what I call a "high-speed, high-volume" practice. They do all the essential things, as quickly as they can, and move on to the next patient. If you prefer to get in and out of a dental office as quickly as possible, and you don't care much about individual attention, clear communication, and attention to details...then maybe Neil Carmony is O.K. for you.

Personally, I prefer caregivers who are attentive, good listeners, with low-key personalities, who focus on the patient. Maybe it's just me, but I felt Dr. Carmony had a BIG ego; he always talked "at me," or "talked down" to me, and he seldom listened to anything I said, except the essentials of doing work in my mouth. Above all, after 3 years at Dr. Carmony's office, I felt like the only reason Dr. Carmony looked in my mouth, was to make money in my mouth. In particular, he badgered me repeatedly to get some expensive cosmetic work done that he claimed was vital...he got so unpleasant that I went to another dentist for a 2nd opinion.

Also, Carmony charged me well over his estimates: $75-150 over: for a filling and for a root canal and crown. These were not only the most expensive work I've had done in recent years, they are also the most mediocre quality, with little attention to detail.

The skills of his hygienists are only fair-to-mediocre. I had 2 different ones, neither has the light, skillful touch with a pick that makes such a great difference in my comfort level during the cleaning process.

THE GOOD NEWS: For my 2nd opinion, I went to Dr. Joseph Andrews; now I'm very happy. Dr. Andrews' personality is great, he says the cosmetic work can wait, he kept my costs down, and both he and his hygienist, "Casey" have outstanding skills !!

    Joseph Andrews DDS
I'm more than just and quot;satisfied, and quot; I am VERY pleased and happy with every aspect of my experience at Dr. Andrews' dental office. My teeth are quite sensitive, and I DREAD dental hygienists with mediocre-to-poor technique (like my previous hygienist) who move too fast and get into bad habits of moving too quickly (and carelessly) with their pick and other instruments...it's VERY uncomfortable to endure this for 20-30 minutes. Frankly, it's a big part of why I dread going to the dentist.

BUT I'M VERY HAPPY to report that (Kasi... sp? say it like and quot;Caseyand quot;) HAS SUPERB SKILLS !! This woman understands the fine art of how to move a pick in a patient's mouth: slowly, carefully, and using very small movements. She's slow and careful, takes her time on each tooth, but she's also efficient and does a thorough job. Words can't say how much I appreciate her skills. She also lowers my anxiety level by EXPLAINING everything she's doing, while she's doing it, which is GREAT! She is a true professional.

My interaction with Dr. Andrews was brief, but he impressed me, also. He checked all my teeth, went through my chart with me, and made good use of the dental records I brought from my previous dentist. He used my prior X-rays, thus keeping my expenses DOWN ( as well as my radiation exposure.) Unlike my previous dentist, Dr. Andrews did NOT try to and quot;sell meand quot; on getting other work done, but he seems happy to respect my wishes (and my budget) and leave that up to me. Dr. Andrews' personality strikes me as just what a professional caregiver should be like: kind, respectful, low-key...a truly and quot;nice guy.and quot; I really appreciate Dr. Andrews, because of my previous dentist's BIG ego; he always and quot;talked downand quot; to me, and he often pressured me to get more (costly) work done.

Dr. Andrews and his staff--including the fine folks at the front desk--have provided me with an excellent experience, and welcome relief from the misery I felt with my previous dentist. I highly recommend this dental office, PLEASE NOTE: THEIR OFFICE HAS MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS; they're now at 2601 County Ave., Texarkana AR 71854. (870) 774-6512.
