    Brick Master
Project went great. Todd was very responsive and thorough in explaining the process. This was on an older house with a less-than-common brick color, and the window being closed in was on the front of the house, so I was concerned about matching the brick. I'm amazed at how close Todd got the brick color, and he did a special wash after so the new brick looked aged like the older brick. I had a quote from another brick company before who ended up too busy for my job, so Todd's price was reasonable based on the other quote I received, and I believe very fair for the work he did. He was able to start the job sooner than I expected, he stayed right on schedule, and he stayed right on budget. Great job and I would use again!

    Get-ER-Done Handyman Services
I called Eddy regarding some masonry work after having a new anchor installed for electrical service to my house.  I had a number of other services quoted as well.  Eddy was very nice and took a mallet up on the roof and tapped some bricks back in place to temporarily keep rodents out until the masonry could be fully repaired.  He then looked at all the other work I needed and provided a quote in the neighborhood of $850.  I was content with that as the work could be completed in 1-2 days and he agreed to be there the following week to perform the work.  The following week I received a call from Eddy's wife informing me the job he was on got behind and he would not be there as scheduled.  She said they would be in touch in a few days to reschedule the work.

I never heard from them again.

Perhaps he had a bigger job come up and my $850 job was no longer appealing.  Fair enough.  But to quote someone a job and time to be there only to completely disappear without a trace is unacceptable.

I'm reminded of this today and only placing the review now as I still need some of the work I required at that time and came back to Angie's List to search for a handyman only to have Get-ER-Done as the top recommendation.

    Norwood Stone & Brick Masonry
They started this project back in November, and the job is not done yet, about 4 months later. All they have left to do now is to acid-wash the brick to complete the process, but they've got all of my money, and my job is not completed. It's been over a month since they were here. The workers are very courteous; I just want the job done.

    Solid As A Rock
I had planned onreplacing the small wood deck and steps outside of my back door with wood untilI met Ron from Solid as a Rock Landscaping. He was doing work for aneighbor and I asked him for an estimate. I accepted the price and to my surprise Ron and his crew started work later thatday. It tookthem three days to complete and it looks great. My wife and I are very happy with the job, cleanup and the people. Thanks Ron, Mike, Mack and Malachi.

    CHIMNEY DOCTOR
Jeff was phenomenal.  To put it in perspective, we were selling our house and the buyers had our chimney inspected by another company and sent us an invoice for repairs. Knowing nothing about chimney's, I wanted a second opinion considering some of the repairs seemed like overkill, and the quoted price was over $1,600!  So after reviewing companies on Angie's List, I found The Chimney Doctor. Jeff, the owner, responded very quickly and came to do his own inspection.  As it turned out, he had basically the same list of repairs.  However, he indicated that he might be able to repair the existing damper, not add a new one. And in the end, he was able to repair it.  Also, knowing we were selling the house, he wanted to be cautious of our budget but have it look nice.  On his own volition, he added insulation on the interior and painted the inside box a dark black to make it pop. He also added some "ash" that looked good with the gas logs.  He simply wanted it to look nice for the buyers. That says a lot about him and how he runs his company. And in the end, the total cost was $420.  Amazing the difference between Jeff and his competition.
I HIGHLY recommend using Jeff to help you with your chimney. Our new house actually has two chimneys, and he's the only one I'll call to help when help is needed.

Also, extended the tunnel part of the doggy door to fit a 2 x 6 wall.  The doggy door was initially 3 inches to short to fit through the 2 x 6 wall frame. Corrected problem with tunnel very professionally.  Cleaned up leftover constructions pieces and vacuumed interior as well around area serviced.  Very polite and will contact again for future service. Fast and courteous, same day service.

    Brick Master
Building the mailbox was done in half a day. Made no mess and minimal disturbance of ground around it. Had to wait about a month to get the numbers and flag put on. Very pleased with finished product. It may have been that our time expectations were unrealistic but if I need them to do something else, would get them to tell me when they expected to Completely finish.

    Brick Master

Todd, the owner, is a very personable and nice gentleman to speak with, but the job did not go as expected.

The job created a lot of dust and mess in the house.  Todd's vacuum and work covers were loaded with grit and dust from other jobs.  We are still trying to get the dust off of our new hardwood floors.

Todd's work was good in some areas but poor in others.  One side of the den fireplace with a corner is poorly done and the stones bow out and the edges run uphill and downhill.  The opposite side of the same fireplace face is well aligned and the stones run level.  On the other fireplace a small stone was installed with the cut edge exposed.

Corrective action was attempted by Todd but the result was worse than when he started and he also cracked a larger stone while removing the small one.

Calls to Todd went unanswered for several days even though voice mails were left.  A stop payment on the last payment of 10% check was issued until the work was completed.

Todd finally came to the house and the corrective actions discussed.  The needed items were discussed and I pointed out the issues I had with the den fireplace where the edge was not well done.  Todd did not take the feedback well and made the following statements:

    1. My wife paid him the last payment and that was "acceptance" of the work.

    2. He had been back once to make a correction, but it was removed before it set as it was not acceptable.  He was being inconvenienced having to come back again.

    3.  A stop payment on the check was "disrespectful" to him.

Todd demanded payment for the stopped check plus fees his bank had assessed before he would do any more work.  I will not pay for work that is not done and Todd left.  I have not heard from Todd in over a week and I will find another contractor to correct and then complete the work.

Todd and Brick Masters are highly rated on Angie's list but my experience was poor - how did he achieve those high ratings with the example of the work he performed for me and his behavior over the needed corrections?

    Brick Master
They did a great job across the board. He was friendly and up front about the options and cost. They showed up on time for the estimate and the actual work, and were finished quickly. The mailbox looks great and has a few nice design details - it's exactly what we wanted. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended!

They were very efficient and did a beautiful job. Todd is very nice and a fine craftsman who clearly knows the details of his trade and cares about his work.I highly recommend Brick Master and will use him again if we have any need for his services in the future.
