    Jeff was awesome! He was so thorough in his work and he helped explain several things that were over my head. He was kind, showed me how to operate my newly working fireplace, and even held my baby while I practiced. I would hire him again and again! He is former military, too, so not only are you helping out a veteran, but you know you are in good hands. He was also very reasonably priced. Thanks for your help, Jeff! We���re still loving our fireplace and all of the nice touches you added.

    It went extremely well. Jeff talked me out of what I thought I wanted, and he was right totally. He handled all the details of picking out materials, and he honored his estimated price to the penny. He is busy (understandably; he does excellent work), but he's worth waiting for.

    Todd, the owner, is a very personable and nice gentleman to speak with, but the job did not go as expected.

    The job created a lot of dust and mess in the house.  Todd's vacuum and work covers were loaded with grit and dust from other jobs.  We are still trying to get the dust off of our new hardwood floors.

    Todd's work was good in some areas but poor in others.  One side of the den fireplace with a corner is poorly done and the stones bow out and the edges run uphill and downhill.  The opposite side of the same fireplace face is well aligned and the stones run level.  On the other fireplace a small stone was installed with the cut edge exposed.

    Corrective action was attempted by Todd but the result was worse than when he started and he also cracked a larger stone while removing the small one.

    Calls to Todd went unanswered for several days even though voice mails were left.  A stop payment on the last payment of 10% check was issued until the work was completed.

    Todd finally came to the house and the corrective actions discussed.  The needed items were discussed and I pointed out the issues I had with the den fireplace where the edge was not well done.  Todd did not take the feedback well and made the following statements:

    1. My wife paid him the last payment and that was "acceptance" of the work.

    2. He had been back once to make a correction, but it was removed before it set as it was not acceptable.  He was being inconvenienced having to come back again.

    3.  A stop payment on the check was "disrespectful" to him.

    Todd demanded payment for the stopped check plus fees his bank had assessed before he would do any more work.  I will not pay for work that is not done and Todd left.  I have not heard from Todd in over a week and I will find another contractor to correct and then complete the work.

    Todd and Brick Masters are highly rated on Angie's list but my experience was poor - how did he achieve those high ratings with the example of the work he performed for me and his behavior over the needed corrections?

    They came in and installed the logs and everything. It was a good job. They told me how to clean the logs in the fall and how to do everything, and that they would come back and do the service for us if needed. They were very prompt. We called, made an appointment, and the man said they would have to come out and take a look, and set up a time. They were here at that time. Then when they gave me a date saying that they would come back and finish the job, they were here. They were punctual. They were right on the money. There wasn't any overflow, there weren't any extra costs. Everything was fine. I will probably have them out to service the fireplace and things like that.

    This company came to me highly recommended by several friends, yet my experience was very disappointing. The technician who came could not have been nicer, but he did nothing that was worth $65. At all. I asked for my gas fireplace unit to be serviced. He turned the gas on, lit the pilot light, lit the fire, and literally, that was it. I did ask him some basic questions about how to use the fireplace (as I've never had a gas unit before) which he kindly answered.

    After he left, the fireplace unit would not stay lit for more than five minutes. I called to have a return visit and was told no one could come for more than a month. So I called another company and that's when I realized how terrible the service was from Buck's. The other company's technician told me my chimney and gas log unit were both totally filthy with soot and dust and needed cleaning. Also, he noticed that the unit was overheating. And he charged less to tell me this information.

    The entire job was done very  professionally, and the end results were even better than expected.  The demolition crew removed the chimney and fireplace, followed by crews that rebuilt and patched the walls and roof.  Work was performed very timely and as promised.  I was very pleased with the results.

    Our fireplace wasn't firing upon turning the light switch on. We replaced the batteries and that didn't do the trick so we thought there may be something else going on. The guys who came out to check the fireplace were great and very professional/friendly. Turns out all that was wrong was that the batteries weren't connecting with the coils. All they had to do was twist and rotate the batteries a bit - low and behold, fireplace turns on. Since they were here, they cleaned the glass on the fireplace screen, etc. The guys told me I would be charged a and quot;trip feeand quot;. My issue wasn't with the repair guys and their professionalism or service. My issue was with the bill and the woman I spoke with when I called to ask about it.

    When I received my bill, it was nearly $60! For twisting my batteries and using glass cleaner on the fireplace screen? I could have done that myself! I would say a bill of $25 or so would have been more agreeable with me. Yes, they had to take their time to come to my house, so I understand having to pay something. But $60?! Really???

    After picking myself up off the floor, I called to speak with their billing dept. The woman I was transferred to was incredibly rude. I was being very nice so it wasn't like she was responding to my negativity. I simply asked why the bill was so high and her response was that they were basically doing me a favor - I should have been charges $115 or more (!!!!), but they reduced it to a and quot;trip feeand quot; of $60. Even when I explained my frustration over a bill that high for twisting batteries and cleaning the glass, she still wouldn't budge and only became ruder. She repeated herself and gave me the same robotic verbiage.

    I will not be calling this company again or referring any of my friends/family. And honestly, I would not be leaving a negative report if the woman would have been cordial and pleasant with me. The fact that she treated a customer that way - that is why I have left this report.

    It all began months ago when we started house-shopping in a neighborhood where the homes are generally older (built in 1920's and 1930's). Todd consulted with us on several different occasions before we even made an offer on a house. He was very patient and willing to look at different houses and answer our questions not knowing whether we would ever buy a house and actually need his services. Once we finally purchased a home and talked with Todd about doing the work, I was a little nervous about paying him so much up-front. However, I checked the references Todd gave me and we went ahead and paid him for the materials. He and his crew were considerate of our new neighbors as they did the work and consulted with us appropriately as the work was completed. The finished fireplace really looks great, and we look forward to cold weather when we can sit by a roaring fire! Overall, Todd is a trustworthy brick mason who does excellent work and will treat you right.

    He came and gave me an estimate and told me I needed a new damper and that he would order it for me. After about three weeks I called, and he said that the company had sent the wrong damper and that he would reorder it. I called again a few days after the new damper was supposed to be delivered, and he told me he had it, but that his truck had been broken into and his appointment book was stolen. We made arrangements for him to come about a week later and install the damper. I called the morning he was supposed to, come and he said he would need to call me back. He hadn't called back 1 1/2 hours before he was supposed to be there so I called and left another message. He had a different company call me and say that he would be unable to perform the service and could they do it instead. The said they needed to reorder the damper. I have since started over with a completely different service. This was a terrible experience, and I have since learned that this company was featured on Channel 7's "On Your Side" customer service segment,

    Barney explained the problem with the damper and had it working in no time. He also visually inspected the fireplace and flue. While he was here, he took the time to explain the proper way to use the gas-assisted fireplace. Did not need to have the exterior chimney inspected; when that service is required, I will have Barney do the job.
