    A-Tech Appliance Parts & Service
Ronnie was great. He's seen this before. The guts of the thing are behind a techie door in the back of the main cabinet. It was all frozen up, with water accumulating under the vegetable bins and forming a sheet of ice there. He replaced the door with a new one after steaming the innerds clean. He also replaced the seal on the freezer drawer to prevent excessive frost buildup. Both repairs seem to have worked. It was expensive, but if we get a couple of years more out of this unit it will have been worth it. I'm not a cost/benefits guy but it seems to be taking. Buying a new one was going to be probably $2K.

    Asher Appliance
Rick Averett, the apparent owner of Asher Appliance Repair, responded to a request of mine from Angie's List to provide a same-day service call for a refrigerator/freezer repair. He identified the problem as a faulty relay and said he'd order the part and come back the next day to replace it. I paid a deposit for the part and the service fee. He arrived back the next day as planned, replaced the relay, and assured me the fridge was fixed. The "motor" seemed to be running fine so I paid the remainder of the balance (he asked the remaining be paid in cash, which I thought was strange). After 24 hours, the unit had yet to cool despite running constantly. I called him back and asked him to return and he refused. He said he had service calls all day but would call me back, though he never did. I called again and he was even more rude, claiming he was too busy to return. I pressed him and he agreed to come back the next evening at 6:30pm. At this point, it had been eight days since he was last here--eight days that I had no working refrigerator/freezer! He did not show back up at 6:30pm as agreed. I am out approx. $200 for a unit that is still not working. I called another company (had to pay another service fee) only to be told the compressor was now out. When the new gentleman took the cover off the back of the appliance, one wire fell to the floor (unconnected to anything) and another wire had been left live (nearly touching the metal frame) by Mr. Averett. After inspecting the relay replaced by Asher Appliance, I was told it's very likely this "fix" is what caused my compressor to stop working. I was told it would cost $1200 to repair the refrigerator, likely due to the work Mr. Averett performed. He essentially scammed me out of money and made my situation worse.

Mr. Appliance of Greater Little Rock
The repair person was personable, knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra step. He helped me solve the immediate problem but we chose to not do the complete repair. CAUTION: This company charges a fee for diagnosis, and another fee for the labor. So if they show up you are likely to have a minimum charge of $180. In my experience MOST companies will put the diagnostic fee towards the labor charge if you go ahead and do the repair. Mr. Appliance does not do that. CAUTION #2: The office notified me about the appointment time by email at the very end of the business day. I called twice to tell them that I would not be there at the designated time, both times I was assured that they would contact the repair guy, but he was never contacted. So ultimately I don't have 100% trust in this company

Two repairmen arrived the same day and correctly assessed the problem. So far, so good. My dryer vent was clogged. Then they wanted to charge me $300 to clean the vent. I hesitated when I heard that and wondered aloud if I could take care of that myself. I was told that I could pay now for them to clean it with their brushes "specially made" to do the job, or pay them when they had to come back later (implying that I wouldn't be able to do it). I paid them their service call fee ($75 - applies to total fee if they perform work) and sent them off. Turns out you can buy the "special" brush at Home Depot for $20. It's not hard to clean the duct. So I saved my self approximately $205 and more because it's sure to happen again someday, and I will never have to buy another duct cleaning brush! I attached a photo of the brush in case that is helpful to anyone. You can even attach it to a drill to make it spin easily! : )

The last time I had him come was to fix my garage door that had buckled. He came right out and got it working. He's a very pious person, and I like that. He does the work and does it right which I especially like. Whenever I call he usually comes out the next day! He always treats me right, and does the work right, so I'm very happy with him!

    GE Appliance Repair
The refrigerator was GE. They have the equipment to analyze the problem. Sears thought they did but they didn't. The GE repairman explained why. He said only we have the proper computer to check the GE Monogram series. He's the one who told me they still make a 42 inch and he showed me a picture of it. I didn't have to buy a new one because he repaired it. The sear's guy didn't. He charged me for two calls plus the repair for one and we haven't gotten our money back or anything. So we were out about $800 altogether for nothing. I'll definitely call GE if it goes out again. Everything in our kitchen is GE. So I would call them up for the stove, or oven whatever, trash compactor, you name it. They were successful in repairing my refrigerator. They repaired my refrigerator. Sears couldn't.

the technicians called about an hour and a half into the four hour "window" to say they were on their way. That was a pleasant surprise. They then arrived when they said they would. The problem was quickly diagnosed and I was total cost of the repair and that the part was on their truck. I thought it was a reasonable cost. The heating unit was quickly installed and tested. The whole thing took took 35 minutes. The technicians were polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Will call again for other appliance repairs.

The service person Richard Barnes came over shortly after I called and within minutes located the problem?a relay had gone bad?and installed a new relay. The freezer is now working again. A few comments. He seemed very knowledgeable and has apparently been in business all of his life repairing appliances. Richard owns the business and diagnosed the problem extremely fast and had the appropriate parts to fix it rapidly. I would use him again without hesitation. I was very impressed with the speed of fixing the problem. Asked him about a dishwasher we have been having problems with and he is scheduled to fix that next week also. Seems like excellent company to do business with.

I had James repair three different appliances.  It was so nice to work with him and have all three..... two refrigerators and one dish washer repaired.   One frig kept freezing everything...  one frig door would not stop and slammed my kitchen counter every time you opened it.  The dish washer leaked water out the front......  and the fell forward everytime I pulled open the door.  All repairs good....   James called one day to stop by and take a look .... serial numbers and what needs fixed..... then came back one morning and knocked it all out.   Great job,   good guy,  I'll definitely be using him again.

Mr. Appliance of Greater Little Rock
The repair Tech called prior to arrival.  Showed up on time.  Quickly determined the problem and quoted the repair options and cost.  He got the required part.  Came back and completed the repair in the space of about two hours.  He also replaced the hoses and balanced the machine.
The washing machine now works fine.  Excellent repair tech. Good job.
