Kept in contact so no surprises regarding time of pickup.  Came on time and got right to work.
The 4 gentlemen were friendly and professional.
I also had a hot tub to move (smaller 3 person) but the guys knew what to do and my Hot Springs Jetsetter got moved and setup up just great!  (BTW, I'll mention here that Townley Spas wanted $800 just to pickup, transport and put back the spa.  ATRM not only moved my spa....but my household items with their own truck, pads etc and worked hard for over 4 hours for the Same Price. Oh....and Townley was not able to perform this for another 3 weeks...well beyond my need).

Overall everything went great. I was very pleased that I found these guys to do our move.  I was also pleased with the price considering all the work they did for us.

    SML - Simple Moving Labor
For the load in Little Rock, I purchased the 2 professional movers for the 3 hour minimum. The week of the move, the movers contracted by SML called me 3 separate times asking me the exact same questions about stairs/heavy furniture/unique items.  Two of which were from the same guy.  He seemed disorganized from the beginning. They were scheduled to arrive between 11-12.  They did not arrive until 12:55, on an afternoon that was scheduled to have heavy rain.  When the gentleman finally arrived, they were dropped off by the manager of the contracted company, who did not come in or apologize for being late.  The first words out of his movers mouth were "This move is going to take longer than 3 hours".  As a customer, that told me he was going to do what he needed to do to make sure it lasted longer than the three hours, so they could make more money in the almost doubled price of the 4th or 5th hour.  I told him to we would evaluate how much more needed to be done at 3 hours.  I am not sure how to say this eloquently, but then movers were older guys, and the speed of their work reflected. I will give credit due, that one of them was very skilled at packing the truck tightly, almost like he were playing tetris.  But it was an inefficient use of our time, especially when we had already disassembled all the furniture, boxed up everything, and taken a good chunk of it down to the carport to be loaded. While one of the guys was packing things in, his colleague was standing in the truck (as it was now raining) waiting, smoking cigarrettes, by all of our belongings, rather than making more trips getting the rest of our boxes outside to be loaded. I started timing their trips to the truck after about 2 hours, and 80% of my belongings still in my home or carport and not in the truck, and it took 10 minutes per trip. Finally at the 2.5 hour mark, i realized, it is raining, if they continue the pace they are going, it will be 6 hours until they are done (and to me it seemed on purpose, the longer they work, the more money they make) I told the movers to only focus on the heavy things i could not move myself, and at 3 hours, I would take over and load the rest of the boxes. At the end of the 3 hours, they quit working, i still had about 60% of my house left to load myself. The manager of the movers that dropped them off, was off doing something else, and the gentleman remained on my property for an hour and a half after they were done working,  To me, the customer, that tells me the manager trains his employees to move slowly and get extra time for us to pay for, because he had no intention of picking these gentleman up before 5 hours.   When the manager, his name was Ron, did finally come in to get payment and pick up his movers, he said that we had stairs, and this was a difficult move that could not have been completed in 3 hours.  I told him he called me 3 times during the week, and each time I told him about the stairs, and maybe it couldn't have been completed in 3 hours, but a lot more could have been done than what actually got done, especially since they didnt have to take anything apart. Just load.  Lots of standing around and smoking cigarettes by my furniture, and moving at a glacial pace got done, but not loading. Ron, essentially told us, this was our fault, and he wasnt sorry.

The role SML played in this was helpful to an extent, but bottom line, it didnt get my truck loaded any faster, because they were in Texas, and I was in Arkansas.  I called them several times during the load, and afterward, because these movers were just hanging out sitting on my deck, while I was loading up the rest of my truck with my boyfriend.  They did offer me a 10% discount, and apologized and were very nice and professional, but SML were still were the ones that contracted this company, and the company was terrible.  It made me very leery of who they had contracted to unload my truck in Wichita, and had I probably not already paid a deposit, I would have canceled it, and just unloaded my truck myself.

On the other hand, I get to Wichita, and the movers were contracted to arrive between 11-12 on a Sunday morning.  They both arrive before 11:10 am, and were ready to work.  They asked for marching orders, I told them they could put boxes in the garage and focus on the heavier furniture I couldn't carry.  They did just that, they got all my heavy stuff in the house in 3 hours, and yes I have stairs here too, and were very efficient in their work and movement.  I wish I could say more great things about these guys, they were friendly, offered some advice to new people in a new town, and worked well together.

My reason for not using SML again is they contract moving companies in your area, and my experience was completely inconsistent with the type of companies they brought to me.  I will be better off researching the companies myself by reading reviews or word of mouth from other peoples experience, than take a chance on who SML sends to my house.   This was my first time moving, and Penske endorsed SML, which is who I got my truck from, and I learned that lesson the hard way.
