The counselor was very helpful and really seemed to want to help my daughter with a real addiction problem she was facing, despite the court order. Though she hasn't entirely quit smoking, she did cut back and now that she has a full-time job she's closer to quitting.

    Ross, Dr. Robin
This appointment was a follow-up to a previous one and Dr. Ross checked to make sure that I was doing okay on my treatments. She also checked to make sure I wasn't having any side effects or had any other complaints.

    Adams, Dr. Amy M.
Very well. Dr. Adams shows a genuine interest in her patients' well-being. She's relaxed and casual in a way to make her patients comfortable, yet she is professional and straightforward with her opinions and knowledge.

My children have improved psychologically in the 3.5 years we've been in Fayetteville. They were seeing a psychiatrist in the town we moved from and they didn't get near as much attention as they do with Dr. Crouch. He treats the child as his primary patient (as they are, and he should) and involves them in the treatment program. That way they are invested in the outcome instead of being a pawn in a medical game between the doctor and the parents. I believe both my children trust Dr. Crouch and his diagnoses and would recommend him to their friends. He has a great "bedside manner" (though we've only had office visits) is kind, warm and funny while showing true interest in each child's well-being. His offices are decorated in a way that's kid-friendly for younger kids but doesn't seem "baby-ish" which is one reason my kids wanted to discontinue seeing their pediatrician--too many bunnies on the wall paper. The walls of the office are decorated with bright acrylic paintings of dogs, fish, etc. done in a very primitive "Trout Fishing in America" style. Though they are 19 and almost 18 they are both comfortable in his office, the halls and in the waiting room. The office staff have always been helpful, in person and over the phone. We've had no problems with insurance billing or making appointments. They have always been accommodating when I've needed to work in an "emergency" appointment, putting me on a wait list for cancellations. The only problem I have with billing and administration is the policy that if you're a "no show" for an appointment the charge is $150. When my daughter was in the deepest part of her depression, coming down off of a manic episode, she got enraged and refused to go to school or to her appointment. This happened twice and we had to make her pay the $300 as a consequence. This led to a situation where she could have been re-diagnosed as bi-polar sooner if the policy were modified. The policy actually had a negative effect on her mental health rather than working as an incentive to get her to her appointments on time. Sometimes we've had to wait 15 minutes or so past our scheduled appointment time but it doesn't bother me too much because I figure that he's spending extra time with a client who urgently needs it; and he'd do the same for us.

    Ross, Dr. Robin
Dr. Ross has a volatile "All or Nothing" approach, unwilling to consider options other than those of her invention; we were pidgeonholed into a stereotypical persona. She lacked personability, understanding and basic bedside manner. I have never experienced such gross and inhumane treatment from a healthcare professional. If you want a condescending and judgemental 'mommy dearest', see Dr. Ross. We quickly looked up another psychiatrist, and found the help we needed. Thankfully, we are in MUCH better shape today, thanks to other services in NWA.

She has a large patient load but she spends a good deal of time with you. She seems to know your case and she's very friendly. If I need to see her quickly, I'm usually able to. In her office she has a little refrigerator with drinks and has coffee and water. Sometimes with a psychiatrist the patient before you will need to discuss something a little longer so she runs a little late. I've never had any problems with the billing.

She does group and individual counseling.  She was recommended to me.  She was of my age and she understood my issues. She is setup with several others in the building.  It was not hard to get an appointment with her.  I would use her in the future.

    Ross, Dr. Robin
She took over my husband's case when we moved to Arkansas. My husband wasn't sure he wanted a female doctor, he wanted a man-to-man situation especially because of personal questions. She was one of the only psychiatrists in our area in our health care system. When we first went to her the thing that impressed us the most I that even though she had not seen him yet she had reviewed his medical records and she did not make radical changes to his medication. In fact she kept him on his current medication and monitored him very closely once a month for a year. We appropriate that she was conservative in her approach and she didn't run a bunch of tests and change his medication. He was doing moderately well so she said we would make changes one at a time so we know what works and what doesn't. It's a physical problem that manifests itself in his brain chemistry so you don't want to just yank the rug out. She made minor changes over time. She has been his doctor for 6 years and he really likes her. They have a rapport and he's able to talk to her about anything. She's excellent and usually on time. Sometimes she runs late but it's understandable. The staff is excellent and the office is homey feeling. Overall we've had good service and she's a good provider. She's not a gushy warm person but as you get to know her you can trust her. I think when it comes to mental health issues that's very important and we both trust her. She is not the kind of person who comes across with a light sense of humor.

The PT staff are very experienced and know what they are doing. They are friendly but professional. They also are compassionate, as I've observed them with several elderly patients who needed extra help. My treatment has really helped a lot.
Everyone at FDC has always been very helpful, professional, and caring. All my doctors there are the best, in my opinion!

    Ross, Dr. Robin
The office staff are very efficient, taking care of the insurance co-pay first thing. The waiting room, the former living room of a renovated mid-century home near the University of Arkansas, is full of very comfortable wing chairs and love seats. In the center of the room there is a small fridge with bottles of water or Coke for patients, or there is a microwave where they can make tea or coffee singles. The room is filled with colorful artwork and sculptures and the magazines are interesting and up-to-date.
There are times when I have to wait for my appointment because Dr. Ross is running a bit late, but usually it is never more than 10-15 minutes. I never begrudge her this, as one never knows when one will have to spend a little extra time with a psychiatric patient.
I usually have an appointment with Dr. Ross every six weeks, to evaluate my current condition and medication and make changes if necessary. Since I have a mail-order pharmacy she will prescribe medications for a 3-month supply but with no refill, so we must meet to discuss the effectiveness of my current medication and evaluate whether any changes are needed.
Where Dr. Ross excels is her openness and availability if you are in crisis. She tells me never to hesitate to call for an appointment sooner (and she is able to work me in usually the next day, if not that afternoon, depending upon what time I call) if something changes in my mental health. Several times I have had to do this after suffering and quot;nervous breakdowns, and quot; or suffering side-effects from a medication (or sometimes from forgetting to take a medication for a period of time.) She says she can tell when a patient is in crisis because they bring a spouse or partner to the appointment with them to help tell about the crisis and to take notes and remember what the doctor says and the patient isn't always able to when in crisis. I have found that to be true, and have taken my husband in with me on several occasions. She is willing to work with me to reduce the number of medications I take (as I not only suffer from bi-polar disorder, anxiety and PTSD but have fibromyalgia, migraines, arthritis and back pain). We tried taking me off a medication for one month almost 2 years ago and discovered that the medication (for anxiety) was necessary for my condition.
Even though Dr. Ross has a very busy schedule and our visits aren't very long (that's what my cognitive therapist is for) she is always welcoming and asks what I've been up to with very genuine warmth. After a visit with her I feel very confident that I am under the and quot;careand quot; of a very competent and caring psychiatrist. I would recommend her to anyone, male or female, in fact that's why I looked up her info on Angie's List, to get the contact info to give to an acquaintance. I've never had contact with her in a hospital setting (and am hoping I never have to) but I have every confidence that she would have a caring bedside manner and work with me to bring me back to a more balanced state of mind.
