    Get-ER-Done Handyman Services
It went great UNTIL it didn't. They came and built a screen porch I was happy with. Then almost a year later, a neighbor's tree dropped a limb on the roof. A friend who is in construction visited and told me the bad news: the whole deck and porch, except for a few braces, are built with UNTREATED LUMBER. I called two contractors, who came out separately and both confirmed it was primarily untreated lumber and advised me I needed to tear the whole thing down and rebuild it. They both pointed out that dry rot was already setting in. After spending $10,000 on a screen porch, I am not at all pleased. Worse, I recommended them to a friend who had them build a deck, and he is having the same problem. Had that limb not fallen, I would have not have had any idea. I am extremely sorry I ever met them. They did handyman work inside my house first, and they did a good job. But cutting costs by using untreated lumber, without giving me that information and the choice of spending the extra $1500, and leaving me with a porch that must be replaced within a couple more years--well, I think they either didn't understand the consequences or they intentionally cut corners realizing I wouldn't by sight be able to tell treated from untreated just by looking at it. There were other issues--flooring nails completely missing the supports, wood ground-to-deck supports not footed in concrete, nails when there should have been screws, 4x4s used when 6x6s are standard, trellis patched together that warped and came apart, cheap plastic screen stretched top-to-bottom rather than being framed in, and an opening between the underfloor of the deck and a small concrete porch that allowed ingress to a possum to crawl up in there and die. Maybe I should call them or sue them, but I'm just going to mark it up to the one bad job I've ever been stuck with. A lot of money, down the drain.

Eddy Higgins and his crew at Get Er Done are capable, fast, dependable, and pleasant to work with. They first came in to install wall tile around a new free-standing tub that was already in place. So it was a difficult job because of the obstacle since the new tub had plumbing installed and could not be moved. They finished in about four hours and the job was immaculate, and the price was more than fair. They then hung shelves, upgraded light fixtures, added safety bars, and generally just finished off my entire honey-do list, with no honey required. Again, the work was perfect and quick, and the price was excellent. Then I had them bid on new construction of a 14' x 20' screen porch about five feet off the ground, with lights, ceiling fans, electric receptacles, a roof connected to my house, outdoor lighting, new guttering, pet doors, renovated steps into the garage, and a large apron deck outside the screened area for the grill etc. The bid was, again, more than fair, and they (again) knocked it out in no time flat, just exactly as I had specified. During the job, they painted my wrought iron outdoor furniture, waterproofed my rattan porch furniture, watersealed the decking, and treated the tall steps from the porch to the yard with slip-proof coating. In addition to great skills and an amazing work ethic, Eddy has enormous patience and will listen and make sure he understand just what you want. If one of my ideas was impractical, he explained to me why, and helped me decide a different way to get what I wanted. He and his family members work as a crew, and they communicate very easily among themselves. They are polite and professional, and they really clean up at the end of a job. They come when they say they will and do what they promise to do. They bought high quality materials for the porch. I will be booking them again when the time comes to paint the interior of my house in the next few months.

    Let David Do It
Nature of job:   Pressure wash and repainting of rear deck with replacement/repair of water damaged deck boards; pressure washing of siding of house; replacement and repair of water-damaged wooden garage door frame

After trying to call at least 4 different contractors just for an estimate for work on my home (2 never answered messages; 2 stated that they would call me back to schedule a time for an estimate and never did call back nor come by for a look), David answered his telephone and voicemail promptly and was polite and professional. We scheduled a time that was convenient and within just a few days of our initial phone call. On arriving at my door, he greeted me with a good old fashioned handshake, was professional and knowledgable and was perfectly frank about what services he could provide and what he did not do. His estimate sounded very reasonable and he started work promptly.

Additionally, though we had never known each other from before, he struck me as someone trustworthy, such that he completed the work on my home while my family and I were out of town. His work was very clean and professional looking and left no trace of any scrap material anywhere. All work was within budget as well. The entire job/interaction was straightforward, pressure-free and absolutely professional.

I would recommend David for any carpentry or painting job without reservation and would definitely call upon him for any future needs for my home. If you are looking for someone reliable, prompt, polite, professional and reasonable, he's your guy.

Chris and his team were very professional and provided great service.  They left the work area very clean when leaving for the day.  He gave great advise and suggestions about how things would look and what to change for a curve appeal.

    DRG Builders Inc
The owner, Doug Greenwood, was a great guy to work with in several ways, especially when we needed to modify our contract to accommodate a couple of changes.

If the amount spent looks high, it is probably because of the cost of ChoiceDek as opposed to regular deck material. His crew worked hard and did a beautiful job. I will be calling DRG the next time I need any building work done!

    Matthews Construction LLC
My husband decided to take on the challenge of doing this job ourselves, so we won't be using this company this time. But I was very positively impressed with the prompt responses and good attitude of Eric Matthews. Another contractor that came out to give me an estimate (with good ratings on Angie's List) hasn't even gotten back to me yet. Eric Matthews emailed my estimate the same day that he came out. He was flexible with the amount of work we could do, and was willing to do things like reuse wood that was still good. I thought his estimate was fair. I would recommend to anyone needing work done that you call Eric!
