  • The doctors and nurses are really good and friendly. We went on a Sunday and it was really busy. We waited in the ER for over 4 hours. They had beds outside the rooms. My daughter had to watch a little boy with a broken foot and had to hear him screaming in pain. The sick people were confined in rooms which was nice though but they need more rooms.

  • There are many good doctors in the Mercy System. In general I have always had good experiences with staff, however this was not a good visit with my neurologist. I have maybe been to him 3-4 times over the last 3 years. I am having more sleep issues since starting the Capp and tried to explain and was seeking some options. He did not seem to care and he was flippant with my concerns. I was sincerely trying to seek a solution to better follow the doctors orders AND get some relief. The whole appt was frustration and I did not feel I was listened to or taken seriously.

  • We were very pleased as he was seen right away.  His blood pressure was elevated and his pulse ox was lower than they wanted so they took him back right away.  They took 2 chest x-rays and decided that his bronchitis that he'd had was turning into pneumonia.  They immediately gave him a heavy duty antibiotic through IV.  He then had to have a shot of Benadryl as he was having a reaction to the antibiotic.  He was sent home with a prescription for another antibiotic and told to take extra strength mucinex to help with his cough.  They told him to come back immediately if he felt worse or had a lot of shortness of breath.  All of this was just fine, we maybe saw the doctor for a total of 10 minutes.  Then we got the bill.  Since the service was only 2 weeks into the new year, that meant new deductible and paying the full bill.  That part I expected, what I did not expect was a $4,000 bill for a 3 hour ER trip.  They charged $1,447 just for walking in the door and another $1,500 in IV meds (which by the way are older meds that have been around long enough to not cost that much).  The best bill of all was from the ER doctor (the one we saw for about 10 minutes total).  She charged $1,129.  I was amazed.  And absolutely appalled.  I called to get a detailed bill and when calling to get an explanation on some of the services, funny, no one could really spell everything out for me.  I called the insurance company and was told that what they charged "appeared to be justified" and the bill would stand.  Then when calling to make arrangements for payment on the bill, I was told that it HAD to be paid in 12 months, that's it.  So I was going to have to make a $200 payment every month for the next year.  When I told the lady that I couldn't do that and forgo my house payment for a medical bill to be paid on their time clock, she told me I could send in "what ever" but that wouldn't stop it from being sent to collections.  I'm still trying to figure out how to fight this in some way.  My husband had surgery on his gallbladder a couple of years ago and spent 3 days in the hospital and the bill still wasn't this much.  I will never use Northwest in Bentonville ever again, billing is ridiculously sky high and the office staff is completely unhelpful.

  • The Dr. was reading a book at the desk when I went in, but soon came into the room. His bedside manner was to lean back against a table while I described my condition at which point he said it should go away in a few days, gave me a prescription for antibiotics and a referral to see another physician in a few days. The antibiotics had no effect, so the referred physician prescribed something stronger. He then referred me to two specialists due to the nature of my symptoms that by now were exclusively in my chest. The worst part about it was when I received the bill. It turns out that the Emergency Room was covered by insurance (which is very good by the way), but the Emergency Room Dr. was not. I ended up with a bill for several hundred dollars just for 5 minutes or less of the Dr.'s time. This hospital advertises it's commitment to see a medical provider within 15 minutes, but I would much prefer a longer wait for an upfront quote on the cost. If you need an emergency room, I suggest checking first to see if the Dr. honors your health plan. If not, try the other hospital in town.

  • I have been taking my children to this pediatric clinic for two years because that is who our insurance listed as a provider. I have had a good experience with the nurses and Dr. Cadle, but the office staff is the worst I have ever seen. They are rude and sarcastic. We have had to wait for over an hour while we watch other patients who come in after us get seen before us. My kids don't like it and I can't stand it.

  • The incident happened during the Ice Storm that occurred at the end of Jan 2009. Unfortunately, due to the ice storm, there were not any other urgent care facilities or family practices open so I went to the ER. I arrived at about 11:00 am and waited until 3:00 pm to be seen. After four hours in the ER with my pregnant wife and two year old son, I was so sick and upset that I had to wait so long that I left and took my family home. Upon arriving home my symptoms seemed to get worse and so I regretfully decided to return to the ER to see if they would see me. I arrived at the ER for the second time around 5:00 pm luckily one of the nurses recognized me from the morning and realized that I had already waited four hours to be seen. I got on the "fast track" and she started examining me around 7:00 pm (two hours later!). In order to "speed things up" she decided to take a throat and nasal swab and send it to the lab before the doctor even came to see me. They put me in an examination room where I waited at least another hour before a doctor ever came into the room. He entered the room and told me that I had the flu and would receive a prescription and sent me on my way. He left the room without giving me anything and did not return for another 30+ minutes. When he entered he told me that they had mixed up my lab results and it looked like I did not have the flu after all, but he wanted to test me again to make sure. Another 30+ minuted passed before another nurse entered and swabbed my nose and throat again. After about yet another hour the doctor came back in and told me that I did not have the flu but thought I might have Mono, but he wanted to take chest x-rays to be sure. He left and in about 30 minutes a nurse come in at took me to a room where they took some chest x-rays. She then sent me back to the examination room to wait. I was there about another hour before the doctor came back in. He entered the room, told me that I did not have Mono but that they had made another mistake with mixing up lab results. Eventually he simply told me that I had "some sort of viral crud" (exact words), and told me to go home and and drink a lot of water. I did not leave the ER until well after midnight (2:00 am - I think)!!! As if the service was not bad enough, in about a month the bills started rolling in. I was charged for every lab test they performed (even the ones that they had mixed up!), the chest x-rays that I probably did not need since he ordered it based off lab results that were not even mine, and doctor consultations. Over $700 in all! The whole thing was a joke and I will never return to an ER again.
