Moving patio TV and components; indoor and outdoor general repairs and painting

We had accumulated quite a list of minor repairs, painting, etc. at our home, and decided to finally bite the bullet and get them all taken care of at once. In particular, we had a patio tv whose components were stored in a wall-mounted cabinet. The cabinet had deteriorated over the years from occasional exposure to water, and we wanted the cabinet taken down and the components and tv moved to a different area. Bill finished our basement several years ago (awesome job - see separate review), and has always been available when we have needed various repairs at our home, so he was the obvious choice to call for these repairs. Bill did what he has consistently done at our home - he took the tv cabinet job that I expected to be difficult, labor-intensive and expensive, and came up with a simple, effective and reasonably-priced solution. He suggested simply taking down the damaged cabinet, relocating the components to a space under an existing outdoor countertop area, and moving the tv to the wall space over the countertop area. His carpenter made doors to cover the area where the components were relocated, and it all looked great - better than it ever looked, actually, even when the cabinet was first installed. They took away the old rotten cabinet and construction debris when finished. We also have a rec room where we had a lot of family photos in collage frames covering pretty much all of the walls. We had had enough of this look, and had Bill's guys remove everything from the walls (helpful hint: do not mount collage frames on walls with double sided tape, even if you think you will want them there forever), did extensive repairs to the wall (see prior helpful hint), and painted. It all looked good as new. They also handled some much-needed outdoor painting on window sills and the metal steps from our upstairs deck to downstairs patio, and some other minor repairs. After the repairs were finished, they dusted and vacuumed the area where they had worked, and left everything neat. All work was done well and was completed quickly. All of the workers were polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend Bill for any type of construction or repair work. He is honest and dependable and does excellent work.

Bill built our house. He helped us with some repairs and issues with our porch slate and also installed some drains.

It went well. He was fair on his pricing, and has always been helpful to us since we built our house.

Our project was the finishing of approximately 1000 feet of daylight basement space. We added a full kitchen with granite countertops and brick backsplash, a matching brick breakfast bar area with granite top, a pantry, a tv area with big-screen tv, an office with built-in desk area, and a bathroom. We also reconfigured the remaining non-finished basement space to be a more effective storage area.

Our basement is adjacent to an outdoor flagstone patio with stone fireplace, and we wanted the finished basement space to tie in with and kind of "match" the outdoor space - we were looking for rustic, but nice - kind of a western feel. We interviewed several contractors before hiring Bill Kinnebrew at Indianwood Builders. We chose Bill because we could tell that he really understood our vision for the space, and he immediately made several suggestions that were exactly along the lines we were looking for. The project itself was painless. Every day during the project, Bill's guys showed up on time, worked hard all day, and cleaned up after themselves. There was not a single day that they didn't show up, or slacked off, or left the basement a mess - and the project was finished ON TIME. I have worked with other contractors in the past, and those are all definitely exceptions to the rule. Bill was also great about logistics - all of the aspects of the project (like framing, sheetrock, adding a new HVAC unit, plumbing, cabinet installation, etc.) were timed perfectly with no days where nothing was happening. The work was performed to a very high standard - no corners were cut. Bill and his guys were also very patient and obliging when we wanted a change or addition to the project (or when we changed the paint color for the third time). If you are considering any type of construction project - basement addition, kitchen remodel, etc. - you should definitely talk to Bill at Indianwood Builders.
