AAffordable Handyman ServiceFirst , I want to truly thank Jason, who is the actual "Affordable Handyman" and his crew Darryl, Ben, Charles, Collin, and Jonathan (I'm sorry if I spelled any names wrong). I started off by getting bids from several reputable contractors. Even at $52,000 Jason was the least expensive and did an outstanding job. We were fortunate enough to be able to use Kohler, Delta and/or Moen, fixtures, which of course added to the cost rapidly. Jason recommended the sub contractors (cabinets, granite, seamless shower door, etc.). When they were through with their part I would write a check directly to them. Jason's costs were labor and materials. Each week on Friday he brought all receipts for materials to me and I would pay him. This was for things like caulk, paint, plumbing materials, and door knobs). He collected his other money in three separate draws, with the last being when the job was completed. I liked the way he handled this because he knew his reputation was on the line. Jason was excellent at running into town to Home Depot or Lowes to get things that were needed, which was about 20 miles one way. . I think this was partly because that's just how Jason is and partly because he knew my husband and myself are not in the best of health and it would have taken a lot out of us to be running into town all the time. After all, this was what I considered to be a big job as three bathrooms and the kitchen were gutted. He gave me a timeline of four weeks, but I kept adding things for him to do and so all total was six weeks, which was still pretty amazing. Also, the cabinet doors were on back order, which held things up. He guaranteed two men on the job everyday and there were. If he was running late for any reason, which was not often, he always called. Running a little late was generally because he had to go to Home Depot or Lowes to pick up something needed for my job. All the guys were very respectful and cleaned up any mess at the end of the day. I think my garage was cleaner when they left than it was before they got here. All of these guys are hard working, honest ,and want to please. One thing very important...I trusted all of them. AAffordable Handyman ServiceI contacted Jason and described the problem. He said he could be there at 7:30 a.m. the next morning to check it out. He was there at 7:20; diagnosed the problem, gave me an estimate, and set a time to come fix it. The crew arrived on time, cut a hole in the wall, had to remove an attached cabinet, repaired the leak, repaired the wall, reattached the cabinet, cleaned up their mess and was finished. AWe are so pleased with the overall experience with Joseph and his crew. The roof was completed in less than a full day. They were punctual and professional and left no trace that they were there other than the beautiful roof. I can't speak highly enough about Joseph. He is very professional and honestly one of the nicest contractors i have ever met. The roof was for my parents house who are both disabled and in their 90s. Joseph was so courteous and patent with my father who is very hard to please and asked so many questions and Joseph not only was kind to him, but took the time to explain and make my father feel part of the process which is very important to him even though he isn't able to do a lot anymore. H He listened to his old war stories and my dad really liked him as well and was very pleased with the overall job Joseph and his team did with his roof. DI paid 3500 for a new pine privacy fence. I was putting a sealer on it, and the fence gate was blown shut by wind and broke the latch. I took a look at the latch and realized how extremely cheap it was. I called the contractor to ask for a replacement, to which he told me it wasn’t cheap and that it couldn’t have been wind that broke it. I found a better, sturdier, latch at Lowe’s for 25 bucks and installed it myself. Disappointed that I paid a premium price but didn’t receive great service. Would not recommend.
